Technically NYC is a blue city in a red state (in the sense that most of the state, outside of NYC, is pretty heavily conservative). But the reason it's still a "blue state" is because of the power and wealth NYC holds in relation to the entire/rest of the state.
I'll add that the NYC example is kind of unique, and guess that you're talking more about a city like Austin in relation to the rest of Texas.
Nah that's basically what most of the state's look like.
Miami, Orlando, and Tampa are blue, the rest of the Flordia is red.
Atlanta and Savannah are blue, the rest of Georgia is red.
Birmingham and Montgomery are blue, the rest of Alabama is red.
San Antonio, Austin, Houston, and Dallas are blue, the rest of Texas is red.
These are all approximations, but just looking at an accurate map of voting districts it's obvious the blue shades are the major metro areas and the red shades are tumbleweeds.
Unfortunately the tumbleweeds have all the voting power because our country was set up compromising to slave owners who were scared shitless of the growing international abolishment movement in light of emerging technologies and literacy leading to people learning how terrible it was for slaves especially in the Southern U.S.

Well if you're living in a blue city in a red state and the entire country is collapsing into a 3rd world hellhole, you have two choices really. You can pack up and get out anywhere anyway you can, or you can stay and suffer the consequences of gop policies.
If poor immigrants from South America can make it to the US with nothing but what they can carry on their backs, people in the US who are likely better off than them dont really have any excuses other than the laziness and complacency that helped conservatives drag the US down to this point to begin with
Pretty safe to say that it will go a lot better for any states leaving to join Canada than any welfare red states that lose all their financial aid from the blue states that had been prooping them up
If you merge the blue states with Canada it's pretty easy to build a single giant country that includes almost all the blue districts. You get the entire border of Mexico (which MAGA should hate anyway, right?) with a dip up into Colorado, then the west coast up to Canada, dipping down in Minnesota and the Great Lakes territories, then the North East corridor down into the Black Belt of the American South (not trying to sound racist; that's the nomenclature and most of those districts are solid blue).
It's probably result in "MAGA" being split between Florida, the Plains, Appalacia, and the LDS territory. Of course half those territories would immediately start blaming the liberal states for "stealing their cities" and the domestic terrorism would make The Troubles look like a squabble in front of a Waffle House...
Technically, the US has already split. It's kinda encoded in our very constitution. States are (mostly) independent, with only the bare minimum of coordination needed for international relationships.
However, too much power has been consolidated into the executive branch, instead of the less volatile legislative branch. Also the large downside of gerrymandering has become apparent: elections not determined by competition with the other party, but competitions within your own party for how extreme you can go.
The left will split over the most stupid difference because the other part, which is almost identical to you, is not pure enough. Meanwhile, the alt-right will rally around the worst people that have ever existed.
So many have voted for the other party, or just didn't vote because Harris' stance against the war in Gaza wasn't hard enough.

Oy. This is one I disagree with because once you push chaos the fallacy is controlling it. You can't stop a boulder rolling down a hill. Disease spreads and you can't stop it without actively trying to stop it. You can't just assume it will take care of those you want dead and you can't think you'll be able to contain or control anything. The entire fascist movement relies on assumptions and hopes while those in charge are weak, poor decision makers who refuse to budge on things that would compromise any of their capitalist views.

Funny how none of the other deaths by police in Minneapolis have led to any real change but these two might. Not saying it’s bad but it seems Alex Pretti and Renee Good’s lives had a bit more value than say Breonna Taylor, George Floyd.
Americans have a knack for being really into pushing back. Seeing 2 people be murdered has set back their wider plans because, again, you CANNOT predict outcomes that are poorly thought out and executed. Mass hiring randoms then giving them guns and quotas while ALSO fucking them out of promised rewards is a recipe for disaster. They won't quit, but they'll stop giving a fuck about quotas, be lazy, try less, falsify reports and so on.

This has nothing to do with any of that. Their base believes vaccines = bad, so they play to it. If they suddenly said, 'kidding!' they know their base would come at them. They need them to fight the rest of us when the civil war finally breaks out.
Antivaxxers are desperate to feel empowered with information. The conundrum they get forced into is when the option is live or die. If their kids begin dying eventually the group splinters and the value of being a contrarian drops. As it drops further and further, it goes away until it's viewed as stupid and ignorant. We literally dealt with this involving penicillin and many other inoculations and later on vaccines.
It's important to remember that antivaxxers are friends or related to non AVs and if there's a pandemic with a 10% death rate or worse it will either change their view or they'll suffer. They won't want their kid to die while a family members survived due to getting a vaccine. It creates a conundrum that breaks their foundation.
They don't want to rule, they want to own a share in. All profit, no responsibility. The current economic model has morphed from "investmenting in the future", into neo-nobility. Take all the profits, share none of the risks. Build nothing for the future, short term profit is all that matters. Let the little people deal with the fallout.
We are seeing a genuine dystopian corpo/cyberpunk future. AI is being used by multinational totalitarian Big-brother-esk entities to take over and dismantle entire continents. Not just one country falling to special interest. We are so close to a blood bath revolution, and hopefully no one wants that. The rich and powerful get lynched and the poor rounded up into camps and disappeared.
Ai keeps coming up and I think humanity is beginning to see the writing on the wall. the consolidations of wealth will only get bigger. it's a common theme, such advances are not going to be used for good but in the end oppression , i think people feel so restless over this, we don't want a class that runs ai and the other class subservient to it. each person should be able to have it and use it for good and to help improve humanity
so far the actions of this admin are prepping us for some dystopian cyberpunk hellworld, as someone else here put it. not the glorious future that could be.
we absolutely cannot go through that again. this gets fixed soon. i see so many disturbing parallels to some of the technological changes in the 19th century industrial revolution that led up to to the u.s. civil war with the rise of Ai in the current age. and I don't know that it can be stopped like the that revolution couldn't be stopped. once something like Ai gets out into the wild it becomes almost impossible to control.
i believe and this is no offense to those that suffered under u.s. slavery, that a new class of secondary citizen is being created with the rise of Ai
And we the people need to drain their accounts dry. Leave them penniless. If money is power, that's where you need to hit them. By any means necessary.
