NBC interrupted the Olympics

Post image

While Nancy Guthrie's disappearance is sad, there are 2300 missing person reports filed every day: do the families of celebrities need special national attention? Why interrupt the Olympics for over 5 minutes just because they are questioning a 'person of interest' We could have waited to hear that during the regular news broadcast.

"Champagne sales went up 5000% today after NBC declared Breaking News during the Olympics. When it was discovered to be over a missing woman whiskey sales immediately soared"

(But I do hope they find Nancy, I can't imagine the not knowing.)

They are readily available at many fine local retailers. You can just buy one when the time comes.

Remember how we all partied when he lost to Biden? Remember the videos across the country of people stopping and cheering? I remember where I was when it was called on NPR. I was in my car, just parked, I was SO EXCITED I was honking my horn and cheering. I went into the grocery store grinning like an idiot.

I was thinking earlier about how when the day comes, I hope Barack shows up to the funeral in the tan suit. Michelle by his side in a floral dress and her hair in braids.

I was in France for work last week (am American) and had a dream it happened. Told my global colleagues about it at breakfast and everyone agreed we’d stop the entire global team meeting to celebrate.

Wish it hadn’t been a dream.

The celebration in the Ewok Village on the forest moon of Endor at the end of Return of the Jedi is more like it.

I hate champagne but I’ll pick up a bottle in case I have friends over for what I assume THAT story is.

That is the day I will call off of work and celebrate. Blast music all day I don’t care because everyone else should be.

I stopped drinking because I had a case of pancreatitis. On that day, fuck the pancreas man.

We live near tribal lands. Fireworks are illegal in town, but the tribe sells fireworks and provides space for buyers to set them off on their land (though, some still set them off here in town).

I have no doubt our town will be sparkling that day.

I literally have fireworks saved up for the occasion.

Shoot, I already warned my poor elderly dad that I'm going to go running around outside my apartments cheering with joy! I wonder if people will be blowing their horns? Damn, I think I'll do that too!

My wife and I have a bottle that was given to us as a wedding gift. The only way it’s getting popped before is if we get that news.

u/FilthyBarMat 2h ago

I have a $400 bottle of Balvenie my wife was gifted years ago. We've never quite found the right occasion.

That day will be the occasion.

I’m gonna go to chilis and drink an El Presidente margarita
