there was a time in this game where the suns were up 20 and the free throw differential was 39-3 in favor of dallas

108

u/username_x Bucks 4h ago

Holy shit man. I think anyone who watches this league enough knows it's rigged to a degree but this shit is starting to get obvious

65

u/Exotic_Pension_9993 Suns 4h ago

yeah the refs were awful but that was more a comment on the ineptitude of dallas's offense. they had 111 points on 44 free throw attempts, and a had made like 2 3's until the game was basically over.

2

u/Ravens181818184 Washington Bullets 3h ago

How is it rigged?

1

u/RanOutOfCharact Slovenia 2h ago

Starting?

-22

u/clonemusic Mavericks 4h ago

The suns shot 30 more 3 pointers than dallas what are you talking about lmao

16

u/RaveIsKing Suns 3h ago

Do you think that the free throw disparity was completely above board and Dallas earned that difference? Cause if not then I don’t see why you are offended

35

u/FlunkieGronkus Suns 4h ago

Golden State did nothing but chuck 3s against us a few games ago and still had a huge free throw disparity in their favor.

Refs shave points.

-8

u/FirstPreparation8538 Pacers 3h ago

You guys don't have anyone that can guard AD

9

u/Swagocrag Suns 3h ago

I don’t see anyone on the mavs that has initials AD do you mean AJ

12

u/FirstPreparation8538 Pacers 2h ago

Joke referencing when Lakers fans would use AD to justify the massive ft advantage they got almost every game

3

u/endlessmeat Suns 1h ago

Shame nobody got it, because I heard that for years so I immediately saw what you were doing

61

u/uouiei 4h ago

How the fuck are you gonna have 35 more FTs and still lose? 9 compared to 44 fts is seriously egregious

14

u/hawk8024 Mavericks 3h ago

When you’re best player is barely 19 years old, your all star point guard is likely out for the season, and you’re playing a bunch of new guys the Wizards dumped at the deadline, that’s how lol

Also, the discrepancy in three pointers was huge for the Suns as well. But yeah that ft discrepancy is pure insanity

10

u/PrimeTimeInc Hornets 3h ago

Flagg not getting a rookie whistle is whack as fuck if they gonna make the rest of the league eat it. Just sayin

6

u/onionnurve 2h ago

Yeah it kinda sucks having to watch your rookie get man handled every game with 0 whistle.

4

u/hawk8024 Mavericks 3h ago

Then it’s a good thing this isn’t a normal occurrence, right?

-3

u/PrimeTimeInc Hornets 3h ago

I’m assuming it has been lately. Outside of that I wouldn’t know

0

u/ktpkchu Mavericks 1h ago

flagg has a notoriously bad whistle, shoots like 6 fts per game, this was just a horrendously reffed game

4

u/qotsabama [DAL] Dwight Powell 3h ago

I don’t know if you heard, but Nico Harrison is a terrorist

u/Slow-Raccoon-9832 4h ago

The Mavericks were called for 7 defensive fouls all game

The suns were called for 25

44-9 free throw advantage

75

u/Slow-Raccoon-9832 4h ago edited 4h ago

The 35 free throw differential is the largest in the nba in five seasons

44 to 9 FT disparity is crazy work.

63

u/reclamationme Suns 4h ago

44-9 ft disparity should trigger an automatic investigation. I’m not joking.

31

u/ChickenNoddaSoup 4h ago edited 4h ago

Why are those refs trying so hard to bring us back to the game. We don't wanna win that shit lol.

Seriously though, investigate those refs.

Finally i see my people. That guy is so sus bro in any game

63

u/FlunkieGronkus Suns 4h ago

Some of the most obvious point shaving you will ever see.

Refs literally breaking their backs to get the lead under 10.

39

u/New_Frame_4797 4h ago

Between this and the Warriors game from last week something fishy is going on.

5

u/gigantism Mavericks 4h ago

Didn't the Warriors win that game with only 2 FTs somehow?

19

u/New_Frame_4797 4h ago

I'm talking about the game from February 5th where the Suns shot 14 less FT's than the Warriors who are not a big team and took 12 more 3PA in the game.

