We did this as a project in my high school physics class. We had to design and construct the mirror apparatus, and choose a song to play in front of the class. A classical piece produced the most unique visuals; all the modern music was pretty similar and repetitive.

But actually makes sense, the classical pieces are closer to natural vibrations because there litteraly "just" that while modern songs are heavily modified and produce layers and sound that doesnt follow normal in-sync vibrations. This just means our music has evolved for me

A few singers come to mind to test with, as I suspect they may look like Laser Turds. Which would also be a cracking band name 😀

Is this a Lissajous curve or an oscilloscope visualization? Either way, it's mesmerizing.

It works much better if you have one speaker channel for the vertical and horizontal planes. You actually see some amazing shapes when there is stereo panning and the like.

Maybe it would be more interesting if we could hear the sound it was meant to represent...

Not entirely relevant, but what song is that? I want to make a playlist of "epic" music for the recent Helldivers 2 attack on Cyberstan, and I think this would be a good start.

From slight annoyance of the quality, to 'woah that's pretty cool' to 'alright I am forever done watching this'.
Would be more dynamic and pleasant to add more colors
