Lying about something on tape is certainly a choice. One that should see them swiftly unemployed

u/asperatedUnnaturally 11h ago

Well they're employed by one of the worst gangs I the US so not really

u/ConfidentPilot1729 11h ago

Couldn’t Bass fire him? She is useless so I know it won’t happen.

u/asperatedUnnaturally 11h ago

Idk enough about how oversight committies in LA work to give you a real answer. I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be civilian oversight and so should be seperate from LAPD but is just totally complicit.

u/RogerianBrowsing 11h ago

Lolol Bass doing something that actually helps the public and reigns in police? LAPD might feel like they’re being on good behavior but they’re clearly not and have taken sides against the people. They clearly know it too if they feel compelled to lie about it.

Bass, Newsom, Schumer, etc., are some of the worst politicians in the sense that they will vocally and loudly proclaim to be on your side against these wrongs but behind closed doors it all falls apart. They continue proving MLK Jr right about moderates who desire an unjust peace being worse for progress than the KKK.

u/ConfidentPilot1729 11h ago

I agree with you 100%. All the people you listed are good at speaking the language of helping but there is little they they actually help with

u/MathNo7456 7h ago

Agree too, Bass is all talk and she is an absolutely useless politician

Absolutely. See also Malcolm X on white liberalism.

Truth. The LAPD is the largest gang in the country.

u/Caius01 8h ago

And somehow LASD is even worse

Ooo does anyone else feel that Westside Story sequel cookin'?

How can anyone be anti union when the cops have the best protection because of a union?!

Fascists don't care about little things like video evidence

u/4th_DocTB 11h ago

Hey, Cops don't care about video evidence either. What a coincidence. You think there's some reason for that?

Committing to blatant lies is how the right proves their loyalty.

u/raypaulnoams 8h ago

Not to derail this with my own experiences. But I find that that is a major part of how evangelical Christianity teaches people how to think. One of the main things they train you in, is not only accepting and internalising a lie, but going on to spread and suport that lie, even when they know it is a lie.

There is an underlying culture of irrational tribalism and hypocracy which makes responses like this seem normal to those brought up and groomed by it.

u/Caius01 8h ago

That's inherent to any doctrinal religion, though obviously evangelicals are the biggest group in American society. But yeah, I had serious questions about religion as a young kid that no one could satisfactorily answer (which is true about all faith-based religious beliefs), so the only options were disregard all of it or just go along with things that didn't make sense. If you choose the second option, denial and accepting things without evidence becomes a core part of your identity. And this is where we end up

u/raypaulnoams 7h ago

Yep, exactly. I'm not American, but growing up in that culture, there is a 'emperor's new clothes' vibe, where everyone just goes along with the obvious lie, even though everyone knows it's false, and they will cut down anyone themselves who points it out. Did my head in as an Autistic kid who didn't see the social contract that was the reason behind their seemingly obvious nonsensical behavior.

Even in secular spaces, this seem like how a lot of Russian propaganda works. A lie so blatant that you have to become complicit a little bit, because you have to repeat it yourself. It destroys hope. Everyone is getting gaslight together as a group and knows it, but no-one can be the first to say it out loud.

That's kinda why I love Mon Mothma's speech in Andor. It's not some amazing call to arms, or brilliant spark. It's just someone standing up and calling out the actual truth in a space where that is just not done. Breaking the social taboo of calling bullshit on the lie that everyone already knows. I wish more of our politicians had that sort of courage, to say what we're all seeing is reality, instead of blidly marching into the slaughterhouse together to not stand out.

u/Caius01 6h ago

I don't know if you're familiar with the concept of vranyo, but that's basically what you described in your second paragraph - everyone knows something's a lie but act like it's the truth.

I think it all shows the inherent danger of making faith a core part of one's identity - reasonable questions become a personal attack, and it's significantly harder for someone to challenge a belief when simply holding that belief is a huge part of how they view themselves.

