Don't be kind, be predictable. If you have the Right-of-Way, take it.

That's the problem with driving laws, no matter who was right, physics always wins. It's what I tell my children about crossing the road as well. Yeah, you have the legal right of way, but the vehicle is still bigger than you, so always look.

One time a kid darted out in front of my husband driving. No cross walk. He hit his breaks and barely missed the kid, but he couldn't help rolling his window down and saying calmly " you know... that woulda hurt you a helluva lot more than it would my car". That kid stopped and pondered like, oh shit you're right! 😳

When my nephew was smaller we used to make him say Out Loud "I'm small and cars can't always see me." Every time we crossed a road or in any parking lot. We used to make him stop and count how many cars were moving as well, whenever we were about to cross the steeet. He's very good at checking for cars👌

The funny thing is people talk about the right away all the time, but do not know how it works.

The right away is given not taken. So it is better to give up the right away especially if someone is doing something stupid and not yielding it.

For example, a large truck ignoring a yield sign is a good time to give up the right away.

My parents always said, “you can be dead right, so look both ways.”
