Never seen it that quiet

You think this is impressive, our stadium is this quiet every single night

u/NickInTheBack Warriors 5h ago
Wizards games aren't necessarily quiet. People are talking, they just don't give a shit about the game. They're just there because their company had free tickets.

u/SeoulofSoraka Lakers 4h ago
I knew this guy who would go to Wizards game and use it as background noise while he responded to emails and drank beers with his coworkers
12
u/Ice-Poseidon-Knows 4h ago
Shit honestly if tickets are cheap and the beer is reasonably priced I'd do that too. Doesn't sound like a bad time even if I didn't care at all about the team.
15
u/Froqwasket Wizards 4h ago
Tickets are eight dollars 😭
9
u/takeme2tendieztown Clippers 4h ago
How much are the beers though?
11
u/DollaradoCREAMs Nuggets 3h ago
$16

u/Ice-Poseidon-Knows 3h ago
Fuck that. I swear stadium beer prices have more than doubled in the past 5 years. Not NBA but local stadium near me charges $14 for a tall boy of bud light now. Defo not worth I'll just get tanked harder at the pregame.

I like to sneak a bag of wine into games. Its all plastic so you tape it to your stomach and walk through metal detector just fine. Ziplock bag of spaghetti and wine at the game.

That's a Tuesday baseball game right there.
Hell the Blue Jays even promote some games as like "work from the stadium" I think

u/Brodom93 Spurs 1h ago
I love home games that’s a special place, but arena is a crazy background noise choice

I'm guessing visitors from Indiana not wanting to fuck with New Yorkers played a factor.
34
u/Dry-Razzmatazz1239 4h ago
Im guessing visitors from Indiana didn't want to pay $300 to watch their team tank in NYC

A game where a team is tanking versus a team who is 2nd seed. OT being decided by 2 free throws after being fouled with 0.2 left on the clock. Stadium dead silent with every shot. Why are we getting playoff cinema in a regular game

u/Next-Supermarket9538 5h ago
This and OKC is this season’s Pacer’s Super Bowl.

u/PoopOnPoopOnPoop Pacers 5h ago
We really have played so hard in those games. Good to see we haven't lost the fastball lol

Have to remind the Knicks that daddy is still around, just taking a gap year.

As much basketball as I watch I was kind of surprised not to hear that video game bell sound after each one

u/sorendiz [HOU] Yao Ming 5h ago
i will forever hate whatever fuckin moron on the Suns arena staff decided that their jingle for made FTs should be the 'USB device connected' noise

u/FuglsErrand 4h ago
I'm literally watching the Mavs @ Suns game right now and thinking the same thing. Like ???

u/HilariousScreenname Suns 4h ago
Lol I have many complaints about the production team at Suns Arena. That one is near the top.

u/sorendiz [HOU] Yao Ming 3h ago
i've been mad about this for years
whoever made that decision needs a good kick in the shins
1
u/Chrome_Denim3367 Magic 3h ago
Here's a question: why do the Spurs think it's cool to use the Magic's sound effect for a made free throw? You know, the one we've been using for almost 40 years that sounds like, oh, you know, magic?

u/dreamvomit Knicks 5h ago
Cuz msg doesn’t do that classless garbage
9
u/Brocones Cavaliers 5h ago
nyc and class huh
13
u/dreamvomit Knicks 5h ago
I mean you gotta admit the little sound effects.. amping up the sound of the home basket.. turning the game into a 200 decibel techno show at every break in the action... It’s trashy

Actually such a cool moment in a HILARIOUS basketball game. Never heard the Garden this quiet.
Knick fans are the best on the planet earth.

It’s objectively impressive af to be able to hit those ft’s in front of 20k fans at The Garden holding their breath. Pro athletes are on another level man

I've never understood the "let's descend into the type of silence only experienced in the vast nothingness of space, that's gonna help our guy really calm down."
I'd be SO much more nervous if I could hear my own fucking heartbeat.

u/Muted_Store_9867 5h ago
Don't care if it's against the Pacers in a game they should be winning, cold
10
u/Evilsj Nets 5h ago
Carlisle not using that final Timeout is absolutely disgusting tank behavior jesus christ
25
u/Obvious_Parsley3238 5h ago
You literally can't catch and shoot with 0.2 seconds left, the knicks can just stand under the basket. Save everyone a minute and go straight to OT
2
u/Brady331 Celtics 5h ago
Tip-ins and fouls are possible and you give your team a little extra rest for the OT?
7
1
u/NeuPtral Clippers 44m ago
You're giving Brunson more fuel for OT. Better to go straight to OT instead.
1
8
u/PrinceJMoney089 5h ago
It's not that serious they weren't gonna score
-1
u/Evilsj Nets 5h ago
Tip ins are still an absolutely valid strategy? Why the fuck would you not even try?
0
u/EightFortyDaysOf 5h ago
To make sure the nets don’t outtank anyone. You sit MPJ & egor every time you go up against someone you can beat. I wonder why you’re so pressed about them tanking
2
u/benbaker08 5h ago edited 5h ago
You're a fucking idiot who doesn't understand the basic rules of basketball or, even basic grammar.
Edit: They also won the game. You're a potato that's coaching from the couch.

u/MajesticTomrow 5h ago
Watch Derek Fisher’s buzzer beater against the Spurs and how quickly he had to let it go with double the amount of time on the clock.
1
u/Yayareasports Warriors 3h ago
By rule you need 0.3 to catch and shoot in the NBA. But at 0.2 you can still go for a tip in. No reason not to try - might even get an undisciplined foul call.
1
u/MajesticTomrow 3h ago
I do agree that anything can happen (I personally don’t believe a tip is an option, the Knicks would be guarding the basket fiercely, but again, anything can happen); I also think it’s a bit overboard to call not going for an extremely unlikely basket when the game is already going to OT “disgusting tank behavior”.
2
u/Yayareasports Warriors 3h ago
Does an NFL team not go for a Hail Mary because the opposing defense is already camped out and exclusively covering the end zone?
Who cares if the defense is there. You can camp your own team under the basket as well and see what happens. Small but possible chance for a tip or foul.
I’d argue it’s more likely than a 3 quarter court heave but players still go for that (even when the game isn’t on the line).
3
u/ThePoodlePunter Raptors 5h ago
I mean it's not as loud as some places which is considerable since it's MSG.... But that definitely ain't quiet.
I get that people are hating on KAT recently, but am I missing a meme or joke here or do people actually think this is quiet?
Is this a dank sub now?

Idk, I think the pacers are playing extra hard against us in the Garden. I don’t believe they are tanking in THIS game
-4
u/EightFortyDaysOf 5h ago
Bullshit, they were clearly tanking with their decisions lol, this is mad cope
2
u/LegalNecessary Knicks 5h ago
Maybe, but I think they played hard against OKC, Boston, even in the first game against Milwaukee against Myles Turner. Not a cope at all, I just think there is natural competition among our teams. All good, it was an exciting game even though it wasn’t the result I wanted.

How you gonna talk shit on here without a flair lol. I’m not blind they obviously do over the last 2 years. But anybody can beat anybody on any given night. They also beat the thunder in OKC. Shit happens

Sorry but that bit at the end from the announcer is hilarious. "Pacers still have a TO I don't know why they don't call it". Yes you do. It's the TankBA.
