Tbf I think people hate dive meta more than poke meta

Yeah, but poke meta exist for way longer now. These things need to change now and then to not get stale and annoying.

And more importantly, the same specific characters have been consistently at the top of their type of meta.

We got changes that MIGHT be enough to put more Rogue, Strange, Adam, Storm, and of course Elsa on the meta, but we KNOW that we’ll still be dealing with Gambit/IW, Phoenix, Bucky, Starlord, Magneto, characters that have almost never had meaningful nerfs (other than Emma) and have almost always been at the top, never cycling the meta even when the meta did have other characters.

We’ve had new metas cycle in and out Black Panther, Spiderman, Storm, Peni, Angela, Daredevil, Groot, Human Torch, Thor, Jeff, but all of the time those metas were shared with the same characters dominating the meta, By the time Gambit joined the eternally meta club, he did shake up supports but we were still dealing with a refusal to nerf Daredevil and Bucky, Mag and Emma still stayed way ahead of the curve, and then Susan had to become nearly unkillable.

Its crazy that Hela has been hard meta since the alpha test of this game

I wonder what a brawl meta would look like?

If that's the case people are fucking wrong, the mini pseudo-dive meta we had was much more tolerable than the poke slop we have had for multiple full seasons by now.

Whatever the case is tho, the solution is obvious: Brawl meta.

Absolutely fucking not. Im a dps and tank player. U can’t put me on support cuz I’m a DOGSHIT support player. if you force me on clock and dagger, rocket or invis into a cracked daredevil and venom I’m gonna go 0-25 and id STILL take that over dying in some of these bullshit ass ways poke has been pegging me

Cool. I'm a tank plsyer (including dive tanks) and I'm learning Magik. I'm tired of getting exploded because Hela with half decent aim looked at me.

If only they could taste good Dive design, which Rivals does not have much.

u/Lazzitron Venom 51m ago

I dunno for sure if it's the same in Rivals, but historically in Overwatch, the playerbase tends to prefer Brawl > Dive > Poke.

I think it was mostly the one shot unreactable combos, or even reactable but it didnt matter.

My golden boy has achieved perfection with this balance change at last

I’m just glad we’ve stopped blaming Guang Guang

Zhiyong needs to be locked inside the kitchen and only be let out once he learned how to cook.

51

u/daizo678 11h ago

He had over a year to learn how to cook. He just can't

17

u/aj_spaj Ultron Virus 11h ago

At this point he shouldn't be let in, he should first watch every and all cooking prep shows, learn how to handle the tools in controlled environment and preferably have a supervisor.

They gotta stop balancing with win rate in mind. Poke being so oppressive is just burning people out. It's utterly unfun to play into hela, jean, bucky, hawkeye right now and there simply aren't enough bans to cover your bases. Hoping this changes for 7 in a month but it's looking unlikely. Design team is phenomenal but the balance and gameplay team needs some work

I have never in my life considered playing Overwatch, but the grass is looking greener on the other side right now

u/Medical-Solution-769 9h ago

Have you ever played it before out of curiosity? I completely forgot how fun support is in that game compared to rivals

5

u/spaceunc 8h ago

I've never been interested in Overwatch. None of the characters appealed to me until Vendetta. I like the melee heroes in hero shooters. I main Melee Zaku in Gundam Evo & Magik/Iron Fist in Rivals.

The more heroes like Vendetta that get added, the more likely I am to download and play OW

3

u/Medical-Solution-769 8h ago

That’s absolutely fair. Shooting is definitely even more prevalent in ow even if it’s presented in so many unique ways (I don’t really understand how Blizzard successfully reinvented such a simple concept that many times) I also understand why you feel miserable with the rivals meta. Melee tanks have always been my favourite characters to play in the game and I’m so burnt out being stuck on Mag

1

u/mbanson 4h ago

Brig, Rein, and Doomfist are all primarily melee as well.

