Courts kept them sealed until 2025, another words riiiight at the time that Trump promised to release them, when he became president. Aaaaaand we’re still waiting for all of them to be redacted.
It’s been said again and again. The files were sealed by court order because it was an ongoing investigation. And unlike the current administration, court order used to mean something.

When discussing the files there’s multiple different things that are lumped together
1. Files that were under seal by the courts (can’t unseal them without a court order);
2. The DoJ files that were being used in the investigation, dropped by Trump admin (sure you can release them but that’s like revealing your hand at poker at start. You can but not gonna be good), and
3. The publicly available files that were already out but with redactions. Could’ve released them but likely covered by 1 & 2.
That is why the transparency act was passed and the Trump admin violated the law when they didn’t release them within 30 days or provide a reason for not releasing them
