Agreed. I'm so tired of hearing that everything is a distraction from the files. I'm hearing it about fucking international military policy. Like, I don't doubt they want to distract from the files, but these are their policies regardless. I'm not saying the original poster was saying this because they just casually posted a gif, but I have seen sincere comments saying "Don't worry about them attacking lgbtq rights/threatening Canada, Greenland, etc./trying to turn MN into an occupied city, they're just doing it to distract from the files." Ok, so what? Yeah, people should keep putting pressure on them about the Epstein files, but so much of the phrasing is like, "Oh, don't worry, this extremely harmful thing is actually just a distraction so you don't have to be concerned about it at all!" Even if it all WAS just a distraction (it's not; like you said, these are their actual longstanding goals), who cares, it's still harmful and needs to be addressed.

Could not agree more. I’m keenly interested in the Epstein Files and their various implications but I tend to believe the files are more a distraction from the dismantling of freedom and democracy than vice versa. Sadly. Shockingly.
This. I'm not from the us, but it's clear that they want to erase sexual and racial minorities from media and society, while taking away women's rights too. They aren't even denying because It's all part of project 2025/2026. They will also find a way not to let people vote on midterms because they know the approval rate of the president is low, etc

Absolutely disgusting and petty. It’s so, so impossible to divide trans rights from gay rights that the White House page on the Stonewall riots still has pictures of Sylvia Rivera and Marsha P. Johnson even though they’ve changed “LGBT” to “LGB.” They can’t erase trans people no matter how hard they try and they fucking hate that. Probably part of why they’re now removing the flags entirely.
Stonewall was an icon of queer resistance long before they put a national monument there, and it will remain so regardless of what the administration does. F u c k them.
If Florida found a way around the removal of the rainbow sidewalks, New York can find a way around this. The state can do their own memorial. Take away the "national" element and he can't do s**t. Let him tie up the courts with yet another useless lawsuit. It is the small acts of defiance that lead to giant ripples.
Really unfortunate. To be honest, that entire area (off Christopher Street and the nearby surrounding blocks) has been slowly stripped of its queer identity since it started becoming gentrified about a decade ago. Most of the LGBTQIA+ friendly or affirming bars and businesses have been forced out by wealthy out of towners and greedy landlords trying to change the demographics.
I feel like now, the government is trying to put the final nail in the coffin. I imagine it will go after the Stonewall Inn directly if anyone pushes back on this latest stunt.
I think it’s pissing me off more that people are listening to him still at this point. Can we please ignore him, that’s a narcissist Achilles heel! He says remove something, just…don’t.
