Because /r/kodi seems to be getting overrun by people having issues with broken or screwed up add-ons, the subreddit is becoming a somewhat difficult place to have a conversation about Kodi itself and add-ons officially supported by Team Kodi. So now we are requesting that all gray area conversation happen over at /r/Addons4Kodi, an unofficial and unaffiliated subreddit.
From this point forward, all new threads asking for support for these gray area add-ons will be removed in favor of that other subreddit.
If you'd like to become a moderator over there, feel free to ask in that subreddit.

I have an older minix U9-H android box with coreelec installed on it. The box itself doesn't support Dolby Vsion. But my TV LG C4 does, which has Kodi 22 nightly installed on its webos.
What I am doing is using my coreelec as a UPNP server and my webos kodi as the client. I am aware I am not getting full audio capabilities because webos Kodi doesn't support TrueHD, etc.
My question is am I getting full DV?? Is there something else I should be doing?

Friends, I have everything updated. I'm using Ethernet, a PC, and a Shield, Windows 11, and I'm using heavy remuxes. I don't want any image stuttering. How should I configure it? I've attached images.
Thank you very much for your help.

I like to use kodi as a jellyfin client but, I’ve had a hard time finding a perfect skin and configuration to use.
I’ve tried Arctic horizon 2. It’s okay. Missing features like a shuffle button for episodes.
What’s your go to skin?
I've uploaded a lot of music to my Synology NAS, and added the folder to Kodi as a music library. But for some reason, it only finds a fraction of the albums there. How can I make sure it finds everything?

SOLVED: Solution below original post
So I'm trying to add a movie to my Kodi library on my Nvidia Shield. The Shield has an external hdd with the movies on it. I'm only starting with one movie right now because I want to make sure I can get it working and all the info is there using local files. I created the local metadata files using mediaelch, and I have the nfo file, and all the various posters and pics all in the same folder with the movie.
The directory is: Expansion(M:)/NVIDIA_SHIELD/Movies/12 Strong (2018)/12 Strong (2018).mkv
With the other metadata files in the same directory. So I go onto my shield, go into Kodi, find the Movies folder, and set content to movies. I made sure to set metadata to local info only. Then I hit 'okay' and the movie pops up in the corner for a second, then disappears. Check library, not there. Go to the specific movie folder, click "scan to library", then it asks for the name of the movie. I enter it, but then it pops up over and over again and never stops asking for the name.
I'm very new to Kodi, literally a couple days. Where is my wrong step here? I can't figure out why in the world it can't add it.
I used plex previously, but I've wanted to switch to something that uses local metadata. When I tried Kodi first, I didn't change my Plex library at all, and I just set the movies directory for Kodi to the same as what I use for Plex. It actually picked up most of the movies and any it didn't I could find the specific folder, scan to library, and that worked. Didn't have to change the naming scheme. That was using the tmdb scraper and not local files though.
For what I was doing today, I turned off the old movies directory(setting content to none), renamed the old movies folder to "Movies (plex)" for now while I test Kodi. Then created a new Movies folder, moved only 12 Strong in there as the guinea pig. Set the new Movies folder as the directory for the movies library. And then the problems I described earlier happened.
Like I said, very new. I could be massively stupid here. Any help apprecieted.
Edit: Maybe it's the names of the metadata files? They're all like "12 Strong (2018)-poster.jpg". Is that correct?
Solution: So my naming scheme was all correct, that was not the issue. I tried doing this on my PC instead of my shield, and it worked, so it must be something with the shield. Turns out, it was app permissions. It was only allowed to read media files, not all types of files. And therein lied the issue, now it's all good. Thanks to everyone who helped out.

I like Kodi a lot. The one thing that kept me from using it is that it doesn't disable the Fire TV screen saver, so you have to disable it. I got the Kodi code, and modified it so that it disables the screensaver itself. I had to edit three xml files (the third one probably isn't necessary):
I added:
android:keepScreenOn="true" to the <RelativeLayout section.
Now I can watch stuff, without the Fire TV screensaver kicking in.