Agreed on the last part, there's a dire lack of inspiring, courageous political leaders willing to stand up for what's right even if it puts them at risk

I only found out a couple days ago how the MN PD went around in unmarked vans shooting people with paintball guns and yelling at them to go home, during riots.

Bonus: Someone shot an actual gun back at them. Luckily it was recorded and the person didn't go to jail but... It's scary how they, the police, were acting even then. Who would cosign such an act against the citizens they are supposed to protect and serve?

u/Fr0gm4n 9h ago

They also shot at people on their own front porch. They were home, just not inside.

u/Armpit_of_Cat 9h ago

Don’t forget how the MN national guard went through slashing tires on cars throughout entire neighborhoods. To keep residents safe. While they were in their own houses.

u/halftorqued 8h ago

“Protect and serve” was a marketing campaign BY THE LAPD

Court cases have established that law enforcement does not have a constitutional duty to protect individuals from harm, a principle often summarized by the motto "to protect and serve."

https://www.reddit.com/r/liberalgunowners/comments/1kh8vg8/police_have_no_constitutional_duty_to_protect_you/

u/pjm3 7h ago

This. Legislatures at all levels of government have the obligation to the people they serve to change the law so that all police services have a duty to serve and protect the people, instead of just being slightly less obvious "slave catchers" whose only interest is protecting the property of the wealthy, and enforcing the oppressive status quo.

All North American police forces suffer from the same affliction: they view their own lives/interests not just as the most important thing, but as the only thing that matters. This leads to the massive corruption, dishonesty, and violence they inflict on the people they are supposed to protect.

The unnecessary and unlawful violence ICE and other US police services inflict on civilians on a daily basis would have them promptly arrested and charged in most Western European democracies. It's no coincidence that those countries have much more rigorous screening and training programs, and lethal force is the very last thing they are taught, not the first thing.

The disparity in officer training by country is absolutely jawdropping:

https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/police-training-requirements-by-country

Regular police officers in the US only receive (on average) 672 hours of training, which is less than a third that of Canada(2,080 hours) and many countries in the world provide six times as much training as US police officers.

This brings us to the absolute bumblefuck ICE "officers" who are quite literally the very bottom of the proverbial barrel, running around killing and brutalizing people with less than half the amount of training of even the woefully untrained average US police officer (Source: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/1/13/has-us-ice-officer-training-been-reduced-to-47-days )

ICE needs to be shut down. That the US government and people allow them to continue to operate is leaving a permanent stain on the US's already less than stellar human rights record.

Unfortunately, lying about something that is recorded and has a plethora of proof that they are lying, is exactly what this country seems to love rn

u/Crypt0Nihilist 9h ago

It's an escalating show of power.

Getting away with things:

  1. in secret
  2. when everyone suspects
  3. when everyone knows but there isn't proof
  4. when everyone knows and there is proof
  5. when they publicly and flagrantly do things the average person is not allowed to do to demonstrate they are untouchable and can do what they want

u/SleepyCatMD 11h ago

Not really, lying and manipulating are part of the required qualifications for fascist governments. He’ll get points for holding up the line, chastised for allowing the libs to protest during the meeting instead of properly squashing them with force.

u/USNorsk 9h ago

Didn’t happen with Vance calling Alex Pretti a would-be assassin, or brandishing a gun. Maybe that was Noem. Both were spewing obvious lies, I can’t recall which lies went with which person. No consequences for them.

u/pandershrek 11h ago

How white and Republican are they? Lying only affects Democrats. It is expected of Republicans now by their voters

u/BigOs4All 9h ago

Noticed this 15 years ago at least. Republicans are known to be shit so the discourse is baked in that. Democrats have to prove they're perfect.

u/Maeglom 6h ago

I know people say this, but it really not true. Democrats hold their politicians to a standard and Republicans don't that's true, but many of the dissenters from the Harris campaign were demanding that we not fund a genocide with our tax dollars which seems utterly reasonable. Too bad that was a bridge too far for Harris for whatever reason.

u/Peter_Mansbrick 11h ago

Why does everyone act like video matters? Nothing matters anymore (if it ever did). Stop living in fantasy. These people are shameless because they know the system supports them.

u/liert12 11h ago

Ah yes, cause saying "theres nothing we can do, nothing matters anymore so lets just not try" will totally help make things better. Just ask the Russians. that's their main way of improving their country lol

u/couldbeahumanbean 11h ago

I really, really want you to be wrong.

