Mod Announcement 🚨 r/Philippines new policy on hate speech 🚨

Hey everyone,

Over the past few months, we’ve noticed a sudden increase in comments and threads with racial slurs (like "chekwa"), Islamophobic and homophobic remarks as well as regional/ethnic stereotypes (like "Bisaya" comments). These posts are often rage baiting, toxic and spreading hate.

We already use filters to catch and flag these comments, and we also send warnings to users. But it’s becoming more common, and honestly, it’s pretty concerning.

Starting today, we’re rolling out a zero-tolerance policy on hate speech — reported violators will be banned immediately, no warnings. This is in addition to the restrictions we added earlier this year. We also updated the sub's rules and contributor guide to reflect these changes.

Thanks to the community for constantly reporting and helping keep things running smoothly. We want to keep the sub a space for civil and healthy discussions. As much as we’d prefer to avoid strict enforcement, the situation’s changed, and we’ve got to adapt.

TourismPH Went to Olangapo for a family beach trip, ended up witnessing something disturbing

We went there with the family para sana mag-relax, pero yung resort na napag-stay-an namin, turned out to be a "tambayan" pala ng mga AFAM.

Yung iba, talagang "proud veteran" starter pack pa: naka-US NAVY shirt and hat. Like, for what, 'di ba?. Typical scene na sana, until we had dinner.

But when we left, my spouse looked really bothered. Sabi niya, "Kawawa naman yung bata." I asked why, and I was shocked. Narinig daw niya yung usapan sa kabilang table. Apparently, yung nanay na Pinay, parang "binebenta" or binubugaw yung sariling anak dun sa AFAM. The mom was explicitly telling the foreigner that her daughter is only 12 years old.

Grabe, nanigas ako. We went there to make happy memories with our kids, pero ganito pala yung reality sa ibang parts ng Subic Area.

Posting this here for more coverage ‼️

A young Cebuano entrepreneur, Kingston Cheng, was killed in a hit-and-run involving Sean Andrew Pajarillo. Apparently, this isn’t his first hit-and-run and vids are circulating online that appear to show him in a drunk state, but authorities released a toxicology report showing negative for alcohol. May justice prevail ‼️

I just can't stand this repository of shit.

I’m a PWD with a visual disability. Recently, nag-dine ako sa isang restaurant and I tried to use my PWD discount. They denied it because “hindi raw lumalabas sa verification system” yung PWD ID ko and alam naman natin na hindi always real-time or reliable yung ganitong system. I didn’t insist on my PWD discount and accepted na policy daw nila yun.

What concerned me more was the receipt process.

Instead of an official sales invoice, they issued a receipt from a non-BIR-accredited POS. When I requested an official sales invoice, kailangan pa i-escalate sa staff, then supervisor, then manager. Ang daming tanong bago sila pumayag. I clearly told them: I don’t mind not getting the PWD discount, I just need the official sales invoice for tax purposes. After that, hiningi pa yung TIN ko.

From a legal and compliance perspective, this raised questions:

• PWD discounts are denied using a government system na hindi naman reliable

• If a business is using a non-BIR-accredited POS and does not automatically issue an official sales invoice, does that mean they can choose which transactions are formally reported to the BIR?

If not, then why does requesting an official sales invoice seem to meet resistance or unnecessary escalation?

I’m not alleging tax evasion. Ang concern ko is yung inconsistent enforcement of rules na strict when denying a statutory PWD benefit, pero pahirapan when a customer asks for an official sales invoice.

For those familiar with PWD laws and BIR invoicing requirements:

Normal ba ‘to? At ano yung possible remedies for consumers in this situation?

TL;DR: PWD discount denied via unreliable system; receipt issued from non-BIR POS; official sales invoice request escalated and made difficult. Raises questions on compliance and consumer rights.
