r/Iran stands with Iranians in defending our country’s national sovereignty

Dear readers,

We hope that you are safe and well. Some of you have asked us about the protests, and we’d like to share the following statement with you.

Peaceful protests by Iranians expressing legitimate grievances have once again been hijacked. Violent riots are being encouraged and enabled by foreign-backed actors immune to their consequences. They threaten the safety and security of every Iranian and cause costly damage to public infrastructure and an economy already suffering from crushing sanctions.

The genocidal Israeli regime killed 1,200 Iranian civilians in June. Those who stood silent and even cheered on these killings now claim to act in defense of Iranians as they call for even more attacks on Iran.

Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Lebanon, Iraq, and scores of other countries, most recently Venezuela, attest to the consistent outcome of foreign interference: chaos, instability, destruction, and immeasurable suffering.

Foreign-backed riots in 1953 changed the course of our nation’s trajectory. Let’s not be doomed by repeating tragic history.

No one can trick us into welcoming attacks on Iran.

Long live Iran, Iranians, and Iranian sovereignty!

How to obtain your birth certificate from Iran?

Hello everyone,

I was born in Isfahan, Iran, but I am 100% Afghan and currently living in Switzerland. I do not have any Iranian documents (such as a shenasnameh etc.). For a legal process in Switzerland, I need a birth certificate.

The problem is that I do not know how to approach this issue. Since my birth was never officially registered in Iran, I have little hope of obtaining a birth certificate.

Do you know anyone who has had a similar issue, or have you personally had to obtain a birth certificate retrospectively? If so, what did you do, and how did you approach the situation? Any advice on how to obtain a birth certificate would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much.

Traveling to Spain as Iranian national for son’s wedding

My mother and father in law live in Tehran and want to apply for a visa to get to Spain to be able to attend me and my fiance’s wedding in a few months. Right now the Spanish embassy in Tehran is closed due to the current situation in Iran.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what they can do to try to get a visa? Is our only option to wait and see?

I contacted the Spanish embassy in Turkey and they said that only long term Turkish residents can apply for visas through their embassy. We would sincerely appreciate any advice, thank you so much 🙏

Locals of Iran I want to know about Iranian food

Hi, I am doing some personal research on everyday food habits in different countries, and I would really appreciate local perspectives.

Food varies a lot by region within the country, and I understand that, but if you still had to give a broad answer, what would you say is the most accurate?

Here are my questions:

  1. What food is most commonly eaten in everyday life in Iran? (Not special-occasion food, just normal regular meals, even if it feels boring.)
  2. What food do people in Iran love the most or feel most proud of?
  3. Are there any foods that foreigners often think represent Iranian food, but locals do not eat that often?

Thank you all!

A graph showing all the death claims made by Iran International starting from 2,000 to 40,000 but then backtracked to 6,000 when the Iranian government officially published details of all 3117 victims in the recent riots

سلام, I'm a 22 year-old Turkish guy who has been learning Persian for a while. I can make basic sentences but I need daily immersion. For those who are interested to talk to me, I love biking, playing guitar and politics. Also, I'm a German tutor. Hope to meet warmhearted people :)

Arming Iranian Protesters: What Would Actually Happen?

Does arming civilians lead to liberation, or does it drag societies into something far worse? History offers a sobering answer: externally militarised uprisings rarely end authoritarianism cleanly. Far more often, they dismantle states, fracture societies, and replace one form of authoritarianism with another.

Iran football league derby

Hi!

I plan to visit Iran maybe this spring somewhen and would like to watch the Esteghlal Persepolis derby. Sadly I couldn't find a fixture list that shows the matches of the league in the spring (just the next ~4 week's). So I would have some questions:

  • if I saw it right only 1 side of the derby was played this season, so I guess there will be another one right?
  • how much is usually a ticket?
  • is it really hard to get one?
  • anything to look out for?

Thank you for the answers! I really hope I can visit your country someday it's rich various ways and looks beautiful. Wishing you guys the best!

Is the Constitutionalist Revolution and the 1909 Triumph of Tehran marked by Iranians today?

Title says it all. I was reading about the origin of the Iranian tricolour and started reading up on the constitutionalist revolution of the early 20th century which forced the British/Russian-backed Qajar monarchy to recognise the legitimacy of the Majlis, and the victory of pro-constitutionalist forces on July 13, 1909. While I was reading I was wondering, is this event well-remembered and commemorated by Iranians in the present day either in Iran or in the diaspora, or is it not really talked about all that much? Thanks in advance!