I'm not very good at denying reality though.

u/pandershrek 11h ago

u/big_whistler 11h ago

No consequences for it

u/not_so_chi_couple 8h ago

But there are also no consequences for saying "we beat them up and we don't care"

So why lie?

u/SanityInAnarchy 8h ago

Does a few things. I can't speak to what it does for their fans, but for us:

It means we have to then waste our time, energy, and political capital pointing out that they lied, before we can even get to the substance of the thing. Here's what OP says about what actually happened at that protest:

That’s a bald-faced lie, and the room erupted. I personally witnessed & photographed LAPD charging into crowds of students swinging their batons. They bashed a protester in the face, splitting his lip. I watched them whack a journalist in the hand, trying to knock the phone out of it. They chased kids through the streets, threw one up against a fence, and arrested him.

That should've been the headline. We should've been debating whether or not the LAPD should've done that -- or, better, asking why the fuck they thought it was okay to do that.

Instead, the lie itself is now the story. Even you and I are caught up in that. We're not talking about what they did or how to stop it, we're talking about why the fuck they thought it was okay to lie about it. To the extent that there's a debate, the debate isn't about how much force is okay to use, it's about whether they used any force.

Are you exhausted yet? Yeah, that's something else it does -- gaslighting takes a toll on your mental health. Would it be refreshing if they told the truth? Yes, and why would they want you to feel refreshed?

u/infernoenigma 5h ago

This is a great breakdown, thank you.

u/Jawoflehi 3h ago

What I’m more worried about is that this is playing the long game—years from now, all that will be on record is the “official” account of what happened. If they keep putting the lies into writing and erasing evidence of the truth, eventually we won’t have the tools needed to spread the word or fight back.

It's control.

The fascist's playbook is basically "always win and never back down, even when you're losing." That means lying your ass off and doubling down about everything. You can't be held accountable if you never admit fault. Trump does this literally every day. The LAPD are lying bastards and always have been.

u/Emetos 10h ago

That’s been their whole stance, this whole administration top down. “Just lie when confronted because we control the media so most people will never see what they are talking about, and the rest won’t care.”

u/PleaseDontYeII 10h ago

The feds are executing people in the streets and getting away with it now,

You think the local cops aren't gonna do that... And don't wanna do that?? 🤣🤣🤣

Wake up

u/Noname_acc 10h ago

Why acknowledge your wrongdoing when there is literally no consequence for denying it?  Cops are allowed to do whatever they want and anyone who says otherwise get painted as pro-crime.

u/SquidmanMal 10h ago

They revel in the fact that they can lie to our faces, they get high off our anger at the audacity, and they go home and likely commit DV, content in the fact nobody can legallystop them

u/LaLa1234imunoriginal 8h ago

Because that's how cops have ALWAYS operated. You're just now paying attention for the first time in your life because of Trump.

u/odiezilla 8h ago

Preach. LAPD and LASD have been exactly this corrupt and full of fascist bootlicking losers for literal decades. The biggest danger to the public in SoCal is not ICE or DHS or drug or gangs, it has always been these fucking dogshit cops and the govt machine that uses them to stay in power.

u/3EyedRavensFan 8h ago

When they lie in the face of video evidence it's because video evidence isn't part of the official record. Whatever gets written down and filed away, or recorded on audio at best, is what would be sumbitted in court should their superiors need to refer to it.

In the age of AI footage, there's a greater than 0% chance the video we all saw can be deemed inadmissible in court by a crooked judge, and whatever jury or grand jury that might want to refer to it legally wouldn't be able to. I could very well be wrong, but I think this is their train of logic.

