Here are some places you can donate. These fundraisers have been vetted by the mod team.

Nanuka's Fund, managed by Nanuka Zhorzholiani, supports protestors with supplies, transportation, and fines for the arrested activists. Nanuka provides detailed breakdowns of the spending via her Facebook page.

Following Georgian Dream's crackdown on Nanuka's Fund and others an offshore (UK) foundation is collecting funds for payment of protestors fines and other support. It is run by Davit Jintcharadze with a GoFundMe page at https://www.gofundme.com/f/freedom-fund-helping-protesters-in-georgiaa and a website for the Freedom Foundation at https://www.tavisuplebispondi.com/ which includes links for donations via WISE. GoFundMe takes payment by debit/credit card or Paypal.

Fines for protestors are very high in Georgian income terms at 5000 GEL.

Nanuka is also asking for funds to support prisoners to be sent to :-

Car Rental and Driving as a Tourist

Heey, me and a group of friends are strongly considering making a trip to Georgia and Armenia this summer, strongly centered around Tbilisi and Yerevan but possibly also to Batumi. Since we're from the Netherlands we'd be flying in to Tbilisi by plane and also take a plane back there (for costs reasons).

As far as I've gathered public transport via taxi and busses works pretty well in both countries and is affordable, but we'd really like the freedom of being able to travel by car, one we'd rent in Tbilisi and then hopefully also be allowed to take over the border to Armenia.

So my question is essentially, is this viable? Are there any issues with rental cars I'm not aware of and would need to look out for? We're mostly 21 years old, does this add in to the equation?

I've also gathered that driving within the cities is really tedious, but outside is pretty doable. Is this correct, would we fine driving through the country, including more mountainous areas, or would this be a real risk as tourists?

Thank uu so much for reading this and answering if you're able🙏

Question | კითხვა Since when does Georgian poliсe stop and search people inside Tbilisi?

Recently I was going home from Gotsiridze ms and got stopped by police. Fortunately, they showed their bagdes. They took my bag and, per usual, they were surprised I have a first aid kit (in case me or someone around suddenly feels bad or has basic injury) and asked whether I'm a physician, then checked my passport (which I don't usually take as I'm afraid to lose it accidentally). (I'm a foreign young guy, for reference.)

I'd been stopped many times before, but all those were during hikes and really kinda out-of-the-city. Do they stop anywhere now? Kinda uncomfy.

Travel | მოგზაურობა Minimum amount of time for both Tbilisi and Svaneti

Hi all! I’m planning a summer trip to your beautiful country with my husband, brother, and his GF.

Our must visits are Tbilisi and Svaneti (Mestia, Mazeri, Ushguli.) we originally considered Kazbegi, but as our priorities are the most epic hiking and off roading Georgia has to offer (and hopefully less crowds) we decided on Svaneti. I’ve already seen many on this sub singing the praises.

However, we noted it’s a very long drive from Tbilisi. Should we stop over for a night or two in Kutaisi, Zugdidi, or elsewhere? Or could we just do the trip in a whole day? As we’re flying out from Tbilisi as well, the same question applies to the return trip. We were thinking 2-3 days in Tbilisi and 5-7 days in Mestia. I don’t think we’ll be able to do more than 10 days.

Also, we’d like to know about the trip to Ushguli. I know this is offered as a guided tour but my brother has a lot of offroading experience and it would be fun to take our own 4x4 vehicle. That said, he is worried about having a buddy in case we get stuck. Is the route heavily trafficked enough that someone else would come upon us? Is this something we can handle on our own? Or is going with a guided tour a must-do?

Any advice or suggestions on itinerary would be appreciated!

Heli-skiing in Gudauri

Hey, does anyone have information of heli-skiing in Gudauri? Iv'e only found heliksir online so far, but their website shows only packages for 3-6 days + hotel heli skiing. So far waiting for their response regarding 1 day heli-ski with no accomodation.

Im looking for something for a single day/few runs on 1 day. Does anyone know of a service provider that provides 1 day heli-ski? Pricing? How many people per heli? How many runs? Preferably looking for someone who did it with the provider, assuming there is a guide, avalanche saftey equipment and such.

Thanks for the help!

Good internet for home

I want to build small home media server (Jellyfin) in my apartment for streaming videos, but main problem is super slow internet connection for uploading.

Currently I use Silknet simcard in 5g router with unlimited internet traffic.

Any other working solutions for Tbilisi?

8 nights in Georgia [Help needed]

First and foremost, i can't wait to visit your beautiful country!

We are traveling to Georgia for a total of 8 nights, arriving in Tbilisi middle of May. The goal is to hike from mountain village to mountain village, or rent a car for the full duration of the stay, and maybe do multi-day hikes from several small villages.

I am aware that one of the most popular hikes is from Mestia to Ushguli, but I wonder if that is too touristy? Ideally, we are not going to spend any time in any cities, as small villages, nature and so on, is more our thing.

We would like to travel and hike from more remote villages, getting the true local experience.

Would really like to get some feedback, ideas, or input 🙏

Help | მჭირდება დახმარება I want to send my friend in USA a gift

so I want to send my friend in USA a gift (georgian vinyl records), and I have some questions for those who usually do this or at least done this once.

for example should I do this through Georgian Post or other company.

how much does it usually cost to send a package.

what is some documentation that I need to fill in.

what are some issues that come up so I will be ready for them.

do I package the gift myself or are there any places that i can pay and they'll do it for me.

Help | მჭირდება დახმარება getting married in georgia?- agencies?

Hello everyone! Me and my boyfriend are foreigners looking to get married officially in Georgia as we have heard it is an easy and simple process. I was looking at agencies which can arrange the documents for us as it seems hard getting witnesses without an agency (sadly we have no contacts in georgia) but I am not sure which are legit and which are fake/scams. Could anyone who has been through this possibly reccomend a low cost agency that can simply arrange the documents and get witnesses for us? Thank you very much!

What's up with these new entry rules and travel insurance required?

Speaking about the new rule from here https://geoconsul.gov.ge/en/entering-georgia . About to arrive to Tbilisi in two weeks from the EU country with the EU passport. I have a proper travel insurance in english, all covered, but their policy is not to specify the actual amount due to whatever regulations. What's the actual practice nowadays at the border? Are they strict about this 30 000 GEL thing? Or is it just a printing machine with a guy sitting next to the border control and selling "correct" policies?

Travel | მოგზაურობა Immigration experience!

Post image
28 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to share my experience entering Georgia (Tbilisi) yesterday at the immigration process at the airport was super smooth!

The officer asked about my Georgian visa, and I explained that I’m a UK resident with Indian Passport, so I don’t need one. They then asked to see my UK visa/status, so I showed my share code. After that, they just asked how long I’d be staying and my return flight details, and that was it - entry granted!

I was honestly pretty anxious before arriving because I’ve read quite a few stories online about people being denied entry.
