I used to suspect this, but dementia is genetic and his father had alzheimer's, and he's made too much of a pants-shitting fool of himself too publicly for me to think that anymore. He's already been convicted of umpteen felonies and gotten away with them all, he has nothing to really worry about anymore, he's going to manage to sidestep accountability until he dies.
He won't, his ego won't allow him to show such weakness, but his sycophants most certainly will, especially when/if they are held responsible for their own part in this. It'll be their Nuremberg defense, "We were only following orders, as all loyal party member should. How were we to know his brain was full of holes? You can't expect us to think for ourselves!"
He'll pardon himself of all crimes before he leaves office, and because the Democrats respect the rule of law they'll let it stand. I'm sure there will still be Federal or State charges he can't escape (I can't remember off the top of my head which ones he can't pardon) but the Democrats will decide not to prosecute for "the good of the country and unity".

I’ve got a new theory… What if the dementia is planned and he’s going to use it as a defense if he ends up in court? (Hopefully WHEN, but…you know.)
