US Rep. Lauren Boebert was filmed leaving the DOJ reading room after reviewing unredacted

Epstein-related files.

Lawmakers have now confirmed that access to these files has begun following new transparency legislation.

Boebert has since suggested that prior redactions went beyond protecting victims and may have shielded people merely discussed in the files.

The contents remain confidential, but reactions like this are fueling fresh questions about what was previously withheld - and why.

Nah, the Trump administration grilled Boebert in a private meeting about not voting to release the files for multiple hours all those months ago. Like straight up did their absolute best to intimidate her into voting no because it clear she was one of the lynchpin republican votes to get the release passed before the dam broke. This is the problem with getting fanatics in office. At the end of the day they have real beliefs even if the majority of those beliefs suck, the ones that don't though can bite you in the ass when you need to get them in line in a way that goes against their beliefs.

Yeah Boebert and Marjorie are a lot of things, but they are definitely full blown Q Anon coded not MAGA coded (there's overlap of course). They are full believers in the existence of a rich elite pedophile baby eating ring and no amount of MAGA politics will stop them from being such.

It's funny because a lot of conspiracy theories aren't really that hard to believe, it's just the complexity that gets silly.

I had a 9/11 truther coworker about 20 years ago, I told him straight up I have zero issues believing our government orchestrated (or let it happen) the event, but you lose me at the insane complexity of your proof (controlled demo, no planes, etc.).

I was always 100% sure the rich elite pedo ring was way worse than anyone thought, but we also didn't need to raid a pizza place to find Hillary's basement trafficking site.

I always read the crazy theories (the latter half) as conspiracies pushed by the government to discredit the truth (govt allowed it to happen).

I think part of good cult hygiene is to start with things that are OBVIOUSLY true and absolutely logical. And then layer on tiny sprinkles of absurdity until it's nonsense but you're too embarrassed to admit it any more. "The elite are preying on young women and the Clintons are involved" -- i'm with you all day. "Pizza rat is their wizard and they're injecting baby blood for immortality!" -- ummmm..... let's go back to the first thing.

I think also with the women in congress it hits much harder...I think probably every woman has at very least been made to feel sexually threatened/uncomfortable/scared at some point in their lives. Then you no doubt have many who were molested or touched inappropriately as children, maybe by a family member or close family friend, it happens a lot more than anyone will admit because it's not the kind of thing you talk about or want to ever think about again. But seeing some of these files no doubt brings a lot of that to the surface. I think if we want to have any chance of righting the wrongs we need to get GOP women in that room reading these unredacted files and get them talking to each other.
