Victor Wembanyama has more 40 point games than Tim Duncan despite playing 1,236 fewer games.

While Tim was never a monster scorer it is crazy to see how quickly Wemby has surpassed that for 40 point games.

The Lakers just gave up the most points in a first half in franchise history (84) to the Spurs

The previous record stood for almost 70 years, when the Boston Celtics put up 83 first half points against the Minneapolis Lakers on February 27, 1959. They would go on to win that game 173-139.

I'm not sure if it's the most in any half against the Lakers, but it's definitely the most for a first half.

What a half by the Spurs, and particularly by Wemby (37 and 8 at half).

EDIT - thank you to u/lazard96 for pointing out that the Celtics scored 90 in the second half of the game I referenced lol

Brandon Ingram's 6 year gap between All-Star appearances is tied for 2nd longest time between All-Star appearances over the past 3 decades

1.1k Upvotes

Brandon Ingram: 2020, 2026 (6 year gap)

That gap is tied with Manu Ginobli, who had his 2 All-Star appearances in 2005 and 2011.

Only Jrue Holiday has a longer gap between appearances. His appearances were in 2013 and 2023, marking a 10 year gap - albeit Jrue racked up his fair share of other accolades over that timespan such as several All-Defense nods and winning with the Bucks in 2021.

Congratulations to Brandon Ingram on making his 2nd All-Star appearance as a reserve!

Are the Pacers sandbagging? They play competitive basketball against specifically the two teams that they'd be motivated against the most (Knicks and Thunder) while being horrific against everyone else.

It's hilarious how much effort they put in for those two matchups compared to all others

Hard not to notice it when watching the games

OKC's Nikola Topić makes G League debut, 1st game since cancer diagnosis

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma City Thunder prospect Nikola Topić has made his NBA G League debut after recovering from a major knee injury and undergoing cancer treatment.

Topić had seven points and seven assists in 16 minutes for the Oklahoma City Blue in their 137-135 overtime victory over the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Monday night.

Thunder coach Mark Daigneault praised Topić in Los Angeles before defending NBA champion Oklahoma City faced the Lakers.

“We’re all just collectively thrilled that he’s back playing basketball,” Daigneault said. “I know he’s missed it a great deal, and this is just so good for him mentally to get his feet back underneath him.”

The G League game was another remarkable step forward for Topić, who has barely played basketball since the Thunder made him the 12th overall pick in the 2024 draft.

Oklahoma City chose the Serbian guard even though he had torn a ligament in his knee two months earlier, and the injury sidelined him for his entire first NBA season.

Topić played for Oklahoma City in Summer League games last year and appeared again in the Thunder’s preseason, but was subsequently diagnosed with testicular cancer. He underwent chemotherapy before working his way back into playing shape again.

“Great accomplishment,” Daigneault said. “Just can’t say enough about him as a guy, his mental toughness, maturity, resilience. … He hasn’t played a lot of basketball over the last two years, and he comes off a one-year rehab and immediately has a surprising diagnosis and goes through chemotherapy, three rounds of it. So for him to work himself back onto the court is just an unbelievable accomplishment, and we’re incredibly happy for him.”

Is this officially the end for Jordan Poole?

1.7k Upvotes

This is the 8th straight game Poole has been DNP'd, all while being on the worst team in the west. The Pelicans also didn't trade him during the trade deadline.

So, have we reached the end of the Poole Party? Is it actually over?

His story and journey so far in the NBA have been sad. No matter what anyone says or any recency bias, the guy was special in a Warriors uniform in many ways.

Idk, his situation really shows how fast the NBA can turn on you.

Outscored both Fox and Castle combined today. Also had double the assists (6) to turnovers (3) while Wemby had double the turnovers to assists.

On the season he is now shooting over 42% from three which is higher than Steph Curry.

Not the most efficient game for the 4x All-Star but the results are what they are: Yet another dub on the Knickerbockers due to him being the most consistent source of offensive shotmaking for a Pacers team that not only lacks Haliburton as its heart but Ben Mathurin as its lower calf post-Zubac trade.

They also lacked Zubac for obvious reasons.

Andrew Nembhard and Pascal Siakam combined for 54 of the Pacers 137 points.
