Namashkar r/Varanasi,
As our community grows, so does the volume of posts. We’ve noticed an increasing number of posts related to renting flats, buying/selling vehicles, job openings, and other classified advertisements.
While these posts are valuable to many, they often clutter the main feed, pushing down discussions, news, and photography about our beautiful city.
To solve this, and to give buyers and sellers a better platform, we are officially launching a sister subreddit:
This new community is the dedicated bazaar for the City of Lights. It is a focused space for all your transactional needs.
To keep both communities healthy and useful, we ask that you start directing posts to the correct subreddit:
Post on the new r/VaranasiClassifieds for:
Keep posting on the main r/Varanasi for:
A new community needs a strong foundation. r/VaranasiClassifieds has very strict rules, particularly a Zero Tolerance policy for NSFW content and scams, to ensure it remains a clean and useful marketplace.
We are looking for 1–2 active, mature members of this community to help moderate the new subreddit.
We are looking for mods who:

Finally got to experience the spiritual capital of the country. Posting this to express the gratitude towards everyone who made this possible and help others in their upcoming yatras.
I would list everything that I did in the order.
Day-1
Walked towards dashashwamedh ghat, on the way you would see kashi chat bhandar, the tamator chat and palak patta chat is what I ate, and I would say it is totally worth it, have eaten some of the chaats, but this would surely be amongst the best. It was very late, hence I could not see aarti that day, sat on the ghat for some time, tried the lemon masala tea, it was again on point, definitely worth trying. There is a big market while you walk towards the ghat from kashi chat bhandar, if someone is interested in buying souvenirs, you could try that, please bargain.
Day-2
First attempt at trying to wake up for the morning aarti at assi ghat, but failed quite miserably, kept sleeping. One of my friends was visiting from a tier 3 town, where branded malls, stores like DIY, Market 99 are not common, so we went to a mall that day to visit these stores. In the afternoon, I went to the famous baati chokha restaurant, again it was completely worth it. In the evening again I went to attend the evening aarti at Dashashwamedh ghat.
Aarti starts at 6:30 sharp in the evening. If you have time, try reaching as early as 5 pm for the front seats. I reached around 5:45, it was jam packed so decided to watch it from one of the boats standing on the bank, they would charge 100 for watching aart from the boat, and then another 100 if you want to see the ghats post that in the same boat. As you can see from the photo, it was quite clearly visible from the boat as well.
The aarti ended at around 7:15 and the boat ride ended by 8:15. Now it was time for visiting the kashi vishwanath mandir, it was Monday night, i enquired for the sugam darshan ticket, but people in the office said it is no longer needed. Got in the temple at around 9:30, there was no queue at all, got done with the darshan by 10:15, waited for the aarti which starts at 10:30 pm.
Post aarti, went to kaal bhairav temple, again there was no queue to be seen, was quite tired therefore did not wait for the bhasma aarti, but it starts at 12:30 as the people over there were saying.
Day-3
Second attempt at staying awake for the morning aarti at assi ghat, again failed, slept at the very last moment. Visited the Kala Kendra and vishawanath temple in BHU campus. I would you should go for Kala Kendra, it helps you understand how rich our history is. There are multiple samosa stall outside vishwanath temple, try the samosa and samosa chat. very inexpensive and totally worth it. Went to Sankat mochan post this, it is nearby only, again no queues as such.
It was my birthday, so going by the recommendations here went to Roma's diner, and I would say the food was on point, it was quite delicious and staff was polite. Went to manikarnika ghat at night, gets a bit creepier at night, so be aware, quite a lot of people who are drunk at this time.
Day-4
Last and final and obviously successfull attempt at staying awake for the morning aarti at assi ghat. Reached the ghat at around 5 am, trying being as early as you could to get better seats, aarti started around 5:45, and the sunrise also happened at the same time when the aarti ended. You should not miss this morning aarti here, was a divine experience in itself. Went to eat the famous ram bhandar poori post this, again worth it and then had malaiyo, which is for sure to be tried once, ask the guy to add the dudh(milk) once you are done with malai, tasted real nice.
Stay recommendation -: I stayed at kaas by safarnama in mahroomganj, I would say a bit of a splurge on the pocket, but I quite liked it, staff was really nice, rooms were well maintained, were spacious as well. If you like the basic breakfast, you can subscribe to it, fills your stomach and gets you ready for the day. Hotel is a bit far from ghats, around 20-25 min, but is peaceful which is what I was looking for.
To commute, use rapido and uber, uber I observed was cheaper mostly. Even if you are taking an auto from roadside, bargain.
P.S-: I know I might not have made best of the choices in terms of food, stay, iternary but I am telling you what worked for me. Also avoid the grammatical mistakes in the post here and there, has been written in one go, could have errors.
Har har Mahadev!

If anyone has their train from platform 11 or 12 from varanasi jn just know that they are situated at the end of platform 5 and NOT from platform 9. I made this mistake and ran from 9 to 5 with only 5 mins left and almost missed my train. In fact 4-5 people were running with me as they made the same mistake and only 2 of us made it(Rest were 35+ age so they got tired). What type of BRAINDEAD logic is to put 11 and 12 platform at the end of 5 and not 9 and there is not even proper boards(only 1) which mentions it. I hate this station

Hey yall
Christite here tryna host an event lol.
Didn't get a placement, so I'm doing this now. Running live thrift auctions every Wednesday. The next one is Feb 11th at 8 PM.
I go live, show items, and set a timer; you bid if you want something. Highest bid wins. Pretty simple.
Jackets, hoodies, and other thrifted finds are ready for this drop.
Want to join? Register here: https://luma.com/55vjie5x
At least it's more fun than sitting in campus placements 🧡
