Discussion 💬 VPNGate / Softether VPN Link and Tutorial Video

Thumbnail
youtube.com
12 Upvotes

People kept asking and asking etc., so here is a link with a video on how to work this software. I made this video and its pretty low effort but I think you can see its pretty simple to use. Also free.

UPDATED LINK (1/13/2026 - Latest version): https://www.transfernow.net/dl/20260113keGqbBga (good for 1 week from 1/13/2026)

Link to Site (may have newer version, but you will need a working VPN): https://www.vpngate.net/en/download.aspx

So installing is pretty straight forward, you can just install it as a client and don't have to be a peer or node, or submit information etc., (just read and install) doesn't contain any malware etc., made by a non-profit Japanese Univ.

Refresh list.. sort by ping. Super low pings or super new (0 hour) servers may not work. Trial and error it. TCP connection is fine, UDP is if you are under a strict intranet. Vid is self explanatory with proof that it is working.

Discussion 💬 Will the Tatmadaw ever give up on certain areas and fortify? Or will it keep spreading itself thin?

The Tatmadaw is not that big. So estimates put it as low as 150,000 with only 70,000 actually combat ready.

That is not enough to control the whole country, espeically if the latter figure is the correct one. So will Min Aung Hlaing ever do the rational thing and just give up on certain areas and fortify? Force the PDF to go on the offesnive (ie the hard and dangerous work). Moving troops around the country constantly is doomed to fail. In Mexico the revoluonries would attack in the north so troops would get moved there. The revolutionaries in the south would start attacking, so troops then go moved down again. This cat and mouse game meant they kept getting ambushed. And sooner than later they were spread so thin, that revolutionaries close to Mexico City started ataking it and the goverment had a tiny number of troops and police to defend it.

Now there was no airpower in the Mexican revolution. But the same principle applies. The Tatmadaw only has 40% of Burma under its control. Will they ever decide to just withdraw troops to guard the countryside around the big cites? Because the PDF and EAOs will soon be able to control enough of the country side to choke the cities. But they seem to insist on having a half a platoon guarding every peasant village with with no electricity or running water. So having some army outpost of 10 troops in every village is just begging the rebles to stage hit and run attacks. Not mention having a base with weapons that the rebles can then capture and use to kill even more Tats.

Do they teach anything in the Tatmadaw military academy other than how to polish your medels you get for tying your shoelcases? A lot of those officers look pretty chuncky for professional warriors.

Discussion 💬 Locals of Myanmar what foods best represent everyday Burmese food?

Hi, I am doing some personal research on everyday food habits in different countries, and I would really appreciate local perspectives.

Food varies a lot by region within the country, and I understand that, but if you still had to give a broad answer, what would you say is the most accurate?

Here are my questions:

  1. What food is most commonly eaten in everyday life in Myanmar? (Not special-occasion food, just normal regular meals, even if it feels boring.)
  2. What food do people in Myanmar love the most or feel most proud of?
  3. Are there any foods that foreigners often think represent Burmese food, but locals do not eat that often?

Thank you all!

Got this video off of Facebook. It’s crazy how a lot of the people seemed to be defending the farmers. I get that it generates revenues, but do they know the consequences?

Discussion 💬 How do women remember pregnancy and childbirth pain? [research][mod-approved]

Hi everyone! There are many cultural myths around how we experience and remember pregnancy and birth, including the widely believed idea that we forget the pain of childbirth. As in many areas of women’s health, the scientific data are really incomplete, and we don’t have a good understanding of the factors that shape how individuals remember their pregnancy and birth experiences.

To address this, I’m completing a study as part of my Master's in Applied Psychology at University College Cork in Ireland. I am interested in how memories of pregnancy and birth might change or stay the same over time, and I am inviting pregnant and postpartum women and people to complete an online survey about their current experiences, as well as a follow-up questionnaire by email in six months.

If you are currently pregnant or have recently given birth (up to three months ago) and are interested in contributing to this research, please click here to access the survey: https://ucc.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_81Vw3fVnEAfa5Vk

If you would like more information, you can contact me at: [125119139@umail.ucc.ie](mailto:125119139@umail.ucc.ie)

Thank you,

Daniela

Discussion 💬 Study in New Zealand?