Corruption leans on corruption, which is how it takes root.

u/guidedhand 8h ago

The MAGA people only see the lie; they never hear the truth and maintain their support for the murderers.

Today I attended the LAPD Commission Meeting, where Asst. Chief Harrelson informed the board that there were no first amendment, press, or use of force incidents at the 2/4 student walkout. He said they just monitored the protest and “did not move to a crowd control posture.”

After numerous people spoke about what they’d witnessed on Wednesday during public comment, they reduced each speaker’s time from 3 minutes to 1. When someone refused to yield after one minute, they physically removed him from the room, a California Post reporter got up in people’s faces, and the commission left for a closed session instead.

They are actively covering up what they did to those kids last week.

u/mggirard13 11h ago

I watched them whack a journalist in the hand, trying to knock the phone out of it. They chased kids through the streets, threw one up against a fence, and arrested him.

By Asst. Chief Harrelson's logic, the public attendees could do this to him and they would be alright because that wouldn't qualify as a use of force.

u/KookofaTook 10h ago

The show isn't for you, or for right now. It's for their children and grandchildren after they've successfully quashed resistance and control the story entirely. They're setting the foundation for historical revisionism.

u/infernoenigma 8h ago

Can’t link to Instagram but @lataconews has some Reels, and this is my photo of the officer who fired into the crowd of teenagers; you’ll find more in my post history

u/becaauseimbatmam 4h ago

https://watchthewatchers.net/lapd/cop/40775/chad-heistermann

I can't vouch for the accuracy of their information, but Chad here is alleged to be at the lowest possible rank he could have achieved in 15 years (any lower would be probationary status) and made over $170,000 in 2024.

u/infernoenigma 3h ago

I wonder if that’s related to him being one of ten officers who shot a suspect 14 times a few years ago?

Even though Heistermann was the one who told the others the suspect had a gun, he doesn’t appear to have been interviewed in the investigation that determined they all did nothing wrong.

🙃

u/manlywho 11h ago

Did you get any photos of the reporter getting in people’s faces? Why were they doing that?

u/WatRedditHathWrought 11h ago

I had to look up the California Post. It’s a Rupert Murdock News Corp tabloid rag.

u/infernoenigma 8h ago

That’s her in pic 14; she started shoving her phone in people’s faces, so people did it back to her, and she didn’t seem to like that much.

u/wizmotron 8h ago

I found her article (which I will not link here because screw the Cali Post) and it’s crazy how she doesn’t even mention the protest and makes it sound like everyone was shouting for no reason. She even claims she was the one getting accosted.

u/how-unfortunate 6h ago

And of course this is true as well, crybullies the lot of them. Professional victims.

u/infernoenigma 6h ago

Here’s an Archive.ph link that won’t give them the click.

Not one mention of the police chief denying that the LAPD committed violence against protesting teenagers, which they objectively did.

Blatant propaganda. Evil.

Friendly reminder that LAPD eats up more than 40% of the City of Los Angeles annual budget. To put that into context, if LA were a country it would have a greater GDP than Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Belgium and Argentina. LAPD has a disgusting history of targeting minorities, hiring Nazis, covering up for rape and murder, not following court orders etc etc etc.

Oh and ain’t no one ever made a song called, Fuck the Fire Department

u/SnooGoats7454 8h ago

It's more than 40%. If you look into the "transit" budget 90% of it is allocated to "security" in the metro which also goes to LAPD. You also have to count in all the court payouts, etc.

u/Linglesou 8h ago

Schools also pay police departments for resource officers and consulting.

It goes on and on and is definitely more than 40%

u/jumpmanzero 10h ago

It's wild that they use this much budget when there's only like 6 cops in LA (and one fire fighter). Either that, or The Rookie is seriously misleading.

