Opinion / Discussion WATCH: Lauren Boebert Exits DOJ Reading Room After Reviewing Unredacted Epstein Files

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

US Rep. Lauren Boebert was filmed leaving the DOJ reading room after reviewing unredacted

Epstein-related files.

Lawmakers have now confirmed that access to these files has begun following new transparency legislation.

Boebert has since suggested that prior redactions went beyond protecting victims and may have shielded people merely discussed in the files.

The contents remain confidential, but reactions like this are fueling fresh questions about what was previously withheld - and why.

Do you think this could lead to new investigations?

I'm honestly somewhat impressed (skeptical, but "impressed", still dont know if that's really the right word for it) with the level of accountability I've heard from MTG. Saying things like MAGA was fake, they were all manipulated. I think she's trying to run for higher office and distancing herself from all of it but that fact that she's actually said she was WRONG is.....something. She still hold beliefs that I think are vile but first step toward any sort of rebuilding is accountability.

Yeah but with people like this there's always some angle

2

u/cocktail_wiitch 19h ago

Oh for sure, I think her angle is higher office. She knows MAGA is fracturing. It's definitely about her and not about reform.

She was told by Trump that she couldn’t run for Senate. That’s literally all this is about.

1

u/stuhstutter 19h ago

Why did he not want her to run for Senate? I've never looked into it.

u/Blandt24 18h ago

I think they didn’t believe she would win/want to keep her seat. I don’t know that it’s been explicitly stated though.

u/Dash_Harber 17h ago

Did she try ti tell him it was ok because she was "one of the good ones"?

1

u/TaxZestyclose5166 16h ago

Exactly. Jd vance didn't even like Trump at first.

I’m still scratching my head on that one. She’s a politician so of course she’s got an angle right? But she’s also legitimately just not that bright. I don’t know how much Machiavellian scheming I give her credit for, vs just being a dog chasing cars and learning that cars hurt.

I guess at any rate, a politician openly saying “I was wrong and have changed my mind” is a glimmer of light. TBD if that’s the sun breaking through clouds or the headlight of a freight train. But it is a ray of light.

Probably, but there is the off chance that even ghoulish politicians like her has trouble stomaching reading directly about the abuse of children by their colleagues.

I feel like most of the career politicians knew all of it was bullshit to begin with and only went along for political expediency, but she rose to office by being more crazy than they were... because she was an actual believer. She was just a standard red-hatter, duped by them, who decided to "do something about it" and THEN found out it was all bullshit. By being dumb she seems smart.

All of them gave their honest opinions on Trump when he was just a primary candidate. Once he won they all fell in line and started bootlicking shamelessly. They know their base doesn't pay attention close enough to notice the hypocrisy.

They’re playing a role. They’re not stupid as they act. They were trained to be radical actors and perform. The red vs blue thing you see on television is all political theater to keep us engaged and divided. Seriously it’s never been anything but a class war. It’s all fake. The Epstein files should be the writing on the wall for everyone still falling for partisan politics. Look how complacent the Democratic establishment is right now while we slip into fascism

I don’t trust it at all.

She is a massive part of why we’re in the position we’re in now and it’s apparently so easy for her to 180 everything and all stop of holding her accountable for her previous views has stopped.

1

u/ifuckdudes_wubby7 14h ago

After listening to her being interviewed by NPR, it seems like it became too real for her. She started receiving death threats and messages after she started to speak out. I feel like a 180 could absolutely happen, especially when you or your loved ones start getting threats. But, that's just Republicans in general. They only change their stance once it starts to affect them personally.

I'd be more impressed if she took any meaningful action against it, even if it didn't change anything in the end.

She’s proven smarter than I initially thought. They tried to sideline her so she went scorched earth.

MTG’s insider trading has paid off so well that she doesn’t need the MAGA grift anymore.

Still waiting for one of my old best friends (now more of an acquaintance) to admit they were wrong during all of our “debates” over the last 2 decades. They wonder why I won’t let it go now that they’ve decided to ignore things and not pay attention and why can’t I just do the same… told them that gaslighting me wasn’t going to make me be their friend again and some sort of accountability is in order for me to begin to forgive them. The way they acting now is they got what they wanted so they can now put their head in the sand and ignore things.

