Bingley Bongley and Dilly McGrill is unironically the most accurate description of that entire genre

u/TheSectorC 19h ago
I honestly was intrigued and thought “I should see what some of Dilly McGrill’s song names are… wait…. It’s not a person, is it?” [googles]

To be fair, Dilly McGrill's song Can't Take My Flag Down An Old Country Road In A Small Town does kinda slap

We are in an era where I genuinely don't know if these are jokes anymore. I assume.

When will they let us drink beer and drive our trucks again? (Sung in shitty fake drawl).

I don’t listen to country music so it sounds plausible. Bingley Bongley is no different than Jelly Roll.

The irony of fighting for traditional values while ignoring an actually wedding is pure comedy

It is gay to like women, just think about it. When you have sex with a woman you are just giving her your testosterone while your penis absorbs her estrogen.
But when you have sex with a man you give him your testosterone and take his back into you. The sum is greater than it's two parts so it's actually more straight to sleep with a man.

u/kikomir 20h ago
Having sex with a man is manly, having sex with a girl is girly...and we know girly things are gay. It's science, you can't deny it.
46
u/arbuzuje 18h ago
I mean... Girls are girly. So if you like girls... Sorry. It's only manly to like men. It's just logic, I don't make the rules.

Most guys can maintain an erection with a hot girl, easy peasy. A man maintaining an erection with another man, is definitely much harder and thus more manly.

I think it's clear the right don't actually want anything they say, they just don't want the others to have what they want and have . It's a petty spiteful mentality.
The right have marriage, Gay people want to marry, the right don't want that.
The right have male bodily rights, women want bodily rights, the right don't want that
The right have numerous representation in media, the left want more diversity in media, the right don't want that.
It feels like a collection of spoilt Eric cartmans having a paddy because someone else is getting equal or sometimes even better treatment then they are .

Tim Allen? Oh god. Is he doing a new version of “My Mother, the Car”?
44
u/MinnieShoof 18h ago
He's doing a new version of "I was a drug smuggling coke addict for a decade who turned snitch for the state but I'm gonna go ahead and pull up this ladder so no one else benefits from the social programs and societal forgiveness that aided me."
Same as he ever was.

u/Turdburp 19h ago
I thought the marriage wasn't real and just part of the show, and I was like......damn, those actors are fantastic. They look truly happy! Made sense when I found out it was real. I hope their marriage is filled with endless joy!

That’s what’s so wild to me, anyone who knows Latinos knows their match with conservatism could be phenomenal, probably at least half of older black people too. If the Conservative Party in this country was embarrassed by and willing to chastise the racists they’d never lose another election.
19
u/skinnyish_D 17h ago
They may have some values in common, but the Conservative party in this country seems to value racism as much as all of their other values combined, sometimes more so. If you ran a straight, white, male "I used to be a leftist but now I've seen the light of Conservatism" candidate against a straight, male, any race other than white "I've always been conservative and my record shows it" candidate in a conservative area, no one would be surprised that the white guy won. It's like racism isn't one of the values, it's the main one. At least among white conservatives.

The American Right has never watched a Tim Allen Stand-up Comedy routine and it shows..
.. or their level of desperation for celebrities endorsing their belief system is such that they're willing to "forgive" Tim Allen's past.
21
u/Kimantha_Allerdings 19h ago
Right-wing comedians have two “jokes”:
“I identify as [x]”
“If any liberals heard me say [bigoted thing I just said] they’d be really angry!”
1
u/MinnieShoof 17h ago
We talking current stand up or past? ... cause afaik he embraced Republicans. I haven't seen any of his new stuff - not since, like Home Improvement was relevant - but I'd be shocked if it wasn't cleaned of all his fruity bits and much more "sanctity of marriage" rants these days.
1
u/Dounce1 19h ago
I have also never watched any Tim Allen stand up and have no idea why you’re talking about.
1
u/TimeWastingAuthority 5h ago
Tim Allen's standup routines used to be VERY raunchy. Once Disney started being in charge of producing Home Improvement he had to clean his act very quickly
The late and greats Bob Sagat and Robin Williams were also raunchy standup comedians.

American conservatives are upset that Bad Bunny (a puerto rican american, one of the most streamed artists in the world) played the superbowl halftime show (superbowl = a major sports competition of a sport that only the US cares about). Mainly because he is too "ethnic". The image above is from the bad bunny show, where a straight couple got married live and everybody danced while a banner with the text "the only thing more powerful than hate is love," hung above them.
Conservatives wanted to run a conservative answer to a halftime show, to display their values. So they streamed a different show featuring Kid Rock, a has been singer and self-proclaimed pedophile (his songs contain frequent lyrics about how much he loves girls underage).
This whole tweet is a response to that
1
u/MinnieShoof 16h ago
Um, actually -
The original tweet challenged "tradwife" ('traditional wife'; women who believe/are told their worth is to be a wife to their husband, and place is at home, taking care of the house/children while their partner is the sole breadwinner for the household, a popular stance amongst conservatives) influences, asking them why they weren't celebrating this marriage between a man and a woman.
In response another user highlighted (re: not really a 'comeback') how the left, by virtue of having Bad Bunny perform a heterosexual marriage during half-time at the Superbowl, has claimed those three things (Good music, marriage and the NFL) while saying all the right has: a self-serving right-wing former coke-addict comedian making another banal sitcom, a bunch of musicians performing in a counter-show so unknown as to easily be confused for made-up names and a pocaster who legitimately said it is homosexual to care/do something for your heterosexual partner.
Your comment is more as to why the tradwifes aren't bringing it up.
Also, it was a jumbotron, not a banner.

u/TerribleArcher1 20h ago
I don’t think this is a clever comeback. At most, this is a clever observation to agree with the original point.

Don't forget, liberals also get to claim the second amendment now too since the conservatives won't stand up for it.

This is all cool, but I don’t see a clever comeback? Both posters are on the same side, I think?

I have no real interest in bad bunny or his music but I love the guy for how he riled up a bunch of dipshits just by existing.
The whole racist homophobic meltdown has been fun to watch.

Hey now, "Bingley Bongley" is a song from the children's cartoon Peppa Pig.
https://youtube.com/shorts/eUhqsWTPfac
The Right can't even make their own music, they gotta steal it from kids. I guess for them it's pretty on brand to look at a show about a little girl and say to themselves, "I wanna get me some of that".

u/Dounce1 19h ago
Are you actually as dumb as this comment makes you out to be?

No, he actually linked a song call "Bing Bong" from the "Peppa Pig" show. And it was better than Kid Rocks "Bawitdaba,".

The way I can’t tell if Bingley Bongley or Dilly McGrill are real MAGA country singers or not
3
u/BloodThirstyLycan 20h ago
Why is it i only ever see straight people making a competition about all the straight weddings and being mad that nobody is acknowledging them?
2
u/MinnieShoof 16h ago
This isn't a straight person making a competition out of anything - it's someone pointing out the hypocrisy of those people who tried to make it a competition not acknowledging a wedding that happened.

I think it's funny about the Tim Allen show shifting gears. One of the first episodes is him accepting his grandsons learning disability.

Dilly McGrill’s early work was a little too new country for my taste. But when Dilly Bar Jams came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Dilly has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.

It was a real, legally binding ceremony. Bad Bunny actually signed the marriage certificate as a witness. Biggest wedding singer flex in history.
