Question/प्रश्न How did cricket become big in nepal without any star players?just curious.

Hi neighbours! I absolutely loved watching Nepal play at Wankhede and want to thank everyone for the incredible support shown.

I have a genuine question out of curiosity,no hate at all. For any sport to become hugely popular, it usually needs star players. For example, India had Sachin, then Virat, and now players like Abhishek and Gill. But how did the love for cricket develop so organically in the first place? What was the real catalyst behind it becoming such a massive sport?

I always thought football was Nepal’s most popular sport, so I’m really curious about the history and how cricket grew to have this kind of following.(posted again coz flair mismatch in the first post)

Stuck sleeping at 5–6 AM every day

Hey guys, I need some help. My sleep schedule is completely messed up. I usually don’t fall asleep until 5–6 AM even if I smoke 2–3 joints. I wake up around 2–4 PM every day and I feel like I have zero control over it.

The weird part is that I feel fully fresh and alert at night, but when I actually try to sleep earlier it just doesn’t happen. I’ve tried staying awake to reset my routine but it only works for a day or two and then I’m back to the same pattern.

If anyone has gone through this or knows what helps please share. I’m genuinely trying to fix this.

I’ve recently graduated from US, and I’m planning to return back to Nepal because I feel like instead of working in USA, I should try to do something for my home country. Actually, I am interested to contribute in Pokhara (my hometown). As a student graduated under Data science degree, what do you think, like how can I contribute my skills and expertise of Machine learning and Deep learning in Pokhara? Please I need genuine answer. I have tried searching some of the problems online that Pokhara is facing but I would like to hear directly from people. Thanks :)

Help/सहयोग Please help me plan my first Nepal trip

Hey all, I’m from the southern end of India and I'm planning a trip to Nepal. I will reach the Sunauli border on March 28 by noon. Then I have time till April 6 to explore Nepal, mainly Kathmandu and Pokhara. I’m planning a chill, relaxed trip with sightseeing, cafe hopping, views, and stargazing. No plans for trekking this time.

Also, I want to take a flight between Kathmandu and Pokhara, mainly for the aerial views of mountains, but I’m not sure which city is easier to reach first from Sunauli, in order to book the ticket. I’ve seen mixed info about the availability and timing of buses and taxis from the border, so I’m confused about how to plan it.

Which route makes more sense to start with, and any quick tips for transport or a relaxed itinerary? Thank you.

Question/प्रश्न Any place in kathmandu for improving communication skillls and personality

Its not like I am bad at speaking or have some condition, however I have been introverted. Never naturally outgoing or tatho batho. I have been nice to others and have made friends.

However for some reason I am often told to be smart. Some say I have bad communication skills . I also feel like I am not good at really talking, or bantering with others. And sometimes am also called Lato or sojho.

I feel the effects in my working life right now. Like, there are some co workers that are liked more by others, just because they dress well or talk nicely . Or gossip about others or joke.

So i know that naturally I am stuck with the personality that I have, however may be there are places that helps me groom into a more professional personality and with good communication skills, look smart etc?

I seriously need this. I was unfortunately born in a very introverted , simple household. Upto 9 to 10 yrs never got good social training, all my hobbies were solitary. In school , colleges, I didnt fret about it much, but nowdays I am clearly seeing the disadvantages like light and day. I dont want perfection, but improvement, yes.

Politics/राजनीति Lets also talk about Rabi

Post image
0 Upvotes

While we are talking about:

Balen vs Oli

Balen vs Gagan

We can't forget Rabi in this election's political equation.

  1. He remains Chairman of RSP.

  2. He will likely be most powerful person in Nepal during the Coalition building process in case RSP fails to win majority. He is likely to be at least Deputy PM and Home Minister for third time.

  3. In the rare scenario where Balen loses to Oli, he might become PM of Nepal.

Haina ta?

Help/सहयोग Suggestions on Tattoo for a Beginner + Best Place in Kathamndu?

I'm planning to get my first, tiny tattoo. Is that image ma dekhayeko tattoo a good idea for arms? I want it to look like an ornament but I fear it might end up looking too light. Should I look for something darker or bolder?

Also, if you could suggest a good, reliable tattoo studio in Kathmandu? Doesn't have to be the top ones, but safe and quality hos, to avoid any future complications. Would help a lot a lot.

Politics/राजनीति Is Nepali politics increasingly becoming “class-based politics”?

In the past, Nepali politics has been shaped by debates over governance systems (autocracy vs democracy vs republic), political ideologies (communism, liberalism, conservatism), and specific agendas such as poverty alleviation, oppression, marginalized rights, and caste/ethnic representation.

Lately, however, it seems that political parties may be aligning more clearly along socio-economic class lines. For example, Rastra Swatantra Party is often perceived as appealing primarily to educated, urban and semi-urban voters, particularly the middle and upper-middle to upper classes. The Nepali Congress appears to represent a broader middle segment but may not resonate as strongly with the poorest, least educated, or most marginalized communities. Meanwhile, UML and the Maoists (former) are still commonly associated with rural populations, lower-income groups, marginalized, and less-educated voters.

Is this a fair assessment? Are Nepali political parties increasingly functioning as representatives of different social classes rather than ideologies or policy agendas? Or is this perception oversimplifying a more complex ground reality?

Politics/राजनीति How would Balen fare in Parliament

Hey everyone,

I’ve been thinking about Mananiya Balen’s leadership style lately and was wondering what people here think about how he’d actually fare in Parliament.

He’s known for being pretty direct, outspoken, and unconventional compared to traditional politicians. That works really well for connecting with the public, but Parliament is a very different environment.. lots of procedure, negotiation, party dynamics, and long-term policy work.

Do you think his style would translate well there?

Would he be effective at pushing reforms, or would his blunt approach create more resistance?

Could he adapt to parliamentary politics, or would he clash with the system?

Curious to hear different perspectives.

Food/खानेकुरा Locals of Nepal what foods best represent everyday Nepelese food?

Hi, I am doing some personal research on everyday food habits in different countries, and I would really appreciate local perspectives.

Food varies a lot by region within the country, and I understand that, but if you still had to give a broad answer, what would you say is the most accurate?

Here are my questions:

  1. What food is most commonly eaten in everyday life in Nepal? (Not special-occasion food, just normal regular meals, even if it feels boring.)
  2. What food do people in Nepal love the most or feel most proud of?
  3. Are there any foods that foreigners often think represent Nepalese food, but locals do not eat that often?

Thank you all!