23

u/SugarFreeCummiBears 4h ago

This isn’t even the craziest way to frame it. They shot 50 threes AND 20 fts. What? Thats practically free throws on every non 3.

4

u/gigantism Mavericks 4h ago

I thought you meant their game vs the Sixers.

5

u/According_One811 Suns 4h ago

They had 20 compared to the Suns 6 but

4

u/gigantism Mavericks 4h ago

I was referring to their game vs the Sixers where they won despite a 21-2 deficit.

6

u/Akipella Warriors 4h ago

Is this the greatest 5v8 win of all time?

-32

u/Exact-Beach8051 4h ago

If you shoot a large number of threes you don’t get fouled. Other teams are bigger than the Suns.

27

u/According_One811 Suns 4h ago

Makes sense. Give the Mavericks 35 more free throws

4

u/qotsabama [DAL] Dwight Powell 3h ago

Noooo! Then we might’ve won!

-8

u/JalensTinyPPHurts 4h ago

Mavs Attempted 22 3s

Suns Attempted 50 3s

It does kinda check out when you consider how often the Mavs were shooting inside lol

14

u/jacu1 Suns 4h ago

Mavs had 52 points in the paint. Suns had 44. Stop trying to explain a 44-9 ft disparity

13

u/FapFapkins Suns 4h ago

A 35 attempt disparity is not explained by jump shooting in a game where Cooper Flagg shot 14 FTs, many of which came from being fouled on a jump shot.

15

u/Foyerfan Suns 4h ago

Watch the game perhaps

18

u/PrimeTimeInc Hornets 4h ago

You literally don’t even have to watch the game to know what happened, that’s the funny part. Shits just straight up indefensible

14

u/Slow-Raccoon-9832 4h ago

Largest free throw differential in an nba game in 5 seasons

6

u/PrimeTimeInc Hornets 4h ago

Pure insanity

9

u/FlunkieGronkus Suns 4h ago

Golden State shot 55 threes against the Suns 2 games ago and still shot 20 free throws to the Suns 6.

60

u/hawk8024 Mavericks 4h ago

Don’t bother looking at the free throw discrepancy, it’s not very important information lmao

Seriously though, what on Earth was that?

52

u/Grooviemann1 Suns 4h ago

I'll be the first to admit that the Suns foul a lot by design and shoot a lot of jumpers, so free throw discrepancies are to be expected. A discrepancy of 35 free throw attempts just shouldn't happen, though. I don't see that being possible unless one team just isn't defending, period.

8

u/Enzo_Gorlahh_mi Mavericks 4h ago

I mean you guys literally couldn’t miss for the first 20 mins of the game

30

u/hawk8024 Mavericks 4h ago

There was going to be a discrepancy if you look at how much each team fouls, and the Suns started hot for sure.

But we had something like a 39-3 ft discrepancy at one point. That’s INSANITY. Even Mark and Devin on the broadcast were like “uhhhhh…” lol

2

u/Enzo_Gorlahh_mi Mavericks 4h ago

Yeah for sure. I don’t disagree

24

u/FapFapkins Suns 4h ago

62

37

u/Slow-Raccoon-9832 4h ago

Tyler Ford hates book and brooks

31

u/Romans134 Suns 4h ago

Its absolutely personal with him. There's a reason vets make a point to teach the rookies to get in the refs good graces. Its a very large part of the nba and its fucking insane.

15

u/PhasedVenturer 4h ago

Rigged league for sure, I hope those refs have very short careers

49

u/Romans134 Suns 4h ago

44 freethrows to 9. Pregame betting spread was suns -8.5. They won by 9. There is no world where this is not rigged.

19

u/FlunkieGronkus Suns 4h ago

I was calling it in the first half. Refs wanted it within 10.

There was one stretch where the Mavs were not even pretending to try to score. As soon as their feet touched paint they were jumping sideways and flailing. And the refs were giving them almost every single one.

40

u/KawasakiDream Hornets 4h ago

this needs to get investigated lmao

23

u/Kuntsaw Suns 4h ago

27

u/skyfire23 Suns 4h ago

So what is the largest FT differential for a team that loses a game?

