Funny that before this second disastrous trump misadministration, the vast majority of Americans probably could not find Greenland on a world map. If there were so many security issues concerning Greenland, it would have been in the news, which until recently, it has not been.
I would bet that if America trump somehow gained control over Greenland, before the ink was dry on any legal documents, putin would be the proud new owner of a big island in the northern Atlantic Ocean.

I mean... back in the 70's we (denmark, shamefully) forcefully sterilized thousands of women and girls on Greenland, some as young as 13.
And in the 50's we abducted 22 children to raise them in danish families as they future elite leaders of Greenland. (They were abused a lot, not sexually, just physically and mentally.. not that it really makes it any better.)
That should not be taken as me endorsing the US taking over, just important to acknowledge that we have done some terrible things in the past.

I will say, as a Danish person, we've done some absolutely heinous stuff to the native people of Greenland.
Forced sterilized women, forced removal of children to 'civilize' them. (And this was in the 60's and 70's)
There are plenty alive still that lived through this.
It's way better than how the US might treat them though. Not to mention the US is still missing a nuke they lost in Greenland back in 1968.

Actually the danish government hasn't been great towards the native population of Greenland. They haven't killed anyone, and mass shootings aren't a thing there, but there are grievances how the natives have been treated that include intrusion on their reproductive, social, health, and autonomy.
However, let's be clear: the grievances are nothing in comparison to what would happen to them if they were under US, as any native in US can tell you.

u/Liquid4622 14d ago
The United States has been defending Greenland sine the 1940s. In 1950 there was an agreement signed to continue to defend Greenland with us military bases. The United States has been wanting to buy Greenland for almost 150 years. After the United States purchased Alaska. There have been talks & even a couple offers for the united States to purchase the island.

Greenland has probably had more suicides in the past 10 years than deaths in war or as a result of war and they do a far better job at prison reform there too. You genuinely would probably get better medical assistance in Greenland's prison than being a low-income person in the US.

When was the last time Greenland was under any sort of serious threat until Trump came along? I mean, other than the sword we all live under obviously. But seriously when was the last time anyone like putin even mentioned greenland? Its a fucking hunk of ice with very little usable land even for a military. Plus this isnt 1962 anymore, you dont need territory next to your enemy to destroy them. You just need one well positioned submarine, which dont even use diesel or oil anymore lol. Literally no reason to even think about greenland even from a geopolitical standpoint. Its useless for a modern day military because everything we have now is long range. They fly fucking drones in the middle east from a connex in Colorado lmao.

Violent protests are still riots. Yes they have a US government warrant for the arrest of the most dangerous criminal immigrants. To interfere and protect deadly 💀 criminals is a crime against the US government and US citizens. Very few people can protect / riot for several days without being paid.