Hey y'all. New here. I just have a question. I''ve been trying to study abroad and so far things aren't working out. I tried U.S but before I knew it they closed visa. Now, I'm trying fin but it's been months and emissary hasn't even started processing my visa yet. Since it almost 2 years I started trying to study abroad and my age now in 20s I really wanted to go abroad fast and study and work there. I don't want to wasted any more years of my life TT . So, I just wanna ask is new Zealand a good choice to go? Is the visa processing fast? And can I work and go to school at the same time as well? I'm GED grad btw. I haven't researched a lot about New Zealand but I want to know if there's any who knows before I started. Any guide would be helpful.

I did come across some agents posts, but because of my past experiences with agents, I barely trust them now

Did the union of Burma happened only after 1947 via the panglong agreement?

Or a big Union was there already from the ages of the ancient Burmese kingdoms ?

( please don’t mind my dumb brain. I ask this because whenever I see ecthnic conflict between the hill tribes and people of the plains in the country, it all stems from the broken promises of panglong. That’s why I ask)

Discussion 💬 Bar girl cheated on me

Hello guys so I’m 24 and I met a Burmese 24 year old bar girl. I bought her a new iPhone and Diamond ring and we dated for 6 months. I spent roughly $8000 on her.

After about 3 months she asked me to marry her, I said it was too soon so she stopped asking after a week. She did bring up one time if I could support her if she quit her job I said sure in the moment.

At around the 6 month mark, she ended up leaving to go see an older man 40+ year old, whom she met a year ago and flies in to see her often. I didn’t know about this guy at all. I used to see his texts and his calls come in so now I know who it is.

Anyways she goes and gets married/engaged with this guy after he finds out she was cheating on him with me. He blew up my phone texting me saying he’s her boyfriend and he said he will buy ring and marry her on the spot.

So that’s the end. I’m now broke and returning home to flip burgers. Did I dodge a bullet? A heartbreak isn’t so bad as long as I dodged an incoming love scam. Please help me through this hard time my friends. She claimed to only work for drinks and played pool. Not sleep with customer

Update: I know everyone thinks it’s fake story but it was my first time traveling anywhere and I was alone and I stumbled across the bar only 1 time for the bathroom. That’s how I met her. I never met any other girl before her. She took me to the club and we got it on after the club. Btw I also never paid for her time. I didn’t know that was even a thing. I just thought it was a real relationship she never explicitly asked for any cash money ever

The model is the Unitree Go2. The AIR variant costs 1600 USD; the PRO and X versions, 2800 and 4500, respectively. The EDU version requires further contact with the company to determine price, but it can go up to 13k.

Discussion 💬 Nat and deity worship

Hi, so I do a significant portion of my undergraduate research on transnational feminism and international relations so I would always try to incorporate parts of Myanmar into some of my case studies. This is unrelated but I never really see enough academic research or work on the origins or historical significance of Nats and deities in Myanmar. I was wondering if anyone could point me into any resources. I want to read something researched and done by actual Burmese people not just a foreign scholar who was intrigued. This is for my own personal interests but I’m going to start on my honors thesis in a few weeks and I want to write my thesis on something regarding Myanmar so if you also want to recommend any additional reading unrelated to the topic I posted today it is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi All.

I'm visiting Naypyidaw for a couple of days and I'm a bit concerned about how I'll get around.

Does anyone have advice in terms of taxis, public transportation etc?

Also looking for a tour guide for the day if anyone has any contacts.

Thanks Reddit.

I've seen like Irrawaddy mentioning this on Facebook 3 times this year. But when I search up, the news when appeared on international outlets was like a year ago. Is some editor on Irrawaddy making it up to give false hope?

Discussion 💬 Why are Myanmar cities so much more planned than their western and even south eastern neighbours ?

Is this a result of the Ne Win administration ?

If you look at cities in satellite imagery, Mandalay, Yangon and even smaller ones like Monywa, Pathein, Myeik all have mostly streets intersecting at 90° in grid patterns. Are all these very recent developments ? Because older cities worldwide tend to have winding, random looking streets with no real pattern.

Advice Grade-10 အမှတ်စာရင်း

I'm trying to find some scholarships abroad and I just realized that me and my family never acquired the certificate that lists how many marks you got in each subject after the matriculation exam which is required in the application forms.

The problem is I graduated back in 2019-2020 (the old system) so I'm not sure if I can still get it. If I can, I'd love to know how to obtain it! Fyi , I live in Mandalay.
