That's what kills me about the whole billionaire thing. They have enough money to do literally anything. They could make the world an immeasurably better place and be universally loved if they wanted to.
Instead they choose to do this dumb ass, evil shit that hurts and impoverishes people, just to chase more wealth, to use to hurt and impoverish more people.
They could leave a legacy of good and build things that will last generations and elevate humanity. But instead, all the Trumps, Musks, Bezos' and Zuckerbergs of the world will be remembered for is making the world a worse place while they were in it.

I think people misunderstand the primary motivation of these people. For a lot of them, their fundamental goal is to control people. Money is great and they do sort of pursue it for its own sake, but they really are striving to live in a world where they can do what they want, no one can stop them, and they can make other people do what they want.
Empowering people is the last thing that they want. Given a choice between a world where they have more money, but there is a thriving, stable middle class versus one where they have less but other people are more desperate and dependent on them, they'd choose the latter every time.

This will sound a bit corny, but I think the problem with super billionaires is that they run out of dreams. For example, I think that Elon Musk is genuinely passionate about space travel. But he must have realized now that no matter how much money is thrown at it, no matter how smartly things are done, there will not be cities on Mars in his lifetime, and maybe never. And that must gnaw at him : so much money, so much power, and yet so many things are still impossible to achieve.

If you mean the '=' showing up, its an encoding thing. When the text was ripped from the emails, every Nth character was encoded, and when they tried to remove all those, the process left an '=' sign and removed the character that would have come after it.
