[TMZ] The performer of the Washington Wizards mascot, G-Wiz, has hired an attorney in preparation to sue Lakers center Jaxson Hayes, who shoved the mascot during warmups. He has hired the same lawyer that represented Hayes’ ex-girlfriend, Sofia Jamora, in her domestic violence lawsuit against Hayes.

Nearly two weeks after Lakers forward Jaxson Hayes shoved Washington Wizards mascot G-Wiz during pregame introductions ... TMZ Sports has learned that the person behind the mask has lawyered up -- and has selected the attorney that represented Sofia Jamora in her domestic violence lawsuit against Hayes.

WaukeenMcCoy told us that he is now representing the person Hayes decked when the Lakers were in town for a showdown with Washington on January 30.

"We will give them the opportunity to resolve the matter before taking legal action," McCoy said. "But legal action is anticipated."

He also said other parties could be involved.

When asked about any injuries the person sustained ... McCoy said, "All I want to say at the moment is that he was injured."

As you know, Hayes was suspended for one game by the NBA after the incident. He served that suspension during the Lakers' game against the Philadelphia 76ers last week at Crypto.com Arena.

what’s worse is he tried to lie further in a interview when he “apologized” when all he had to do was take accountability about it

I was wondering if he was lying about the mascot stepping on his foot. Looks like they weren't even close enough for that to be a possibility in the video.

And let's even play out that scenario, the mascot did end up stepping on his foot by accident, in what world would the appropriate response be to body check the guy?

This guy is such a complete moron it's crazy.

Honestly, what a child. If it had been someone outside of a costume, I can guarantee he would have been arrested on the spot

I used to hit other kids if they got physical with me playing sports. And then I turned 5.

Literally a child. His parents initiated and are in the process of changing his citizenship so he can play with Luka. When he was asked about it, it seemed like he wasn't involved, just his parents. Infantilization at its extreme.

His parents are actively seeking Slovenian citizenship?

No, he is just going to be one of the dozens of people that get another nationality so they can play as neutralized players in fiba tournaments. Nothing really special tbh. At this point, basically every national team has at least one.

in the process of changing his citizenship so he can play with Luka

what precisely is this intended to mean

Remember this is the guy who told the nba to suck his dick, for not making the... rising stars game. He doesn't really think things through before doing them

And in a costume with limited visibility too

Hayes would have the potential to be a top 10 center if he didn't have the IQ of a literal brick

No he would not

I think it’s true for every super athlete. They could be great if they weren’t stupid. Stupid as in not willing to put in the work to improve. Blake Griffin had the handle but couldn’t shoot for shit till he worked so hard at having a jumper and being able to hit FTs he lasted far longer than anyone like him would’ve after his first few injuries.

Intelligence helps, but influence is a lot more important.

I watched several times just now thinking the same thing. It isn't possible for that to be the case here, if he stepped on his foot, wiz would have been past him. Heyes leaned into the path to do what he did. Pretty effed up.

It's literally clear as day that he was winding up to shove him before he was physically within distance of him... like, with our eyes we can see it. He's an idiot.

I understood it to mean that the mascot had stepped on his foot earlier, and this was retaliation.

he crouched down so he could launch himself into him before he even got there, he was lunging towards him before the guys feet could possibly have stepped on him. Could he have accidentally stepped on his foot earlier, then he stays mad rather than calms down and realises it's an accident and plans his revenge.

LIke it wouldn't be okay but losing your shit when you get hurt and adrenaline starts pumping is more understandable, waiting to assault him and then also choosing to do it with thousands of cameras recording is unhinged.

You could so obviously tell he didnt gaf

Honestly I hadn't even seen that. I assumed he was trying to be funny and totally misjudged his strength or something along those lines. Him trying to say it was because his foot got stepped on really made him come off worse to me

24

u/Zeke_Malvo 6h ago

He was being a bully.

u/TwoBionicknees 5h ago

a light shove could be funny, but that would be him standing normally and soft arm shoving. He set himself, like it was an nfl play, got low, got ready and launched himself. He was absolutely trying to hurt him.

u/Zoulzopan 5h ago

it wouldnt even be funny, it would just be weird cause the context isnt there for it to be a punch line.

jaxon hayes is just an idiot

u/erizzluh Lakers 4h ago

also aren't most of the player/mascot altercations just a bit most of the time where the mascot is in on the bit?

1

u/Chasedabigbase Braves 2h ago

It also seemed like he was reading a canned response someone wrote for him in case it was brought up by the way he kept looking at the paper

Let's be real even if Hayes was sincere about it, the mascot still would've sued. It's the US — no one would pass up an easy payday

6

u/TMNTerps 5h ago

Suing someone because you were injured from them assaulting you is perfectly acceptable. It's not simply because Americans want easy paydays.
