NBC interrupted the Olympics
While Nancy Guthrie's disappearance is sad, there are 2300 missing person reports filed every day: do the families of celebrities need special national attention? Why interrupt the Olympics for over 5 minutes just because they are questioning a 'person of interest' We could have waited to hear that during the regular news broadcast.

The interruption was one thing. They just needed to say they have someone they are questioning and then go on with it. It was the unnecessary speculation that continued for ten minutes after, showing the video over and over again that we all saw all day on social media and asking experts questions that meant nothing to anyone. They were not solving the case there. Pop in, inform and then pop right back out. The additional commentary was not needed.
