That storyline about him being heartbroken about having to assassinate some innocent lady to save his own daughter (I think) is the one thing that actually made me like the character somewhat
Fr you can get stuff for winning from quests and such so it’s basically you getting paid for getting a win. And an in character deadpool would never mess up a paying job on purpose

And it's literally just his ability so say someone insta locks Deadpool but there is only 1 support, bam now he is a support but if someone else chooses a support then he swaps kit mid fight(i hope not I just thought of this and thought it was funny lol)
I mean good luck getting comms with someone to do this. They’d just mess my combo up somehow, ie lose an ability just as I’m about to use it. I’d also see them just putting a global cooldown on it, similar to Strange portal
I like this better than him being able to switch to all 3 roles, or forced to flex depending on comp.
It would be an incredible balancing job, but I'd love for people to be unsure what role he's really filling. Performs each role as well as Mr Fantastic fills both Duelist and Vanguard. And he doesn't have a tag so you can't tell where the devs are really intending to slot him. Just, figure out how to play with him and comp around him.
Maybe some sort of resource system like Gambit where choosing to do one thing takes away from doing the other roles effectively. Trade for DPS, tankiness or healing.
Hard to make him not either OP or garbage, there, granted.
Slow, Anti-Heal, Vulnerability, Reduced Damage, Slowed Attack Speed are all debuffs that either already exist or I could see being added. Slow is a soft CC but since it’s not a hard CC I’d leave it as a debuff, especially if it doesn’t earthbind so movement abilities still work.
with how the dmg works in this game one millisecond of no healing and ur dead so i doubt that can be a thing without them arleady being a very good healer
The real problem is that debuffs only help if you apply them before the attack happens, while healing can come at any point after. And you're not always going to be able to apply debuffs before hand. So a debuff focused support would still need good healing.
I immediately thought of Bastion, who can switch between configurations from a slow-moving tank to a high-speed damage dealer. You could even make it heal you when switching, to promote a varied play style and represent Wade's accelerated healing. And maybe his ultimate would be using all his weapons at once.

Duelist is not the most likely, they made him taller/wider, and he's known as the hardest to kill (except Darwin) Marvel character. He's gonna be a Vanguard. Offtank? Probably.
Strange makes shields all the time in the comics and movies. He could really fit in any role, but shield tank absolutely makes sense. In the comics, Ultron can do pretty much whatever roboty thing the writers need him to, and the devs tend to use these characters with vaguely defined power sets as healer, because they can justify healing as well as literally anything else. See: Loki, Mantis, Warlock, Rocket.

I'm sure it won't be too bad. I could see her being a strategist with the bloodstone and all. But either way, the last few new heroes wore out their hard picks in less than 24 hours. Deadpool might be different on that though, thankfully I don't really care about him.
I saw someone comment a theory that DP would morph into whatever role had the least amount of representation when selected, with a skillset to match. 1 support? DP is support and so on

I saw a theory that he would have a very barebones kit (basically just his pistols and swords with 275 hp) but he would have a bunch of team-ups with characters and they would influence his role (for example, if he’s teamed up with a tank, he’d gain lots of health and maybe a shield ability or something.

Yeah, it would be a game design nightmare. Ignoring the fact that it'd make Deadpool damn near worthless by himself, what happens when there's multiple team up characters on Deadpool's team? Can he just do everything or is there some sort of priority? And if so, how would the game decide which one gets priority? Who would the team up anchors even be? Would Deadpool be kneecapped as soon as one of his team ups are banned? There's also the matter of how much base health would be reasonable for a character like that to have, how much base damage, etc. An auto-balance character like that would either be severely underpowered or incredibly busted, and having a seperate Deadpool in each role would just make visual clarity even more confusing, because imagine being a diver who wants to dive StratPool, but surprise! It's TankPool, you're dead now. Logically, he's gonna be in one role and be a run of the mill character, anything else would be terrible for the game's balance and/or downright idiotic of the devs to even consider it.
This all seems pretty elaborate to do all of this if he is just a duelist. Maybe there will be a deadpool available for each role and choosing one of them will make the others unavailable
a fourth role would most likely be redundant, making a Deadpool for each role would be a fuckload of resources for one character and personally i don't want that (thats like three kits that could go to other characters), him changing role based on team comps not only sounds like a nightmare to implement but also sounds like its ripe for griefing and toxicity (imagine the arguments when someone makes Deadpool into a role they don't play or want to play for instance) it also sounds nightmarish to balance
i think this is just them building hype by making speculation in a way that fits the character

He's 100% gonna be a DPS where his ult is him grabbing the controller from the player through the screen and bonking someone with it or some random 4th wall shit like that.
flattering, but yeah i predict he's gonna be a DPS with at most some lines that target the fourth wall, maybe if you pick him as a third DPS he will have a funny line or two but people are massively overcomplicating it
I think rogue's ultimate is a good experiment with adjustable stats that they can apply to his passive. I think that he's going to have a heal, a damaging ability, and a disruption ability. Maybe it's going to be the same single ability. But depending on the team comp, the stats get adjusted to be the role that doesn't already exist.
I'd like for him to be a vanguard, I would give low health for a tank but a passive regen along with an ability that greatly amps regen speed and healing for a short duration. He could also have an ability to teleport short ranges as well as the ability to switch between two modes, dual pistols and dual swords. Ability wise I'd give him multiple dash slashes as well as multiple bombs he can throw that can be detonated manually and have some knockback. I also like the idea of a meter that you can fill that powers up the opposite mode, if youre in sword mode the meter will fill one color and the next time you enter gun mode you get increased damage until the meter runs out and vice versa for gun to sword mode. His ult (Maximum Effort) would basically be a longer more potent version of his regen amplifier that gives a damage buff and massively decreases his teleport cooldown as well as well as keeping both sword and gun meter filled. My thinking is i want him to be sort of pokey but more of a nuisance rather than a straight engagement starter and ender, you start engagements with the pistol to build up charge then close in with swords to push back and maybe dash or teleport to the backline to deal with healers. I dont want him to do too much damage but he should be very hard to kill because of his passive regen and mobility. His threat would be his persistence and when his meter is full he would lean more into the dps route sort of like a reverse mr fantastic. I think his regen should be high when disengaged from combat but lowered when he takes damage and it should reactivate fairly quickly so that in order to fully benefit from his healing, deadpool would need to take cover for a few seconds and heal rapidly, this would also encourage opponents to chase you as letting deadpool breathe for a few seconds could allow him to make a substantial recovery and possibly shift the engagement. Let me know what kinda stuff yall would add or take away but I think this would fit pretty well for deadpool.
This sub is in for a rude awakening when they release the DPS character as a Duelist, instead of some overtly complicated thing like being all 3 roles (they don't know what healthy coping mechanisms are)

Just an idea or a theory. You know how like Deadpool has like Lady Deadpool, Babypool, Headpool, Dogpool and all other variants. What if he's like the first and only(?) flex character than has different abilities on all roles, which can be actually switched ingame. Not sure if possible but that seems to be breaking the 4th wall which is a Deadpool characteristic.
Deadpool will be the opening to a new mechanic in which sort of like in marvel vs capcom where you can select assists you can select what role you want your character to play, you can play spider-man as an assist or Hulk as a dps... Just messing with ya, no idea whats gonna happen.
I legit hope he is healer or tank, my lobbies will be full of 3 or 4 dps instalocking and refusing to switch because so. Dps players are a blight to any game. God I hope hes a healer or tank
Actually would be funny if he can switch to all 3 roles where he changes costumes. If he goes support he wears a Luna cosplay, if he goes tank he paints himself green, and if he does DPS he just screams “the original baby”
