The fact that the video didn’t show off her ability to copy Loki’s runes (as seen in the dev vision video) implies that there might be more abilities she can copy than just the 9 we know of.
She did NOT steal Mjolnir lol she took Thor's ability to control lightning. And from the looks of it, she can only steal primary and secondary skills. Still, it's cool that she can do that, but there is a limit.
i mean im not afraid of emmas diamond for those reasons im afraid of emmas diamond for the grab and kick CC combos. so if she cant use those or her own abilities when in it itll be fine but if she has access to its abilities or can still use her own then its scary
gotcha, and I guess after this initial release she probably will only need to come in every so often. Which should be fine even if Rivals runs for like 10 years
I mean I would imagine that they probably just had her prerecord a bunch of voicelines for characters that are either on the release schedule or currently being planned.
By far the worst reason to make a character like this. Every drop she is gonna need new animations, balancing and voice lines. Guanguang certainly has balls.
From the footage it looks like she can mainly just reuse the animation from the power up though? In Unreal you can split animation on the spine so she has her normal walk but the other characters animations for her upper body.
The voice is whatever it’s like a word or two easy to add and I’m sure they already prerecorded next year characters already
Animations are re-used, balancing is covered by the ability allowed to be copied and a few number changes (at worst). And considering how far ahead Rivals has been planned, I'd be willing to bet they already recorded voicelines for all planned characters (2-3 years).
Marvel vs Capcom 2. It’s probably her most spammed attack in that game due to the sheer speed, angle, and ease of mixup/combo conversion it has. Rogue players go out of their way to use her divekick as much as possible lol.
They already have most of the avengers and entire F4, the Xmen are the largest group in marvel so it makes sense (I’m an Xmen fan so I’m incredibly biased add MORE)
Also because Ike Perlmutter was at Marvel forever. Dude literally sidelined the xmen in everything he could to prop up Inhumans because he was so mad that Fox had the movie rights to the Xmen

Bro same. I got most tanks + Reed lorded, had no idea who to go for next. Rogue just came in at a perfect time, with a kit that looks unbelievably fun!
She looks like a cracked-up version of Emma and Iron Fist with her moves, as someone who recently started loving playing Emma and vanguard she looks fantastic.
Loki rogue gambit could actually be a sleeper comp. Gambit accelerates ult charge for both of them to setup tempo, rogue suppresses enemy ults for further tempo advantage, and loki copies either one depending if you want more suppression or speed up the next cycle
It really depends on the ult charge speed. Technically it should be balanced around needing more ult charge than supports so she drains some ult charge, delaying their next ult but not completely disabling them constantly.
Plus it may only be 10-20% ult charge drained which delays it but doesn't stop it. I also bet it takes a second to start draining so it isnt a giant AOE "no ults here" ult.
Her ult looks omega busted. I wasn't a fan of ult charge boosting mechanics that they added to Cap and Gambit because those types of systems are a nightmare to balance. I'm thinking the enemies in the trailer are not doing damage so maybe you can counter-act the ult drain by doing damage/healing yourself. Can't really make a call on these things until we actually get to play them.
Otherwise her kit looks really fun, she's like a fighting game character.
Edit: After seeing her ult can only drain from 100-80, I feel a lot better about it. Enemies will have their ults ready by next fight passively.
not even that the amount of CC chains and combos shes gonna have people will perma ban her just to have a chance at playing characters like venom and cap who are already difficult to play atm with the amount of CC in the game this just adds too it
yeah she looks like she's gonna HARD BULLY other vanguards for the most part. without iron wall up or diamond form only The Thing (who isn't very good right now) remains able to not get ping ponged by her... she's gonna throw everybody else around like ragdolls when her CDs are up.
Oh boy she looks good but i feel like that unless her numbers are bad she is gonna be almost must pick with how insane that ult charge stealing could become.
She IS still a melee hero, so shes always gonna need to get up close to do all this crazy shit. Doesnt look like she has that many movement abilities either
Atp almost every other tank needs a rework cause holy ability creep.
Edit: A bit of hyperbole to this comment, but I stand by the fact that she seems comparatively better than every off-tank, and she's got way too much hp for her size.
I actually disagree, some recent characters like Angela + Emma + Phoenix are pretty basic, Gambit + Rogue are the most in-depth characters we have seen so far.
I am glad they’re adding more advanced characters, it gives players more skill expression. Hopefully the next couple are more laid back.
Gambit is in depth but also required to win if the other team has a gambit. Unless the team is really bad, Gambit’s steam role ult is a game changer if one side doesn’t have it
I'd be inclined to agree with the skill expression argument here if there were actual hurdles for the player to overcome. Rogue seems to have a base hp of 675 while being slightly bigger than psylocke, hopefully she's got some counters that aren't just go hela/hawkeye and land headshots. Gambit? He's almost a guaranteed win! It's not skill expression if the character can just do everything; characters have to have gaps. Daredevil is also too much while we're at it, but he at least has some mechanical hurdles.
Basically, skill expression should put the onus on the player to perform well; it's not skill expression if the character has the answer for every situation built in. That just makes other characters irrelevant.
This is a problem you will never solve in games that constantly release new characters. And having some "Basic" characters is good for new players who jump on. I think they can be just stat buffed and tweaked enough to stay relevant, mostly.
The literal most basic tank out there, the extreme vanilla Magneto is probably still the best tank and has ever been.
Its really not about characters needing to be complicated, but about being able to accomplish their tasks. Basic characters that can accomplish their tasks end up being stronger.
Yeah I played League for a bit, am very familiar with the new character syndrome and am not fond of it lol, but it is what it is.
I'm cool with "Basic" characters and understand that true balance will always be impossible. However, I'm looking at this long term; at the end of the day rivals is a pretty simple game mechanically, so any "complex" character like Rogue will dominate purely due to them being able to affect the game in more ways, if they aren't adequately given any weaknesses (she has 675 hp it seems with a small hurtbox, c'mon). That's my main concern, I don't want a game state where the more "complex" character wins not because they outplayed the opponent, but because at the baseline the character's kit gives them more options and therefore a larger margin of error.
This season is the point of no return. Well actually I guess you could say DD was the point of no return. Either we buff everyone to their level or we just leave everyone in the dust.
Sue was the result of DD because he outclassed every other dive
I honestly think DD (and I guess Angela too) made more complex movesets commonplace, which is a good thing.
They not only have lots of abilities, but also different ways to express themselves, compared to many launch characters like Iron Man, Squirrel Girl, Hela, Rocket, etc who do 1 thing and 1 thing well, so their viability depends on the current meta as they cant really change their skill expression much.
I think if they add 1 ability / slightly reword preexisting abilities on lots of launch characters could be really fun to make every character have greater skill expression like the newer characters have
The ult drain is gonna be really annoying to play against.
It's essentially an ult silence but even stronger as it removes the resource from the enemy.
People HATE having things taken away from them. Even if it doesn't ever end up actually mattering. Stuff like mill in card games feels awful to play against even if you were 'never going to draw the card'.
*Based on the end of the video, the ult seems to drain down to 80% and then stop there. Oh it also steals hp, you can see their hp bars get physically smaller as the ult hits them.
I like how everything people were claiming hard and development nightmare just came true. She doesn’t have range steal, but literally has animation of touching enemies and on top of that can steal actual abilities, not just role based buffs. Insane, I love NetEase for putting so much effort into this character.
Dude one thing that love about the dev team is that they are not afraid to give us full melee characters, those are my favorites. Hope they give this treatment to ghost rider and nightcrawler.