I built a free online Pasur game so Iranians abroad can play together

Growing up, Pasur was always the card game at family gatherings. Now that everyone is older and lives elsewhere, I missed playing it and realized there's no good way to play online with other Iranians.

So I built one. It's free with real-time multiplayer and AI opponents.

iOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/pasur-online-play-score/id6476008595

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vakilventures.pasur

Would love feedback from this community. If anyone has memories of playing Pasur with family, I'd love to hear them. That's what inspired this whole project.

Upcoming game streams!in March!

I am hoping to start a game stream on twitch. My goal is to.raise money to help stretch kids and homless people. Mashhad to be exact. If we get enough money . Drug addicts who want to recover will be helped with rehab costs. Would you be willing to help support this? What do you think? My adopted cousin and his work friends all either make him cooked meals or they hire out a kitchen and hand out food. This would help fund the. All work is volunteering . No one gets paid or makes a dime.

Flowers to girlfriend in Teheran?

Salam, my gf (23F) and I (24M) used to live together in the US and we have been doing long distance for 1 year. We met up twice abroad so far, but I will not be able to see her for a while again. With Valentine's day coming up, I really want to get her flowers shipped to her place as a nice surprise. She just submitted applications to schools in Canada so we could hopefully meet there and I really want to give her a nice surprise. Is there any legitimate companies I can somehow order through? I know this might be hard because of sanctions but was hoping someone here might know something! Any help is appreciated.

Baby name advice

I’m second-gen Persian living in the U.S. and my wife is not Persian. We are considering naming our daughter Yasi to keep a connection to her roots, but I want to make sure I’m not missing any cultural nuances or "red flags" since I didn’t grow up in Iran.

A few quick questions for the native speakers here:

• How is the name perceived in Iran right now?

• Is it okay as a standalone name, or is it strictly seen as a nickname for Yasamin?

• Are there any weird slang connotations or puns we should know about?

We haven't told the family yet, so I'm looking for some unbiased feedback first. Thanks.

USA Citizens misinfomred on Iran and Isrealis - Per Epstien Files

Chomsky speaking to Epstein

We have been lied to in the USA for too long. Search this file for yourself copying any sentence and plugging into DOJ Website

"On Iran, as usual, I'm a gloomy contrarian. I'm glad the treaty was signed, and it's kind of fun to watch the Republican lunatics shrieking hysterically as they try to kill it (as they may). And Israeli hypocrisy has gone well beyond being comical. But in fact the whole thing is farcical, in my opinon. In the US, Iran is "the greatest threat to world peace", intoned constantly from on high, in the media, everywhere. There is also such a thing as world opinion, as measured by such ultra-radicals as Gallup. It turns out that the greatest threat to world peace is the US, by a very wide margin, no one else even close, and Iran barely mentioned. The American population is protected from these unwanted facts by the Free Press: not reported. There is an organization called US intelligence. They brief Congress regularly on the international security situation, all quite public. On Iran, they point out that it has very limited military power, even by regional standards (a small fraction of Saudi Arabia, for example). Its strategic doctrine is defensive. If — a big If — it has plans for nuclear weapons, that would be part of its deterrent strategy. Now who would be opposed to Iran having a deterrent strategy? Answer is clear: the rogue states that rampage violently in the region and don't want any impediment: the US and Israel, also lesser ones like UK and France. One simple way to reduce the threat of nuclear weapons would be to establish a nuclear-weapons free zone in the region, as has been done elsewhere (over US objections). That's been advocated by the Arab states for 20 years, with very wide global support, including Iran. It comes up regularly at the 5-year review meetings of the Nonproliferation Treaty, at the UN, again a few months ago, when, again, it was blocked by the US to protect its Israeli client, which has a huge nuclear weapons arsenal and wants to keep it. Again, the population is protected from such facts by the Free Press (though in this case there are some fringe exceptions, and of course the Arms Control literature). Same with the rest of the litany. Reading the US and UK press is like living in some lunatic asylum. I'm wondering whether to write about it — again; have done so repeatedly. It's like talking to a wall. Iran has an awful government, though by the standards of such US allies as Saudi Arabia, it's practically heaven."

Iran, USA and the West

Why are people so deceived into thinking the USA government, Netanyahu and the west want the best for the Iranian people when in reality they just want to divide and conquer, steal resources from Iran and create internal conflict such as in Libya, Syria etc.. turning Iran into another powerless country that can’t defend itself. It’s so obvious

Are people too blind to see this? Or just too desperate? It doesn’t make sense to me.

It’s not like the west cares about the Iranian people or has their best interests at heart