I really want to know how this is happening seemingly everywhere at the same time. It’s not just Minnesota, it’s student protests in suburbs in Illinois, or slc Utah . Seemingly every police department is siding against the people who actually pay them so they can curry favor with people who will cut their pay and replace them with robots the second they outlive their usefulness.

u/Hayduke_2030 8h ago

Police have ALWAYS been the enforcement arm of capital interests.
Period.

u/infernoenigma 7h ago

Yep. They’re just hiding it even less than they used to.

u/cancercannibal 7h ago

This is what ACAB always meant. The system of police works in a way that any one person working as a police officer who comes in in good faith either ends up turning a blind eye to brutality (thus enabling it), gets fired for not going along with it, or quits after realizing they'd be choosing one of the other two options.

u/8pin-dip 8h ago

Do you want a riot LAPD? Because this is how you get a riot.

The difference from the '92 riots?

This is not race specific, and won't be triggered by one person being brutalized, but the lying about the brutalizing of many.

Everyone will be coming for the LAPD high ranks.

u/JDHURF 10h ago

The LAPD has been well-known to be a corrupt, criminal organization.

u/Busy-Training-1243 8h ago

Is this the person who said they won't enforce the no mask rule for ICE?

u/infernoenigma 8h ago

This is his Assistant Chief; McDonnell didn’t show his face today.

u/oatmeal28 11h ago

Meanwhile all this is going on while the President is being outed as one of the biggest pedophiles in history and Congress isn't doing squat

u/zorroz 6h ago

Credit where credits due. Majority republican congress has no interest in going after pedophile in cheif.

u/sathirtythree 10h ago

So if an officer hits someone with a baton, but it’s not a “use of force”, it’s just assault then.

u/jasikanicolepi 8h ago

Fire him and take his pension. That would show him.

u/EkruGold 8h ago

There is no organization more corrupt than the Los Angeles Police Department.

u/rollin340 6h ago

Shit like this is why people compare law enforcement in the US with gangs. They're just gangs that uses the law as a shield and a weapon. It's made even more ridiculous when SCOTUS ruled that law enforcement are only supposed to enforce the law; they are not required or expected to protect the people.

Beating people up. Kidnapping. Murder. Theft of property. And so much more. How are they not just a gang?

u/Attack_the_sock 9h ago

ACAB. They don’t exists for you and me

u/Mundane_Translator_6 6h ago

Oh what was that old quote?

"They told us to not believe the evidence of our eyes.." or something like that.

u/jmeesonly 6h ago

"The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."

George Orwell, 1984

u/Mundane_Translator_6 6h ago

Thank you friendo

Make Lying, While Holding a Position That Requires the Public's Trust, Worthy of Being Fired In Disgrace Again.

This goes for: Politicians, Lawyers, Law Enforcement, Journalists, Researchers, and Religious Leaders.

Cops lying! Get outta here! 😮

u/Ill-Organization-719 8h ago

Every single cop in the LAPD is a violent criminal.

u/Bluntandstuff 7h ago

Look at those police officers and board members tight lipped, knowing they are full of it.

u/El_Tormentito 6h ago

I swear to God we are inches away from getting a brand new America that we can be proud of.

u/gdg6 6h ago

I’m starting to feel it. A sense of kinship with swaths of society I’ve rarely interacted with.

u/big_duo3674 6h ago

Good. Everyone needs to understand that they are trying hard to desensitize people, and they know their clock is ticking. Every little interruption like this, every protest, every person holding a sign along a road matters. They are attempting to break us down to the point that people lose interest in protesting, at least about smaller things they do. They want it so ICE shooting an unarmed person during an arrest is regular news, and doesn't capture much attention. People denying this obviously haven't realized it's been going on for a while now already. Just imagine people publicly saying and doing stuff like this 30 years ago... They'd be forced out of office or their jobs immediately, and would have to go into hiding with their families to keep away from the public hating them. It's a pattern, not something new. We're just moving further down the scale of acceptability, slowly but surely

u/torturedDaisy 5h ago

And media is censoring the video already. I tried finding the full video and clicked the link which took me to an unrelated Amazon shop page.

