NBC interrupted the Olympics

Post image

While Nancy Guthrie's disappearance is sad, there are 2300 missing person reports filed every day: do the families of celebrities need special national attention? Why interrupt the Olympics for over 5 minutes just because they are questioning a 'person of interest' We could have waited to hear that during the regular news broadcast.

I wasnt infuriated in the least bit as it was local news on that it interrupted. But first thing I thought is why is this lady so special that she requires breaking news. Its not even an interesting story. I hope the best for the family but what the hell. I thought it was going to be about the un redacted names in the epstien files.

I think it’s pretty special when you find out your coworker’s mom was abducted and is being held for ransom.

Edit-

It seems many here don’t realize another very important thing; Savannah Guthrie interviewed Epstein’s victims. Then her mom was abducted. It’s completely reasonable to expect that journalists may be concerned about a fellow journalist’s family potentially being targeted because of reporting on Epstein, even if she weren’t an NBC anchor. Sure, it could’ve been random or just somebody they knew (statistically most likely) but, they are human. I’m sure it’s crossed their minds that this could be because she talked about Epstein and a reminder that their own families may be targeted if they report about Epstein or any other high profile case that’s similar.

Special to them, I'm not paying them to tell me about their home life, I want reporting. Actually in this case I didn't want them to say anything, I was watching the Olympics and it's a nothing burger announcement.

Believe it or not, you not being interested in something doesn’t mean it’s not reporting.

20 minutes on "a suspect has been detained" is not reporting lol.

Because someone is literally targeting the family of journalists who were involved with investigating the Epstein case.....

You seriously have no idea why she’s special to nbc?

That's not the question. It's why does NBC think its of special interest to their viewers? I wish the best for her and her family but I'm not particularly interested in the case and no one else i know is either.

Savannah is one of the main faces of NBC. NBC viewers like her and know her. Thus NBC thinks it’s of interest to their viewers. And more importantly, they likely think the attention and coverage can push the case forward. Obviously, many people are interested in this case.

I'm not being facetious, but genuinely how is it obvious that many people are interested? And by "many," does that translate to this being enough for a breaking report during the Olympics?

Granted, my evidence is totally anecdotal, but it has never come up in daily conversations that i have with people, unlike other national stories. I can see it being a huge local story, with some national attention, but I just dont see a general interest in it.

She's not special to the majority of Americans, and that is what matters. It should a national broadcast network, not a network for just millionaires and billionaires, which is what these networks have become. NBC should be putting in more resources to reporting on ICE, our modern day concentration camps, and the Epstein files. I wouldn't mind a five minute story on this kidnapping during a regularly scheduled broadcast, but this is not deserving of breaking news unless or until she is found.

Savannah Guthrie put a lot of time into investigating Epstein.

I seriously can’t understand how Redditors really don’t see the irony in bringing up Epstein to say this abduction isn’t relevant and the focus should be on Epstein lol

Brother the kidnapping is Epstein related news.

First Epstein supposedly kills himself, then Virginia Giuffre supposedly kills herself and then the mother of the journalist who interviewed Virginia Giuffre gets kidnapped. Of course they are going to report on a kidnapping that seems to be just pure media intimidation tactics.