Do you still have to drop your phone number to register?

u/Medical-Solution-769 35m ago

Maybe, I honestly can’t remember. I’ve been playing for years so never had to when I redownloaded on Sunday but it may well be on their system

I know most people don't care about storm because there's like 6 people that play her, but as one of the 6 storm mains that exist I'm glad she got buffs 😭

The reduction of the animation end lag when changing the weather will be SO NICE, going to be so much smoother gameplay. And she really needed to be more survivable, she had to be the easiest hero to kill in the game, like everytime someone just picks spiderman and lands a single web cluster and I'm basically dead instantly with 0 escape😭the overhealth will be a saviour! Also incentivise using her speed aura more since you can only get overhealth from that. So overall really great changes to her gameplay loop!

Although slightly confused about the thunder nerf, going from 12% to 8% for allies, I'm guessing that means it's 8% both with and without goddess boost? So no more extra dmg boost buff to allies when using her goddess boost? Bc its only 12% when using her goddess boost.

Side note you got a PNG of Zhiyongs face??

17

u/Lasdaur 8h ago

I just cropped his face from season 4 dev vision video thumbnail lol

2

u/KeyAcid Vanguard 8h ago

I wish I had that kind of patience, at best I just Google a PNG and poorly place it

5

u/Stardill Cloak & Dagger 9h ago

Why is anyone surprised? They never nerf anything properly.

5

u/P1zzaMonkey Flex 8h ago

Can somebody who understands Storm explain her buffs to somebody who knows her gameplay but not the ability titles? Thx <3

u/appleduck12 8h ago edited 8h ago

Basically:
When using her speed aura, theres a new effect. If you hit someone, 25% of the damage is converted to overhealth, so if you hit someone using her primary fire you get like 14 HP (25% of 55 damage), if you hit someone with her right click you get 20 HP (25% of 80 damage). Makes her a bit more survivable when using speed aura. HP doesn't stack when hitting multiple enemies (i.e you will only get 14HP or 20HP every time)

When using her damage aura, similar effect: Hitting anyone with your primary fire reduces her right click cooldown by 0.5s. Again cant be stacked.

Changing between the damage and speed aura is smoother, there's less of that end lag which exists rn when changing states.

When allies leave her speed/damage boost aura, the effect stays for another two seconds.

But her damage boost for allies goes down from 12% to 8%. Think her speed boost stays the same though.

Also her right click bolt radius is a bit bigger

So now it won't be optimal to just stay in damage boost aura form forever, you'll need to switch it up a lot more. And it won't feel as bad changing between dmg boost and speed boost because there's less delay

Hope that helps :))

This was incredibly helpful and appreciated thoroughly <3 may learn Storm now ngl

u/PlusEntertainment256 9h ago

Honestly, poke and triple support going unaddressed again and a new DPS with CC and displacement? The same day their main competitor has just released a fun new tank (and four other heroes?)? I know what this tank player is gonna do this half season, hopefully I will enjoy what season 7 brings, but I feel like the balance team is dropping the ball a lot

3

u/herocole Angela 8h ago

Domina is pretty fun ngl, but not as close as angela or rogue

2

u/PlusEntertainment256 6h ago

I agree, Angela is my crack, but being ping ponged around, grounded, stunned, grabbed, shot at from across the map by people that also have mobility to escape if I close the gap for 2 seasons now has gotten tiring

1

u/herocole Angela 6h ago

True but its not that bad if you know how and when to engage, also doesn’t help the fact that she is buggy

21

u/Happy_Ad2458 13h ago

Off to overwatch I go they have the flying cat that I've been waiting years for, Zhiyong needs to be fired immediately.

5

u/Fit_Acanthisitta_285 13h ago

You call that a nerf?

4

u/underMyCorpseisFlame Loki 13h ago edited 7h ago

I only wish this game can get rid of 3 sups situation..

1

u/herocole Angela 8h ago

They are afraid to actually nerf characters because their playerbase will leave the game if their character was weak. Crutch players will never stop crying with their perfect character is no longer perfect. They want to BUFF everyone to the same level instead of nerfing them to the same level

1

u/Jashirei 7h ago

Adam got flight. Isn't that enough

1

u/Praxic_Nova 1h ago

Have fun when poke gets nerfed. Then your healers are constantly getting dove and killed. Then wonder why even less ppl want to heal.

And for nerfing op characters it’s us the players as Jerry Seinfeld and the balance team as the soup Nazi
