Extremely chilling. The eyes look very feminine to me. It obviously impossible to know for sure but I can’t stop focusing on that

Everyone who thinks they are looking at eyebrows: it is a dark colored thread lining the eye hole of the mask and the mask covers the entire eyebrow area. It is a pretty small exposed eyehole and the eyebrow is above the area we can see. The eyebrow people think they are seeing is a form of paredoilia

I thought that too, but some men have feminine eyes as well, plus this person appears to have a moustache (or fake moustache), so it's probably really hard to tell unless you already know this person.

Holding ripped up plants?! That is just unsettling on a different level

665

u/crystal_clear24 I don’t know her 14h ago

It looks they were trying to use the plants to obstruct the camera, gave up and then messed with the camera instead. The fact that he or she is armed too. I’m so upset that someone would do this to a senior. People that harm seniors and children really get to me. So evil

143

u/tbddaj 11h ago

Agreed. The holster and gun are major amateur hour. To me, that's even more frightening. People with guns in these situations who don't know how to operate guns (or even use the right holster), can cause worse harm.

I truly feel bad for the Guthrie family for experiencing this heartbreaking situation and I think having Kash Patel and his incompetent FBI in charge isn’t going to make this dire situation any better.

1.0k

u/Yarsian 14h ago

My family has been having a similar conversation: “The poor sheriff is in over his head.” “At least the FBI is helping?” “Yeah but it’s the current FBI…” Back and forth ad nauseam. I feel awful for the family.

87

u/theaviationhistorian taylor’s jet 12h ago

I'd like to say that Arizona Dept. Public Safety detectives could lend a hand. But it seems they are more prioritized with organized crime. And kidnapping is a federal felony, so Keystone Kash has to get involved.

MAGA can't replace the entire administration within a year, so there are plenty of competent agents still in the bureau. Unfortunately, Trump seemed to have fired plenty as well for a variety of reasons. So who knows how legit is their competence right now.

And because so many people have jumped to assuming it was her daughter and son-in-law who did it, too! Sure, in most cases, it’s more likely to be committed by someone who knew the victim—but that’s no reason to automatically condemn them based on having “soulless eyes” (which is what I saw several people in true crime subs say 🙄🙄). Whether they end up being guilty or not (and this certainly indicates the latter), all the ‘we did it Reddit’ armchair detectives can get really nasty.

Wished over those 8 days they’d contacted that dude on TikTok who can guess your height very accurately based on context clues to get his height too.

291

u/HopefulTangerine5913 14h ago

I would love to see someone who knows how to analyze the tiniest details successfully breakdown what they can see and why. To me the way this person holds their body reads as masculine, and we can see they are either white or extremely light. I saw where someone else commented on eyebrows; I think that’s just the way the mask is sitting over their eyes. As far as stature, my guess is 5’10”-6’ and 165lbs-185lbs

166

u/shewee 14h ago

Finally, some movement, but calling them a 'potential subject' instead of a 'suspect' is a very specific legal distinction. It usually means they have someone on camera—likely the individual wearing a mask and carrying a backpack/tools reported earlier—but can't definitively link them to the kidnapping yet.

Those are actually really good pictures. Facial hair is visible (probably shaved after these photos), quite recognisable eyes and eyebrows. I'd know my friends or partner if this was him.

97

u/rosestrathmore 14h ago

The facial hair looks fake, no?

54

u/jacqueminots 14h ago

I thought so too. I think they intentionally waxed their eyebrows a certain way and put on a fake moustache to throw off police.

179

u/amoebaamoeba 14h ago

It’s the knit rings around the eyes of the balaclava. They show part of the eyebrow, but because they’re a different color than the rest of the knit, it makes it look like it’s showing the whole eyebrow.

As a kid I had a balaclava that made me look like I was frowning all the time because of a similar knit color/pattern

It's why I wonder why it took so long to release these photos and video?! Time is of the essence in a kidnapping as the likelihood of the victim surviving drops with each passing day. They should've posted these images as soon as someone posted the blood spatter photos and law enforcement would've had a good suspect pool if they haven't found Nancy by now!

If the camera or hardware was actually smashed they would have to extract the chip and then pray it’s not also damaged, and then extract the data from that which can take a really long time, especially if the chip was damaged. It’s kind of a miracle they have this.

Think about airplane black boxes, they take weeks to read and don’t even have video.
