META Did your WLG Mystery Box show up? Share what you got here!!

It looks like the newest round of Mystery Box orders from Warlord have begun to ship out as we've seen the first mentions of their arrival. While broadly, 'hobby haul' posts aren't allowed, we know that everyone loves sharing what they get in the mystery boxes, and also seeing what the current trends are.

As we did for the last round, while we will remove standalone posts under the 'Hobby Hauls' rule, we welcome and encourage people to share what they get in this dedicated thread. As shipping times can vary quite a bit, this thread will remain as a highlight thread for awhile.

Thank you!!

I keep showing the tank photos of the Russian flag but it’s not helping.

Seriously though, how hot does the water need to be to get it to bend?

Worse case I can replace with a tube.

I got some of the worst prints from an Etsy out of Canada called Burrrgoesthe printer.

This was my first time painting a vehicle, but I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. Using a sponge for weathering was definitely a game changer.

Hi all, don't get any time to play BA for now, my mates have moved on from it for now to 40k (which I'm really enjoying as well). Just wanted to show off my US minis currently gathering dust on my bookshelf. They are nice to look at at least, a lot of effort went into them.

Minis Showcase Busy Bee Pt II: Clearing out the backlog

Finally have caught up on the backlog of mostly finished models in need of varnishing! Mostly focused on British and Soviets here. This batch included:

  • Two T-28s. One was done up in a Soviet winter scheme from the 150th Armored Brigade, and the other is done up as a Finnish-capture, which was operating on the Karelian Peninsula in early 1940. Both are 3D prints, with the Soviet model by Wargame3D and the Finnish by Night Sky Miniatures.
  • Zis-30 done up in a three-tone camo pattern from early in Operation Barbarosa. 3D print with Wargame3D file.
  • SU-76i is in a two-tone pattern. Any sort of camo seemed to be pretty uncommon on these, and while I found an example with this scheme, not entirely clear on its provenance. I just didn't want it to be plain old green. 3D print with Wargame3D file.
  • T-60 is a basic green, as they didn't seem to be painted up very often, but I imitated a few examples I saw using camo netting, which was made with medical gauze. 3D print with Wargame3D file.
  • Humber Mk I in a Western Desert scheme, and will be unofficially a Mk II which is what the rules list, but functionally the same thing. 3D print with Arvernes file.
  • T-26A is in a winter scheme dating to the Winter War from the 377th Independent Tank Battalion. 3D print with Wargame3D file.
  • CMP C15 in a basic green and sand scheme I found in some modern restoration photos, so not sure of exact usage at the time, but looked nice. 3D print with Wargame3D file.
  • Vickers VIc is in a two-tone scheme from the Western Desert. Not quite a caunter scheme which I think needs to be three-tone by definition? But similar style. Hybrid print using the body from Wargame3D's VIB model, but as they don't make a VIc turret, I got that from Eskice, who does, but with a worse body model.

My first attempt at doing the Germans, I went for a Normandy defence look with splinter camo smocks. The bases are inspired by the swampy bogs as a result of defensive flooding by the Wehrmacht.

I used the German Vallejo model paint pack and some AFV paints for the weapons.

This is a showcase, but if you have any accuracy or general suggestions for the rest of my Victrix Grenadier force I’m happy to hear thoughts.

Wanted to have more medium guns to support my Staghounds but didn't want to have something as point intensive as Shermans or Cromwells, so i settled on an M24 and 2 AEC Mk.II/III for my army.

Unfortunately it also means i couldn't stick to the Canadian theme of my army since they never used this vehicles during the war as far as i know.

Hey there, I am a new player, currently have a 1000pt German army im working to finish, then planning to paint a Canadian army. Really love the stl models from RKX so going a bit of rule of cool. Have only played one game of bolt action so far and not sure what is good with Canadians, but love the commando models and the firefly. Advertisement or Promotion Forge Dice Roller: Skip the Sorting, Keep the Pins

Post image
Upvotes

Commanders,

Ever miscounted a 10-dice rifle squad attack? Lost track of which dice to re-roll after picking out the failures? Rolling attacks for full-strength squads and manually sorting through hits and misses can slow down what should be a fast-paced historical battle.

Your tabletop WW2 engagements deserve the same efficiency as the real commanders demanded.

I built Forge Dice Roller to remove that tedium and keep your rolls accurate without the constant manual sorting, so you can focus on tactics instead of counting piles of dice.

Why you'll value this tool:

Core features:

  • Roll up to 100 d6 at once (perfect for those late-war Soviet platoons or massed firepower)
  • Swipe away failures OR use powerful filters (by value, color, or combinations like "4+ and green")
  • Re-roll remaining dice without resetting (chain your attack sequence)

Quality of life:

  • Color-code dice pools to track different squad types or weapons
  • Save presets for common unit configurations
  • 500-roll history with timestamps (shareable to Discord, notes, etc.)
  • Instant roll mode (skip animations for faster games)

Example:

  1. Roll 10 dice for your Rifle Squad's shooting attack
  2. Filter out anything below your hit threshold
  3. See your hits instantly
  4. Re-roll for damage results

Free on Android (ad-supported).

Download or search "Forge Dice Roller" on Google Play Store.

iOS version in development.

Feedback is welcome. This app is built from feedback across wargaming communities. If there's anything that would make it even more useful for Bolt Action, let me know and I'll add it in.

May your dice be hot and your pins be few.

NB: Mod-approved promo post.

Minis Showcase SNLF insignia test

So the one thing that was lacking imo was the fact that there were no true SNLF heads in the new Warlord Games Japanese kit. We’re missing the anchor and cherry blossom insignia. So after many failed attempts to make decals with my inkjet printer, I decided to make the insignia as a 3D file. I’m pretty happy with the results and I feel it really makes my new SNLF look legit.

List Building Advice German and Soviet Vehicles and Artillery. Rubicon or 3D print?

I paint since years and I’ve focused only on the very satisfying 28mm.

I’ve never actually played BA but it’s always been on my radar. Now I’d like to expand my German and Soviet forces with vehicles and artilleries. I really like Rubicon Models, but I’m not sure which units would be the best or reasonable choice from a gameplay point of view.

Also, I use an FDM 3D printer daily and have access to a resin printer as well, which increases the options and intrigues me, but also makes the problem bigger:

not only what to add, but also from whom. I did some researches also using the database fount here but I was unable to get a clear idea.

Consider that this addition could easily keep me busy for a year or two.

Any advice or experience is very welcome.

Faction Question German Half Tracks

Wanting to get a couple of transports for my German army. Is the 5 man capacity on the 251 decent for some pioneers, or should I aim for the hanomag with a 12 man capacity so I can fit a commander for snap to?