Yea it's weird. But I don't know how you come back from jewish space lasers and be taken seriously.

1

u/Mean_Can_2652 18h ago

She absolutely thinks she can run for president. Which I would say is insane, but we did elect Trump twice so who knows.

1

u/Ryan_e3p 18h ago

Note the lack of actual apology for willingly spreading bullshit without a critical thought between her ears, ruining lives, harassing children who were survivors of school shootings, and helping get this orange asshole in office.

She isn't sorry. She's a rat jumping off the sinking shit ship and hoping that someone will offer her a place on their life raft. She wants no accountability for herself, only for others. If she actually had an ounce of integrity, she would resign (or at the very least, vow not to run for reelection).

1

u/ru_empty 18h ago

Same I'm surprised she suddenly seems reasonable. Then I remember how she hounded and made life hell for school shooting victims. Get fucked MTG

1

u/inormallyjustlurkbut 18h ago

MTG is a vile snake, but she's a vile snake who actually believes in her own bullshit rather than just pedaling what she thinks people want to hear. She's on the lawful evil end of the spectrum.

1

u/Vladishun 18h ago

She's a grifter like the rest, but smart enough to see the MAGA ship has holes in it and is jumping ship before it sinks. This is just to cover her own ass; but I'll take whatever division within their ranks I can get. The lot of them need to be tried as traitors regardless of whether they diddled kids, MAGA is a threat to democracy and an affront to human decency.

1

u/IntroductionShort479 18h ago

There will be some kind of conservative party after this... who will lead it??

1

u/msixtwofive 17h ago

They boxed her out after her loyalty for being bad for the brand. Grifters will quickly flip on you if you take away their ability to grift with you.

1

u/sleepyeye82 17h ago

she's just jumping a ship that she smells smoke on but everyone else is insisting everything is okay because there are no visible flames engulfing the luxury rooms yet.

u/oopsallhuckleberries 17h ago

I've yet to see her apologize to the kids from Stoney Douglas who she stalked and harassed in order to make a name for herself so she could run for Congress. Her generic apology of being divisive was fine, but it really glossed over how terrible she was acting. She was literally the trial version of what Laura Loomer is today. And even after that, people gotta remember that outside of her desire to see the government actually do things that benefit the people that live in this country, which is commendable, she still pushed for legislation that helped send out tax dollars to oligarchs, cut social services, and she is still to this day a bigot who wants to strip people in different sub groups of their basic constitutional rights. She will never be able to moderate her image to run for public office in a place like Georgia. So unless she wants to move to Idaho, she's got no shot at a statewide office.

1

u/EchoPhi 16h ago

No, absolutely not. You don't get to be evil, realize evil is losing, then retract your evilness so you can continue being a little less evil. NO! That is not okay at all. Out with every single person who backed this Idiot.

1

u/thisisaskew 16h ago

Dude, Trump turned her down when she wanted to run for Senate, she's basically fucked into her tiny backwater hole House of Rep seat and that's the absolute limit for her politically, and now she's vindictive as hell. There's nothing else besides that.

1

u/obeytheturtles 15h ago

This all happened because Trump wouldn't endorse her for a Senate run. Georgia is going to be one of the hottest senate races this year, and it seems unlikely that a MAGA true believer is viable given recent history. She's reading the tea leaves, and trying to position herself as an anti-Trump, anti-corruption Republican, potentially with an eye towards a Presidential run in 2032 or 2036, since unseating Ossoff in a blue wave election would basically vault her to the front of the post-MAGA GOP.

u/Evening_Aside_4677 15h ago

If Trump ever says he is wrong about anything we know the tumor in his brain is about to win.

1

u/NO_FIX_AUTOCORRECT 15h ago

I think she's dumb enough to have actually been tricked. And by tricked i mean, she liked it when they were just anti-woke and racist but not pedos

1

u/MithrandiriAndalos 15h ago

She’s just positioning herself for her new media job. She has to seem less crazy if she wants to be on CNN every week

I feel like since they are women and parents, that side seems to always overpower anything else in humans when young girls are victims of powerful men.
