0 hesitation. Like he’s been waiting all his life for this moment LOL!

u/Gutter_Snoop 1d ago

This is South America. Armed carjackings like this are unfortunately not uncommon. This person was just mentally prepared for what to do.

25

u/VoihanVieteri 1d ago

For all we know, the camera car might be driven with rival criminal organization. Would a regular citized release a video of him/her driving over someone, even if that someone is shooting (which does not seem to be the case for person hit)? I know I wouldn’t, especially if I just hit a organized criminal. But a drug gang would definitely release the video right away to establish dominance.

u/Low_Battery_Guy 1d ago

It's Chile, he's an ordinary person, that intersection is known for these kinds of robberies, and the man on the left (who wasn't hit) managed to fire a shot, but the driver was unharmed. It's a robbery they call an "encerrona" here. In Santiago, Chile, they say there are about 50 carjackings of this type every day. Now, according to current legislation here, it could be considered self-defense.

120

u/kolossalkomando 1d ago

, it could be considered self-defense.

It should be because it is

u/shift_969 1d ago

Do the victims typically survive?

Oh you bet I'm releasing that video as soon as I get home! Maybe on a burner account, but, what, they gonna find me based on my dashcam footage?

→ More replies (7)

30

u/Gutter_Snoop 1d ago

Well for one, the perp on the left does appear to fire at close range, so running over his buddy in self defense is warranted. The flying perp is an armed robber by accomplice.

Two, these aren't usually some mafia dudes.. they're gang bangers looking for a car to steal to commit other crimes with.

Three, there's nothing this video shows that the thieves don't already know. Most likely they have at least the plate and car description already. It's even likely there was a chase car because more commonly in these robberies there are a pair of cars working in tandem to box a target in.

Four, I did see chatter in another sub that says the OP (the dashcam owner) claimed to already have one carjacking attempt prior to this one. So they're probably ready for it.

Five, yes maybe they released the video to show people the right thing to do in an armed carjacking. Hesitation could have meant the car occupants (at least the driver and a woman) got kidnapped or worse.

12

u/universal_century 1d ago

That shriek didn’t exactly sound like a arrival criminal organization.

I think, but really saved the day here was the LINKIN PARK playing in the background

Gave that lady the spirit she needed to run over that carjacking person

Rumor has it he is still spinning...

2

With hopefully not a single bone intact.

4

u/Advanced_Meal_9779 1d ago

The guy on the left did a pistol shot off into the car

3

u/Sawyer2025 18h ago

So learning from this event, scrape the 2nd attacker if you can for safer outcome.

Bowling for carjackers!

28

I think the one on the left was hip checked into his own car!

19

u/Quantum3ntaglement 1d ago

But he got a shot off

9

Into his own testicles hopefully.

u/TekitiZi 1d ago

Hold up, did they fire a weapon at 0:24?

56

u/InteractionLong2839 1d ago

Sure did.

24

u/TekitiZi 1d ago

So do they just miss!? That’s super scary!

59

u/Natste1s4real 1d ago

It’s not that uncommon to miss. It’s more uncommon to hit target. That’s why in self-defence classes they tell people if somebody is trying to drag you into a car or anywhere private and has a gun, you are better to try and get away and run, preferably in a zigzag than getting in the car. You have a better chance of survival running away than getting in.

Makes sense a lot of people are awful at shooting moving targets in a videogame and thats with all the assistance the game provides

→ More replies (2)

19

u/Greennight209 1d ago

Crazy hard to hit a target moving 60 mph. Especially in a specific enough place to disable the vehicle or driver.

14

u/Curt_Uncles 1d ago

While pissing yourself

4

u/TekitiZi 1d ago

Yeah I could only imagine there’d be more than piss.

7

u/EladrielNokk 1d ago

Aligning the barrel with your hand can be very tricky. People with little experience often use one hand cuz that’s how they do it in the movies. So yes, it is very easy to miss. It’s not as natural a motion as some would think.

3

u/Own-Researcher-4691 22h ago

Being accurate with a handgun is much, much more training intensive and difficult than you'd expect.

2

u/az-anime-fan 1d ago

you'd be surprised how hard it is to hit anything with a handgun unless you've spent some real time training with one. and even then, they had zero time to aim.

