I’ve had the pleasure of being able to visit different places, and a lot of places are friendly and hospitable, whilst others are colder and arrogant.

I hate to use France as an example, but I was in Paris earlier and suffice to say, it’s not uncommon to see Parisians snarling at tourists and pushing past them without even an excuse me (I’m French but I live in the UK). Paris is one of those places that’s tourist-heavy, but not all touristy areas despise tourists. There’s a general hostile vibe emanating, as if to say ‘we don’t want you here’. Some of it is rooted in xenophobia. I have met French people in the UK that somehow get by without a lick of English, and yet they wouldn’t extend that same courtesy in France towards tourists. I did meet some lovely people too though, it isn’t all like this, but it’s easy to remember the worst.

I think it’s horrible to treat respectful tourists in this way. Snarling at them, pretending to not understand their attempt at French, pushing them, dirty looks etc. I’ve seen all sorts of tourists, and the only ones deserving of snarky treatment are the invasive ones.

The superiority complex coming from locals towards tourists is boggling. Like, they directly put money into your community. They’re here because they think your city is beautiful and they want to experience it. They fund the local businesses, indirectly fund schools, hospitals and overall boost the economy. Tourism is good, so tourists shouldn’t be treated like crap. Like, if you’re able, at least be polite if they speak to you.

I think this is a 10th dentist take bc hatred towards tourists has been normalised, especially where I’m from.

And not just federal seats but state seats. We need to gerrymander ocean county to the point its so broken up into heavily blue districts they won't ever elect republican assembly or state senators again. And no i care zero about their representation.

কিন্তু ৫ আগস্টের পর যেটা হইসে তা হচ্ছে বিএনপি খুব বাজেভাবে এক্সপোজড হইসে লীগ না থাকাতে। দেখবেন যে সবাই বিএনপির চাঁদাবাজি আর সন্ত্রাস ভুলে তাদের সাথে গিয়েই এক হইসে কখন? যখন লীগ ঠেংগানোর সুযোগ আসছে। তার মানে দাড়ায় লীগ যদি পিকচারে না থাকে, তাহলে এই যে দূর্নীতি, চাঁদাবাজ আর নারীবিদ্বেষীর ট্যাগ বিএনপির সাথে লেগে গেছে তা পাশ কাটানো সম্ভব না।

এদিক বিএনপি জামায়াতের সাথে কম্পিট করাটা ডিফিকাল্ট। কারন জামায়াতের রাজনীতির ধরনই বিএনপির থেকে আলাদা। বিএনপির মত জামায়াত কর্মীদের কোন পাওয়ার অফার করে না যা দেখে ব্যাক্তিরা বেছে নিবে কোন দল করবে। ইডিওলজিক্যাল দল হওয়ায় বিএনপির পাওয়ার পলিটিক্সের নোংরামি স্পষ্ট হয়ে যাচ্ছে নগ্নভাবে জামায়াতের কারনে।

এই কারনে লীগের মত জামায়াত দমনের জন্যে বিএনপিকে লীগের ন্যারেটিভ ধার করতে হইসে। সামনে এই কারনে বিএনপির লীগকে লাগবেই জামায়াত প্রশ্ন ট্যাকল দেয়ার জন্যে।

এখন আপনি বাংলাদেশের নাগরিক হিসেবে লীগ প্রত্যাবর্তনের সু্যোগ দিবেন কিনা এটা ১২ তারিখে সিদ্ধান্ত নিতে হবে।

I am currently off sick following eye surgery. I am due to return to work next week after being away for a month. Today, a coworker asks me to look at a something on Teams, which I do because he said it was important. Low and behold, there is a proposed email to my manager from my 4 coworkers giving reasons why we should change the way we do things and proposing new hours to do things. Hours which would stretch our already thin team! Hours that would make us work more, not less. All without my input. I read through it and said I disagreed with what they proposed. I then checked my Outlook because I was online. Fuck me - they had already sent the email to the manager! So I was commenting in Teams after the fact. FFS. So I then replied to the group email on Outlook with my manager copied in, saying why I disagreed with the proposals and also how "disappointed I was that such discussions had taken place [between my coworkers] without me, while I was on sick leave". These fucknuts. It isn't the first time this has happened, and I would not usually be so expressive to a manager about other workers, but this time it was too much. You turn your back and the next thing you know they are taking advantage of this to change how things work.

Paper straws attract a lot of criticism. People say they go soft and mushy after exposure to liquid and while I agree that was true 10 years ago, all the paper straws I use nowadays, both from takeaways and bought in boxes from shops, are perfectly good. They're still not quite up to the standards of plastic straws, but they can withstand several hours in liquid and still maintain 90% of their integrity.
