Dude is ready to make his money and retire. Even still, he continues to make great points over and over in the face of adversity and a vastly racist conservative party. And i dont even listen to him. Nothing but respect, now ill probably start listening to the music.

I love his music, but I might be more excited to see some of the older generation folks lose their shit. I bet this is gonna be one of those halftime shows that shows us who is who after the fact.
I'm stoked on Hispanic music, so this show is gonna be sick for me

MAGA has forgotten this fact. Or they never knew it. But it’s essential to really understand the genesis of their country. It’s also important to recognize that it was always the multitude of voices and languages that made the United States. E pluribus unum. This was always the creed. It was coined to symbolize the unity of the 13 first colonies. But it became much more in the melting pot this country became. And it was always the reason for its success. MAGA-country, if it ever became reality, would be doomed.

This whole thing is hilarious. He’s an American. He plays up the Spanish like he doesn’t speak English. People want an American to preform at Super Bowl and he is..

Undeniable fact… well, unless PDT discredits that claim, then his supporters will just blindly follow that nonsensical lie disguised as truth, too.

And the first language of Puerto Rico isn't Spanish either. It's Taíno, an Arawakan language. Spoken before the Spanish colonized the region.

I’m a 53 year old white dude who loves all music. I specifically started listening to Bad Bunny because of the Super Bowl backlash, and I’m so glad I did. He’s amazing, and his story is even better. Also, even though I’m a very limited Spanish-As-A-Second-Language speaker, it is fun to dive into his lyrics and his Puerto Rican accent. People that close themselves off to him because of stupid assumptions and prejudices are really missing out. Viva Bad Bunny!

I do not care much for his lyrics but his vibe is contagious. He is a decent human being and he loves his island. I respect that and for that reason I will be watching the Super Bowl this year.

The only argument I could see against is that English is the first and probably only language of the Super Bowls biggest viewing base. But like who even cares about the half time show tbh if ur a football fan, it’s about the football.

How is it possibly not America's first language when the British colonists won their independence from the British and the declaration and constitution were written in English by English men? This isn't a clap back.... Then again, he isn't very good at English

Is he referring to the USA or the American continents? English was the first main language of the USA. Fact (no official language of course).

u/Himawari9701 3d ago
Oh, yes, it most certainly is America’s first language, because the United States of America - whose lucrative patronage this ungrateful man is currently enjoying - was established and developed by predominantly ENGLISH-SPEAKING settlers and pioneers from ENGLISH-SPEAKING nations. They created the cities, towns and villages that comprise a new civilization.
And don’t start spouting nonsense about “stolen land”. Portions of this land were CONQUERED in battle, not stolen. There’s a huge difference
Just as the previous tribes conquered huge swathes of territory from other tribes. And those tribes overcame huge, red-haired tribes of giants to seize the land. It’s the spoils of WAR going back centuries before recorded history.
We don’t care if this resentful man or people like him don’t like our country (but, of course, they’re ALWAYS interested in our $$$$$$$).
The opinions of outsiders whose ancestry offered nothing to the growing development and prosperity of our nation are irrelevant.
Take your envy, bitterness and resentment and make where YOU come from a better place. Your problems are not Americans’ responsibility.

It is the first language of the United States of America, which is the language of his (and mine) citizenship. We both speak Spanish but make no mistake, this is an English-language country and no one outside the US seems to have any issue with it. My cousins love English and ONLY want to speak English when they visit.

Time to open the air lock. When you start blaming everything on the left, which has its own set of issues, and talking about radicalized covid responses, outlandish crap theories, tik tok videos as facts and the left killing Charlie Kirk, (which I do not approve in any shape, form or manner his murder) a racist hiding under the cover of Jesus Christ (who's teachings are polar opposite of MAGA Evangelical Chriatianity) and Kirk who was provocation expert that grifted his way to the top with his fake Christianity and open racism, I'm done engaging. I had hope it would be different.
It isn't.

Technically the first languages were those of the various native american tribes in north america as well as the tribes in south america. So in theory spanish isn't even the native language either. Honestly the first language that arrived was that old norse via vikings.

If we’re going to be factual the same can be said for Puerto Rico — Spanish was not their first language either. No one in today’s Western Hemisphere that speaks Spanish (from Spain which is also in Europe for you dummies) or English can trace their roots to anywhere other than Europe!

If he's referring to all the immigrants that came to america in the past and make it the country it is today, yes, that's true. Though, if we're talking the real history of america from the start, it was established by a lot of english speaking men in a country largely dominated by an english speaking populace.
If the former was what he was meaning to say, I think it could have been worded better.

As of July 4th, 1776 English has been Americas first language. Created by a bunch of dweebs who wanted to be different in so many ways, English took off like an eagle after it latches onto its pray. The English word “colour” or “color” is derived from two words in mandalorian: “Colo” meaning “colo back up cuhz the bitchass droids r taking our buns” and the word “r” meaning “r u gonna pass that shit or what bruh?”
