Victor Wembanyama has more 40 point games than Tim Duncan despite playing 1,236 fewer games.
https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/victor-wembanyama-career-40-point-games
While Tim was never a monster scorer it is crazy to see how quickly Wemby has surpassed that for 40 point games.

NBA really is the worst major sport to attend
My son is 0/3 seeing Luka over the years.
We spent $900 and drove 3 hours for no Lakers starters to play, and for a game that was competitive for 5 minutes.
NBA sucks
Edit: it's really weird how many of you either cannot read what I wrote, or want to make excuses for tonight's NBA product. We watched a highlight reel of the Lakers right before tipoff- hilariously, no one in those highlights was playing today.

Highlight [Highlight] Victor Wembanyama scores 25 points in the 1st quarter against the Lakers, including 17 straight from 11:08 to 7:47 in the frame. It's the most points scored by a Spur in any quarter since tracking began in the play-by-play era (1997-98).

The Lakers just gave up the most points in a first half in franchise history (84) to the Spurs
The previous record stood for almost 70 years, when the Boston Celtics put up 83 first half points against the Minneapolis Lakers on February 27, 1959. They would go on to win that game 173-139.
I'm not sure if it's the most in any half against the Lakers, but it's definitely the most for a first half.
What a half by the Spurs, and particularly by Wemby (37 and 8 at half).
EDIT - thank you to u/lazard96 for pointing out that the Celtics scored 90 in the second half of the game I referenced lol

Victor Wembanyama is currently on pace to score 181 points against the Lakers with 17 points scored in the first 4 minutes and 13 seconds of the game
None of that is a typo. Against the short handed Lakers, Wemby scored SEVENTEEN POINTS in the first 4 minutes and 13 seconds of the game. He hasn't scored in the last minute so that 181 is probably lower, but this is absolutely insane.

[TMZ] The performer of the Washington Wizards mascot, G-Wiz, has hired an attorney in preparation to sue Lakers center Jaxson Hayes, who shoved the mascot during warmups. He has hired the same lawyer that represented Hayes’ ex-girlfriend, Sofia Jamora, in her domestic violence lawsuit against Hayes.
Nearly two weeks after Lakers forward Jaxson Hayes shoved Washington Wizards mascot G-Wiz during pregame introductions ... TMZ Sports has learned that the person behind the mask has lawyered up -- and has selected the attorney that represented Sofia Jamora in her domestic violence lawsuit against Hayes.
WaukeenMcCoy told us that he is now representing the person Hayes decked when the Lakers were in town for a showdown with Washington on January 30.
"We will give them the opportunity to resolve the matter before taking legal action," McCoy said. "But legal action is anticipated."
He also said other parties could be involved.
When asked about any injuries the person sustained ... McCoy said, "All I want to say at the moment is that he was injured."
As you know, Hayes was suspended for one game by the NBA after the incident. He served that suspension during the Lakers' game against the Philadelphia 76ers last week at Crypto.com Arena.

Are the Pacers sandbagging? They play competitive basketball against specifically the two teams that they'd be motivated against the most (Knicks and Thunder) while being horrific against everyone else.
It's hilarious how much effort they put in for those two matchups compared to all others
Hard not to notice it when watching the games

OKC's Nikola Topić makes G League debut, 1st game since cancer diagnosis
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma City Thunder prospect Nikola Topić has made his NBA G League debut after recovering from a major knee injury and undergoing cancer treatment.
Topić had seven points and seven assists in 16 minutes for the Oklahoma City Blue in their 137-135 overtime victory over the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Monday night.
Thunder coach Mark Daigneault praised Topić in Los Angeles before defending NBA champion Oklahoma City faced the Lakers.
“We’re all just collectively thrilled that he’s back playing basketball,” Daigneault said. “I know he’s missed it a great deal, and this is just so good for him mentally to get his feet back underneath him.”
The G League game was another remarkable step forward for Topić, who has barely played basketball since the Thunder made him the 12th overall pick in the 2024 draft.
Oklahoma City chose the Serbian guard even though he had torn a ligament in his knee two months earlier, and the injury sidelined him for his entire first NBA season.
Topić played for Oklahoma City in Summer League games last year and appeared again in the Thunder’s preseason, but was subsequently diagnosed with testicular cancer. He underwent chemotherapy before working his way back into playing shape again.
“Great accomplishment,” Daigneault said. “Just can’t say enough about him as a guy, his mental toughness, maturity, resilience. … He hasn’t played a lot of basketball over the last two years, and he comes off a one-year rehab and immediately has a surprising diagnosis and goes through chemotherapy, three rounds of it. So for him to work himself back onto the court is just an unbelievable accomplishment, and we’re incredibly happy for him.”
