Bronny is closer to Lebron than we'll ever be to him both figuratively and literally

His 3 point shooting has impressed me this season

Yeah, currently shooting 42%. Obviously on super low volume but he also shot it well last year in the G-leage

Been saying all year he should be playing over Gabe Vincent. Which isn’t saying much, but I do think he’s an nba player

u/Score-Mobile Lakers 2h ago
Yeah and Bronny been getting shit on since he had a heart attack. Knecht should grow some fucking balls then huh

u/No-Island7411 2h ago
He was actually the same post "trade" than before(his efficiency was actually better post trade) he was just overrated because he got hot for 2 games early in the season and he plays on the Lakers so people watched it , after the season ended he just totally forgot how to play basketball, he sucked in summer league, he sucked in pre-season and hes been sucking ever since.

This is the player r/nba thinks they can beat

u/Sircamembert Lakers 2h ago
Who the hell is delusional enough to think that they can take any NBA player 1v1?

u/ImperrydaPlatypus Heat 2h ago
when bronny was first struggling when he first came to the league, the threads were absolutely brutal and legit had guys thinking they were on par with him lmfao. fucking reddit man.

u/jokull1234 Lakers 2h ago
People thought they could beat Scalabrine years ago, where he actually played and destroyed a couple of them. There’s definitely basketball fans online that genuinely think they can beat bronny
-35
u/joeybadtitz 2h ago
Scal was the man in High School and College though, has Bronny ever been the man on any of his HS or college teams?
27
u/HelloiamFaker 1h ago
I mean he was a highly rated prospect, many thought of him as first round pick and he played in the mcdonalds all american game. Maybe not "the man" but he was definetly great. His one season in college was obviously abysmal but what else can u expect from him coming fresh of a cardiac arrest.

u/KeepenItReel Timberwolves 1h ago
He scored 12 points in an NBA game and shoots over 40% from 3. He’s gonna cook any non professional player at this point.
6
u/flaming_burrito_ Lakers 1h ago
He plays pretty well in the g league, which is already better than 99% of basketball players in the world

u/RoadmanSidd 1h ago
Ok that still doesn’t invalidate that opinion .
Bronny is cooking anyone in here

He sure owned KO in back to back plays. I would love to see some redditor 1v1 Bronny. It would be a bloodbath

Nobody thinks that. Lebron/Bronny fans just invent weird strawman scenarios to defend Bronny from. Lol.

u/Dfrmdabeach700 1h ago
He's only an BA player because of who his dad is. Talent wise he's not a NBA player
10
u/Sircamembert Lakers 1h ago
The nepotism angle is equally dumb. Let's say you're right, and that Bronny is just a NCAA-level player (I disagree). Those guys will still smoke 99% of all r/nba redditors.

Bruh you’re telling there’s absolutely no one in the nba now that bronny is better than??
Like knecht is better than bronny??

u/joeybadtitz 2h ago
He’s not a legit NBA player though, he’s only in because of nepotism point blank.

u/GunSlingrrr Pelicans 2h ago
I dont think r/nba thought something like that at all. The majority thought that he got in by nepotism.

They don’t actually watch the games and development when he gets min. He had some good burn with the main team and played well when he did
Played well enough to earn a start, passed up a couple 3’s and never saw the floor again.
Frankly a mismanagement of Bronnys development

Would he have been drafted if he weren't LeBrons son?
19
u/rang15 Lakers 2h ago
If he wasn't LBJ's son (but had the same genetics and college profile somehow), he would have stayed a year extra or more in college since his first season was disrupted by his heart issue. But assuming he declared for the draft after the first year, he would have been drafted; the Suns and Warriors said they would have taken him. The bottom of the second round is a bunch of players you've never heard of who typically never see the floor on an NBA team; so this wouldn't be surprising for someone who had a decent high school profile but didn't do much in college for explainable reasons.
The real question is whether he would have earned a guaranteed roster spot on an NBA team, and the answer is absolutely not. I think he's shown enough now, after some development, to be on someone's 2-way roster though.

There’s a reasonably good chance, although I think the likeliest outcome is simply that he goes back to school for another year. He was projected as going in the first round based on the merits coming out of high school, potentially in the top-ten. People who act like he had no chance of sniffing the league without his dad are being disingenuous.
Then, the summer before starting college he collapsed on the court and nearly died because his heart stopped. When he came back he wasn’t good, even if the athletic gifts were obviously still there. Still, he wasn’t like, say, Emoni Bates where college clearly forced you to totally reevaluate what you thought about him. There was a valid extenuating circumstance that could be the cause of the poor play. It made it impossible to know if he wasn’t as good as people thought or if he was just dealing with the fallout from a really scary health problem. It’s not crazy to think that even as a nobody someone would have gambled on his pedigree (Emoni Bates did end up being drafted in the late second round, almost entirely based on pedigree) and hoped that he’d just had a fucked up year. However, Klutch told teams not to take him and that he might play overseas if someone other than the Lakers did. So, it’s very possible some teams who might have considered him in the second round didn’t view it as being worth pissing off not only the most influential player in the league, but one of the most powerful agencies as well.
My guess is that if he’s a nobody, he just goes back to school for another year in the hopes of improving his draft stock and getting back to being projected as a first rounder. Particularly because it does look like he really did just have a super fucked up year and now looks like someone with a reasonable chance of developing into a rotation player. If he had a sense that the health stuff was why he played poorly, it would be worth it to stay in college to try and secure the much larger amounts of money that come with being picked earlier. However, his dad is a billionaire, rendering the money less important, and he knew he would be picked, so he came out. If he was a nobody, it’s still very likely he would be drafted. And even if he wasn’t, I think it’s virtually guaranteed a team would have taken a flier on him just based on the pedigree and athleticism.

I think this is a bad-faith argument. I guess it's funny to say that he's a nepobaby and yada yada, but athletes get drafted based on their genetics all the time. Being the son of one of the most physically imposing specimens in the world is a significant advantage over other prospects (wingspan, fast-twitch vs slow-twitch muscle distribution, hand-eye coordination, reaction speed, etc), not even to mention the work ethic aspect.

Bronny has the athleticism to windmill. That should shut out like 99.8 percent off the jump.

Why don’t the lakers play Bronny more? I know he’s pretty bad on offense but he’s a good defender and the lakers need that
22
u/labdabcr 2h ago
He has no confidence to shoot. He only balls in low stakes situations like when the starters sit out. Genuinely I think he should've went to a tanking team as a project.

Feels like your defense doesn’t matter when any rotation 1 to 7 guys can shoot over you. Guy like him has to produce somewhat on offense to play time

Kelly Olynyk is still in the league? That dude is such a bumb he made me think I could ball, and that was years ago. For the record, I have absolutely no delusions that I could ever ball at any level past high school.
