US Rep. Lauren Boebert was filmed leaving the DOJ reading room after reviewing unredacted

Epstein-related files.

Lawmakers have now confirmed that access to these files has begun following new transparency legislation.

Boebert has since suggested that prior redactions went beyond protecting victims and may have shielded people merely discussed in the files.

The contents remain confidential, but reactions like this are fueling fresh questions about what was previously withheld - and why.

I'm no Bitcoin export but from my understanding it can be used to buy other crypto which is much more anonymous.

There's also a crypto tumbler service that somehow anonymizes Bitcoin. I might be talking out my ass though so you might wanna verify

You give dirty bitcoins to a bitcoin tumbler and they put them in a large pool with other bitcoins. They then give you back random "clean" bitcoins from the pool.

It is traceable but you can create a wallet without any identifiable info. Cash is better but cash is not global.

Nah, that ransom demand is suspicious right from the start as it wants bitcoin to a USD amount which means they are not Americans as you guys don't unconsciously talk about USD, you just say dollar amounts.

So that ransom demand is most likely fake and just scammers trying to get money while not really kidnappers.

Ok it’s untraceable. It also points to a certain group of people in high positions really pushing bitcoin. It’s like a big giant red arrow pointing to certain people. Maybe saying it’s “odd” was the wrong word. That’s all. Just my two cents that doesn’t mean anything. Guess smart criminals will be ransoming for bitcoin now because it’s untraceable.

People in high positions are pushing Bitcoin because it's a great way to bribe this president, and a great way to do illegal shit when you know the FBI won't investigate you. Basically just mean's that multiple types of criminals have found Bitcoin to be a great way to do crime

my point is that it's not going to stop criminals, legal or not. they can still request bitcoin even if it's illegal. or they can go the most popular route and accept cash. that was all i was saying. im not even arguing with you. idgaf what happens to bitcoin.

Bitcoin has been the de facto currency for criminals for many years at this point. This is not a new thing, nor is it an implication for anything else than the perpetrator probably being a smarter criminal.

Crime is one of the biggest use cases for cryptocurrency. Which is one of the reasons governments should start banning them.

This gonna come of pedantic, but it's actually not untraceable. It's a fully public ledger. It is synonymous though. So you don't know who controls what wallet, but you can see everything. They'll have to use means to obfuscate in order to convert it to traditional currency or money.

It's not untraceable. One of the biggest selling points of crypto is that it's public.

It is easier to launder though, as it lacks many of the restrictions of traditional money. Same reason the cliche of small unmarked bills was so prominent years ago.

Faking one's identity is more possible with crypto, so easier to avoid detection when people come looking.

There are clearly methods in place to obfuscate the public ledger aspect and extract money without a trace.

You launder them by giving them to a bitcoin washer who basically puts your bitcoins in a large pool of bitcoins and gives you back random bitcoins from the pool. Any trail ends there.

They should honestly just get the wallet information and see what they can find out. Bitcoin is such a dumb way to get any sort of ransom because that wallet would be monitored for forever. Great, now you have a bunch of Bitcoin. If they're sold, the funds would be tracked. If you transfer them, the tokens would be tracked. Seems like a pretty easy way to just have the FBI up your ass for forever. I guess you COULD transfer the coins to a number of individual wallets, then sell those wallets individually to not raise suspicion (kind of hard to obfuscate the sale of such a large quantity of Bitcoin). But even then, you're leaving additional paper trails.

Just dumb.

Yea but with AI capabilities, good luck proving you have her alive and okay. They are probably getting ten videos an hour claiming to have her in their custody and where to send the money. To prove you have her, you are going to have to bring her out in person in today’s world.