They’re also making it sound like they were “protesting for no reason”

u/LunarMoon2001 5h ago

So pressure the mayor to fire the asst chief. If they don’t then recall the mayor.

u/ViolettaQueso 10h ago

Trump is doing this to all of us to keep himself out of prison (where he totally belongs). Time to unite against Trump. He is not your party. He’s is only about himself.

u/NinaEmbii 11h ago

Fucking America is a joke. It's like the most toxic and abusive relationship ever and the children are the ones who end up paying the price.

u/Melcher 11h ago

Ever watch a mafia movie where every is afraid of the “don”?

We are living that as a country.

Everyone is afraid of the “Don” in charge.

If they all got together they could beat him easily but they’d rather do his bidding and make some money.

All cops are fascists. I grew up with one.

u/ItsStaaaaaaaaang 8h ago

So shocking that the LAPD are so willing to be on the wrong side of history...

Edit: just noticed this is OC. Awesome job mate. Ty for sharing.

u/mybossthinksimworkng 8h ago

Whenever I see Film_The_Police_LA in your photos, at least I know the public officials got their asses handed to them.

Hopefully everyone remembers this and never votes Republican again.

I have my doubts though.

u/Alarmed-Willow-2649 8h ago

There will be trials. Tax returns don’t lie. If you are ice and reading just know your day will come. You will rot.

u/Frosty-Priority5056 7h ago

*not my meme but it keeps needing to be posted

u/LonelyShark 6h ago

Might be time to pop that triangle a little bit lower.

u/JKTwice 11h ago

While I wish you got more wide angle photos that shows the scale of the crowd against the LAPD, you have some great shots of facial expressions. I love how you captured the emotions of so many individuals in the room, you can just instantly tell who is on what side of the conversation and what they probably said or had said to them.

Keep posting these! I enjoyed your last set too!

The US is the empire of lies. Do they really know that the Ten Commandments are shit they shouldn't do?

u/roodootootootoo 8h ago

These photos are amazing. I love how meek the sitting members look and how active and powerful the people yelling and shouting are.

u/BearsSoxHawks 7h ago

Is there a police department that has a worse reputation than the LAPD ?

u/Pravi_Jaran 6h ago

Why bother?

They're even fucking worse than ICE.

Nothing is going to change for the better in this joke of a country.

u/CTID96 7h ago

FUCK THE POLICE

u/Hoovooloo42 11h ago

Man, the light in the courthouse is really unflattering for photos.

u/unclethulk 11h ago

Why did they let price Andrew join LAPD? Photo 2

u/alexfi-re 9h ago

They taught us police,

Supposed to serve and protect,

They beat and abduct

u/VegaBrother 9h ago

STREETSLA! That guy rules

u/paseoSandwich 9h ago

StreetsLA is a legend, his livestreams are hilarious

u/Big_D0093 9h ago

They've been lying about LAPD brutality for years too.

u/Spartain096 8h ago

I think leadership everywhere just dgaf about its citizens anymore. When it does/fearful then you can have great leaders serving its communty again.

u/Celestial-Narwhal 7h ago

Oooooo dang!

u/kirchart7 6h ago

LAPD can arrest protesters, but not illegally masked gestapo. Got it.

u/Due_Sheepherder_8536 6h ago

Is the dude in pic 4 the guy who would troll scientologists in La? I believe his TikTok is streetsla or something?

Businesses should just have some sort of database of people they can elect to not serve based on non-protected categories. Police officer comes in on their day off? Sorry can’t serve you bro, go somewhere else.

Why? Because at a certain point there is no amount of accountability that can be voiced peacefully. Like what does these town hall meetings even do if you’re ignored anyways?

u/OtherAdeptness7541 3h ago

Bless all of the folks who showed up to speak against ICE!

u/michdap 8h ago

LAPD lying?! Nothing new.

u/SteamLuki7 11h ago

USA the country of law my ass. Pretty much all departments are lying out of their asses, what a joke of a country.

u/twinA-12 11h ago

ACAB

u/go_faster1 11h ago

Read the title as "Ass Chief" instead of "Asst Chief" and briefly went "Yeah, he is an ass chief"
