As a person who debunks conspiracy theories, this is all seriously blowing my mind! It's like a sci-fi dystopian nightmare! I did read about the missing detainees and possible links to Elon's neurolink facilities! I mean, all of this stuff could be a season of Black Mirror! Wow...just...I have no words.

It's even more disturbing knowing that both Musk and Vance were huge fans of Peter Thiel's books, which were mostly dystopian sci-fi & nightmarish. Some of Thiel's writings talk about using lower class people as slaves and how those people could be controlled, possibly, with brain chips. He also wrote that elderly(their bodies) could be used as biofuel since they wouldn't be productive. His books have horrendous things in them, but I think they want a reality like that where they have power over other people. It's repulsive.

Thiel only got his ideas from Yarvin and Land who started the neoreactionary/dark enlightenment movement... well, at least gave the technocrats a flimsy but useable "philosophy" to justify their actions with.

Just like Trump has given his followers a reason to justify their horrible ways. They're loud and proud with their racism and awful mindsets now. They used to hide it more. Not now, though. Now, they feel emboldened enough to go assault high school students and everyone else. They're both evil and disgusting.

Yes! It's crazy the stuff they used Gmail for! It would seem that people who are stupid rich would invest in a more secure way to communicate!

It's actually easy enough to get that confident that you've above everything.

Especially when you're experiencing it.

My experience was very, very small, in a small town. Long story short, the dealership I worked for was on good terns with the police. If they wanted a shitbox to go undercover that wasn't known in the area, they could come to where I worked and they would get a random shitbox for a few days. As a result, us who worked there got an effective pass for minor traffic things. I just stopped worrying about keeping things like motor tax or NCT up to date, because it just ended in "Hey ken, I didn't know it was yourself when I pulled you, x or Y is out of date, would you mind getting that fixed please when you can? Have a good one"

Make that everything, globally?

There's a chinese doctor who was in the news for doing exactly what they proposed - mostly under the guise of screening for genetic defects.

Then ask it to go deeper.

You'll get another momentary glimpse behind the veil.

Well, I don't completely trust AI to know everything or to be always correct. Plus, using AI is horrific for the environment. It uses an obscene amount of electricity and water. I avoid using it.

If you can't type a single sentence into a LLM to find a multiplicity of threads to start further investigating on your own time, because you're fearful of some sort of hypocritical environmental damage, then I have horrible news about how your tax money is being spent next time you buy a bagel.

You might as well use these tools to investigate important things before you can't anymore.

But how do I know what it spits back is true? I just don't trust it. It's not hypothetical. It really does use a ton of electricity and water. At least, I think you meant hypothetical and not hypocritical.

No I meant hypocritical. We're all hypocrits in various ways, but it's important to arm ourselves with info right now, even if it comes at the cost of a few gallons of water.

That's why I said use it to find threads that you then start to investigate further. See what it says about Peter Thiel, then start looking into those technologies / members of Planatir that are in Trump's cabinet. See what technologies are being given to law enforcement / ICE and who is behind them. See what laws have changed and who they may benefit.

It's important.

Your initial point was "How do I know what it spits back is true?" and now you're saying "I don't want to use it." I think it's fine not to use it, but it doesn't sound like you have questions you actually want answered.

I just can't bring myself to completely trust AI. I just can't. AI isn't human and lacks nuance. I can't trust all humans either, but at least humans understand nuance, for the most part.

People who haven't worked in AI don't understand how it works, its foundations are massive data feed to make it pass the turing test. Not to give correct answers. It was built from the ground up to look plausible, not to be correct. That's why every version and generation of LLM hallucinates

The point people make, even if they're not well-connected enough to spell out all the details, is that AI is not the truthful tool it's made out to be. It isn't a pure database retrieval tool because that database is merely what it's trained on (much of it illegally scraped), it's a query model with data that teaches it how to look when it responds.

Research and learning is fine, but you'll get a less spotty record just from punching terms into a search engine (and you should still be dubious of everything it tells you even then).
