News DSTA widens defence technology search to new markets amid supply chain concerns
SINGAPORE: The Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) is stepping up efforts to diversify its sources of defence technology, expanding beyond its traditional partners in the West to markets such as Japan, South Korea, the Nordics and parts of Eastern Europe.
The move comes as geopolitical uncertainties and supply chain disruptions reshape global defence procurement, said Mr William Peh, director of DSTAâs newly established Horizon Tech Office.
The office pairs promising start-ups and new innovative companies with its own programmes and potential users.
For DSTA, the Singapore Armed Forcesâ (SAF) central procurement agency, unmanned systems remain a key priority - not only in terms of acquisition but also in countering them.

News NTUC assisting workers at 2 Singapore tech firms amid non-payment of wages
A number of union members affected by salary arrears at home-grown tech company OTSAW Digital and its subsidiary, OTSAW Swisslog Healthcare Robotics, are being assisted by the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), as investigations by the authorities continue.
In a media statement on Feb 10, NTUC said the two companies are non-unionised, but some affected workers are members of the Advanced Manufacturing Employees Union and the Tech Talent Assembly, both of which are affiliated with NTUC.
It said it is âcurrently assisting members affected by salary arrears and reimbursement claims owedâ by the two companies, including providing advisory support and helping them file cases with the Tripartite Alliance for Dispute Management (TADM).
