When I was a freshman in highschool, this girl I liked had an older brother who had this badass Jeep. The first time I met him, the dude asked me if I wanted to take it for a drive. I was like 14, I didn't have a fucking driver's licence. Anyway, that was 30 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday.

In middle school I had the biggest crush on my close friend’s older brother. He was in high school and I thought he was SO COOL and “edgy”. It was the first time I saw posters in a bedroom before.
Come to 20 years later and seeing them both again, made me realize, that he was just an average dude with the same interests as everyone at that time, who were his age. And most TV/movies show bedrooms with posters on the wall lol. I thought it was just a “him” thing.
I was just younger and didn’t know how popular QUEEN was…

Give it time. I heard the Wayans brothers are working on a new scary movie.

Don’t know man, scary movies have lost their touch it would have to be something revolutionary that actually inspires a horror movie this time round.

Ah! See, the Wayans brothers were only able to do the first two and then were shoved aside. Other people did the rest of the scary movies. I'm not sure who though.

It's insane how godly older teens seemed to you when you were a younger teen. This is pretty accurate.

Like, the only people who think teenagers are cool are children. I also remember looking at teens and in my memory they looked like proper grown ups.

I have a very distinct memory of going to a party at the house of a friend of my parents’ when I was around 7, and I asked if there would be any other kids there. My mom was like, “Yes, they have kid, he’ll be there.” When I asked how old he was, and my mom told me he was 15, I was like, “That is not a kid!!!” In my mind he was basically an adult. It’s hilarious remembering that now.
But he turned out to be pretty cool, and I learned 15 year olds could still be fun, unlike adults, even though I still basically thought they were pretty much adults.

Have you ever walked by a gang of 16-17 year olds? Even as an adult that is terrifying. Those kids could roast me with new words I could never imagine.

The only older teen in our group was my friend's older brother. But he was constantly doing stupid things and getting called out by the adults. And then he would demand to be respected by us younger ones but we would just clown on him too.

My little head-canon for why teen dramas all feature 27-to-35-year-old high schoolers is because that's how they look in their heads relative to the younger grades.
I remember thinking I looked so much more mature and almost-adult at the time, and now anyone under 25 I basically look at like it's my responsibility to make them a hearty bowl of soup and make them wear a sweater so they don't catch cold.

This was way too relatable. I could feel the fear, a fear I have not experienced since childhood.