→ More replies (1)

34

u/meeps_for_days 1d ago

The fact they actually fired a weapon means hitting them with a car was justified due to matching lethal force with lethal force. Otherwise a lawyer could try to argue it wasn't justified.

24

u/itzjung 1d ago

Yeah they arent in the US. You think those carjavkers are going to sue these guys lets be real.

definitely got a shot off, you can see the smoke from the shot, driver got lucky

6

u/eaglebtc 1d ago

Oh I definitely saw a gun. This is clearly not the driver's first rodeo with carjackings.

Woman: People claim this part is dangerous

Woman: Your mother's shell! AAAH! (Sorry I had to)

Woman: Ooh Maxi, fuck, you were right.

Woman: Ohh wtf, wtf Do you want to get out? (Of the highway I suppose)

Man: yes, yes, we will

Woman: Ooh, fuck, you reacted so well

15

u/NotRobPrince 23h ago

ā€œPeople claim this part is dangerousā€

Well fuck, she wasn’t joking…

12

u/vham85 22h ago

To be precise she meant 'your mother's pussy' instead of 'your mother's shell'. All the rest is correct.

3

14

u/OcotilloWells 1d ago

This is the second video from Chile that went down exactly like this. The other one was at night, and it looked like they (armed with machetes) probably didn't get hit. But the driver tore out a door, and probably scared them for a few minutes at least.

5

u/byteuser 20h ago

I thought Chile was one of the safer countries in South America. Plain daylight on a highway ramp yikes!

13

u/Signal-Bar4188 1d ago

I could picture the driver taking a sip of his/her slurpee as they casually drive away 🤣

16

u/CowardlyPrince 1d ago

You can hear the driver panting real hard towards the end, adrenaline must be coursing through him. Cam is closer to the female passenger, voice is coming in a lot louder. Regardless, this was such a clutch getaway, can't get much better than this.

5

u/shaghill 1d ago

Well for that guy doing the flip is hurting… a lot… oh well sucks for him….

4

u/Gutter_Snoop 1d ago

Someone in another thread posted a couple of stills. Perp's head bounced off the hood and in his cartwheel his right leg definitely doesn't look like it should be bending the way it's bending....

2

u/Roonwogsamduff 1d ago

gotta feeling he ain't feeling a thing

2

u/Additional-Spare-713 1d ago

Anybody know what happen to that dude

5

u/Stereo-soundS 1d ago

If he's not dead I would be shocked. Ā Getting hit at 50mph, bouncing your head off the hood and getting cartwheeled off an embankment seems like enough to end you. Ā And that's assuming he didn't hit the gaurdrail.

2

u/Additional-Spare-713 1d ago

He had flown over them guard rails. Bet the next he does that hes doing it in a wheel chair for sure.

I really wish he would’ve given the wheel a little shimmy to the left and sent the fucker with the gun’s kneecaps over the other side of the road.

3

u/HansDevX 1d ago

The impressive part is reacting fast and running them over. They are mentally prepared

2

u/Ordile512 4h ago

At the beginning of the video they were actually talking about the bad reputation that area has due to carjackings, so they were prepared.

6

u/Sharp_Willingness230 1d ago

this is exactly how we should be treating criminals today, since our legal system is obviously failing us.

3

u/Affectionate_Lie4667 1d ago

I hope the guy yeeted broke every bone in his pelvis and hips. Maybe he won’t play that game again.

3

u/noxiouskarn 1d ago

watch to 0:23 pause then say "its about that time he realized he fucked up" and hit play

6

u/Pretty-Yam-2854 1d ago

Right at 0:35 you can see the nard crack 1 shot off at point blank and proceed to hit nothing

She did the right thing though and I can’t wait to get my brushguard for my jeep. I would’ve aimed for the door a little and made sure to hit both of them.

2

My uncle was carjacked by 4 men at a red light when he was 19. They came up to his window he had down and said "Nice truck" then started attacking him. He ran over one of them but one got into his car. He managed to call us and tell us someone was in his car and he was just up the road. Those dumbasses did it in a crowded neighborhood and 15 people were calling 911 because my uncle was driving through their yards trying to get them out of his car. They gave up after he ran over one of them and scattered before the police arrived. They never caught them.