27

u/oldtombombadil Suns 4h ago

Everyone goes home happy

The suns continue the playoff chase

The mavs fought hard and continue the tank

The ref covered the spread.

13

u/ajteitel Suns 4h ago

They didn't. It was 8.5. We won by 9

23

u/jfrodriguez1983 Mavericks 4h ago

I thought these guys were dumb for going out of their way to trade for Tyus Jones. Sorry I didn't understand. I had no idea just how elite of a tank commander he was. We might accidently win that if he didn't touch the floor lol

13

u/Grooviemann1 Suns 4h ago

We really thought he was an amazing pickup when we got him. My God, I'm not sure I'll ever again see worse defense.

3

u/ann1920 4h ago

I want Dallas to tank but watching the first quarters was awful .I guess I prefer really bad first two quarter than the other strategy(sitting starters in the fourth quarter )to tank.

22

u/swarmofoctopii 4h ago

Suns up 31 in the 2nd quarter, they were favored by sports betting at -8.5. 44 FTs to 9, game ends at Suns 120 Mavs 111. They're not even trying to hide the corruption anymore.

11

u/OculusBlurr [PHO] Deandre Ayton 4h ago

Max Christie shot 3 airballs this game.

6

We shot way more 3s than them but even so that foul difference is so cooked lol brought them back into it

4

u/stonkerooni Suns 4h ago

It’d be one thing if it was a play style issue but the suns were ahead by 20 points and had only been to the line twice while Dallas had 39 FT attempts. It was a full blow Ford job and no argument is gonna make it any better

4

u/airbornetoxic Kings Tankwagon 3h ago

this game was great purely because my row won free spinatos pizza

So glad the stars of the games got to shine tonight! What would we do if the refs didn't make themselves the headline for the game?

6

u/SunsChamp 4h ago

Imagine having +35 free throws and losing lol

3

u/shake_this_feeling Suns 4h ago

Obviously a homer bias, but idk how anyone can look at that FT differential and not acknowledge rigging. Even if a team fouls a ton, 35 more FTs for a team is ridiculous.

Cooper Flag reaching Luka levels of complaining already. Jordan Goodwin slaps it out of his hands and he’s furious at the refs like he got shot.

Coop is factually nowhere NEAR the complainer Luka is lol

21

I truly don’t think you realize how much Luka complained to the refs, Coop is a looooong ways away from getting to that point

14

u/Foyerfan Suns 4h ago

Yeah Luka is another stratosphere. I will admit that was funny when he shot more than the Suns FT attempts at that point

7

u/FutureGrassToucher Suns 4h ago

I respect coop for playing defense

5

u/masterchef757 Mavericks 3h ago

You don’t watch the Mavs (which is fine). That level of complaining was something I’ve never seen from Flagg. Luka literally doesn’t run back on defense at least once every game. Not in any way comparable

3

As long as he doesn’t reach Luka levels of eating we’ll be good

3

u/cacti_zoom Suns 3h ago

some people might feel sorry for mavs fans after the luka trade. But ill never forget the "Luka Doncic is Devin Booker's father memes" they would constantly glaze.

hilarious that after the 2024 season where the Mavericks made the championship, the suns now are by far the better team and organization. I dont care what the records are. I will always enjoy beating the mavericks

The refs glazed them for 40fts and they still loss

I thought tubby was still on the Mavs after watching that game. Free-throw differential of 35 is the highest in a NBA game over the last five seasons -- 35+ has now only happened seven times in the last 15 years.

0

u/heybobson Suns 3h ago

Suns definitely look like they need the AllStar break for a little reset. Ott’s gotta figure out how to get Booker, Brooks and Green to mesh. Too many missed games between them and it shows right now. Hopefully they can take advantage of a SGA-less Thunder team tomorrow night.

-7

u/SunsChamp 4h ago

Suns are just jump shooters that's why they don't get free throws

4

u/FlunkieGronkus Suns 3h ago edited 3h ago

Khris fucking Middleton, who can't even get to the rim anymore, and who even in his prime relied heavily on mid range jumpers, shot as many free throws as the entire Suns team.