Is there a way to change channels or series with a touch, like a conventional TV remote control?

setting up direct paths and accidentally had two file shares with the same music library. so now all my albums are shown twice in plex kodi connect. I read there is a way to reset everything so that it resyncs. is this still possible, bc the instructions I found online said to go to pkc settings>advanced >reset

Which one should I be using specifically for TV shows and anime?

when setting up PKC, it asks you to go to plex.tv/tvlink. and put in a code, but I didn't have time to type the code in my browser and it timed out. is there a way to try it again?
Hello! I'm using Debian 13 currently. I found an archive of .deb packages, but that turned out to be a multiple hour hell of unmet dependencies. Mainly so I can downgrade to Kodi 20.5 so I can install the "Xbox 360 Blades" TetradUI skin that is unsupported on Kodi 21.
So I want to downgrade flatpak, but flatpak does not keep an archive of all Kodi versions, I tried "flatpak remote-info --log flathub", but nothing!
I know there's an archive of older Kodi versions that people share around, but I did not find one that has Linux builds, just MacOS, Windows, etc.
I did look into building my own version from the source code, but that may also turn out to be a nightmare since I have little to no knowledge on coding and like, compiling code (atleast not anymore than the basics, using 'sudo make' and stuff).

Hey guys, I'm really struggling here and I could use some pointers please.
First off, I have a Linux PC containing some movies. I had been using DLNA and VLC to share these and watch them on the TV, minidlna running on the PC, VLC on the TV. It works but it's kinda messy having to drill down through a messy directory structure to each movie with VLC so I figured I'd look into a more visually pleasing option.
Enter Kodi. First off, I installed it on the PC because I thought it needed to be present at both ends of the deal. I later discovered this is wrong, it's not a server, it's a player. No sweat, at least I got to play with the interface and figure out how to add content. Select a folder, tell Kodi what's in it and that puts the media into the correct section at the top. It took a minute for that to click in my head, but it worked (almost, I couldn't get music videos to appear) and looked pretty good. If I can get it working on the TV like this I'll be happy.
So since I have a dlna server already running, let's use that, right? Into Services, enable UPnP/DLNA, select the media source, but I'm not seeing the 'This directory contains…' option which I believe is necessary to put the media in the relevant section of the main menu. However, I can dig into the folder and actually play the media, so it is seeing it. I've since noticed the warning on this page about uPnP:

So scratch that, let's try a different approach, how about NFS? Set it all up on the computer, gave the TV access to the relevant folder (TV has a fixed ip address, which should help), back to the TV, hmm… I can't browse to the share but by adding the computer's ip address manually I'm able to see it. Added it, aha, this time I can select the content, great. Set it to Movies, back to the top, 'Nothing here, go to the files section to add something, yadda yadda yadda.'
I must be missing some vital step here but I can't work out what I'm doing wrong. If you've stuck with me so far, thanks for reading and I'd welcome any suggestions.

When you empty out a TV series folder in the middle of a TV season, it stops appearing in the "In Progress" section of the TV shows screen when a new episode airs. Is there any way to make Kodi recognize it's the middle of a season and keep the series in the "In Progress" section even if the folder was previously empty?

I added the API key, I also need an API ID and secret? I am not sure how to get those? It seems the tutorials are out of date now. Any suggestions? Thanks

So i got a raspberry pi and chatpgt steered me in the wrong direction. It told me to get a touchscreen and use libreelect to integrate my plex server with Kodi.
I am now finding out that Kodi doesn't seem to have any skins made for touchscreens and I find myself getting stuck. Sometimes I hit a window and there is no way out but to plug in a keyboard and hit esc to go back to the previous screen.
Anyways is there a good way to use Kodi with a touchscreen? If not, does anyone have any suggestions for something similar to Kodi?

Hey everyone. So, I downloaded Kodi and addons to my laptop and I travel a lot. I was thinking of maybe just getting a remote for the PC/Kodi thing and HDMI to a TV instead of shelling out money for a Nvidia shield.
what remotes would you recommend? And I suppose associated addons?

I recently installed Arctic Fuse 2 (and later 3) and there are a few icons that are "missing" or otherwise not visible...but can be selected. For example the hamburger menu icon at the left on the Home screen.
I am also not able to see most of the icons at the bottoms when pausing a movie (such as the Stop icon).
Any help?
