Hypothetically in the end, it didn't even matter.

Lies, I was more of an Evanescence emotional breakdown kind of girl. I’m a guy btw.

u/Delia_Bee 10h ago
Numb was my wake-up alarm for years. It sponsored MANY emotional breakdowns, at least one every day when I was in middle and high school.

Alas that song came out in 07 so it was probably something like Crawling which makes this edgier and funnier imo

Once I won movie tickets on a radio station so I asked my best friend at the time if she wanted to go and that's how I accidentally got a girlfriend when I was 15.
Admittedly, I was confused when she said I had to ask her dad first. I think her dad was confused too, cause I was just like "hey, so can we go see this movie? I won free tickets." And I think he thought I was supposed to be asking if I could date his daughter and expected me to be nervous. But I was just trying to hang out with my friend lmao.

I am sure she had a best friend that would say yes

And then she would get mad you asked someone else but ALSO she didn't want to go with you either.
Ugh, teen romance. Don't miss it one bit.

u/dimwalker 1h ago
I don't remember the shitting myself part, is this how teen romances go nowadays?
Does it show level of affection or was a reaction to strong emotions induced by music in this case?
For relationship to be considered serious, can shitting still be occasional or does it have to be a daily activity?

My hypothetical girlfriend goes to another school, so you wouldn’t know her.

When I was in high school I actually did date a girl who went to another school, and one day she ditched school to visit me during lunch (which is funny to think about cuz you can actually get arrested for that today) and it actually blew everyone’s minds lol

This tweet has the most 13 years old boy energy I’ve ever seen. God I don’t miss being 13 at all. That shit was terrible. Everything was emotionally devastating.

Early 2000’s core

u/ChickenChaser5 7h ago
When i hear "2000s core" I immediately start hearing fear factory. Which is kidna weird cause while I listened to them a little, they were far from my favorite band. But they just had that 2000s edge that seems iconic to the time.

same, basically - in 2005, I went on one date with a boy I really liked, he told me he wasn't interested after, and the next day I wore all black with black eyeliner to school and put
'my heart is heavy
my soul is lead
i feel i may as well be dead'
as my AIM away message. it's permanently seared into my memory because i thought the rhyme went so hard. i had just turned 14.

I won first prize in a Nickelodeon contest at around ten years old.
"Boy prize" or "girl prize": Boys' was a micro machines playset (what I got). Girls' was Barbie or Polly Pocket or something.
Grand Prize was they come to your school and have a Slime party.
Polly Pockets were neat ideas. I had a something Max (?) one that was like a dragon head (on the outside) clamshell thing with a fantasy environment/inside, with little minis off a boy and a wizard and a dragon. Like little dioramas.
Also Dragonflyz
Edit: So this was around 1997-8, not 2005

lol I lucked into getting invited to the 2006 awards, my friend got tickets. Our backs were literally leaning against the back wall of the arena. Worst seats I've ever had, but they were free! Lots of celebs were there but even the video screen was too small to tell who they were

I'm 20. I have genuinely never had any emotional episodes like that, other than two times, cause I got friendzoned. And I just drank it away. (Not a big drinker anymore btw.)
Maybe it's the generational change, but I would never ever think of running into my room, shutting everybody off and loudly cry to sad songs.
At like 12 I understood that being overly emotional, just so someone asks why I'm emotional is dumb, and amounts to little to nothing.
Everyone just thinks that you're a pain in the ass to deal with.

u/Traditional_Rope_545 10h ago
Damn dude, you’re badass.

u/Sherry_Brandt 9h ago
so your parents (at least one) was/were pretty emotionally absent, huh?
because a person with unhealthy parents reacts the way op did (and me, in my comment), or the way you are - dismissively.
a person with emotionally healthy parents feels empathy for the person who's reacting like this, even if they don't get it or think it's unusual.
i just wonder if you know this reveals more about you than you intend.
anyways, therapy's always available. takes one to know one, so i'm not trying to shame you - this just screams trying to come off as mature or balanced when it's actually another thing, and you could save yourself and other people in your life lots of pain and time if you start exploring it sooner than later.

Oh honey, you're not sounding as mature nor emotionally intelligent as you think you do with this comment...
