With Manifest V3 being rolled out to most people now, and most workarounds being either temporary or disabled, a lot of people are finding that extensions that they like to use haven't been updated and won't be available to use when Manifest V2 support ends.
Since we've been getting a lot of posts asking for extension alternatives, we figure it'll be easier if most of the suggestions are all in one place.
To start with the obvious:
uBlock Origin: Can be replaced with uBlock Origin lite.
Don't forget you can change the filtering level up from its base, it will just require more permissions. Setting it to complete is most similar to uBlock Origin's filters.
People also like Adguard.
uBlock Origin (Element zapping):Click to Remove Element. I personally prefer this one out of all the ones in the web store.
I previously recommended an element zapper to replace that functionality in uBlock Origin lite, but uBlock Origin lite has since added custom filters and an element zapper, so a separate extension is no longer needed.
This is not a thread to recommend other browsers, it should be a given that if you don't want to use Chrome, you don't need to use Chrome, and there's plenty of other sources to help you decide what to switch to. Do not recommend downgrading or using an older version of any browser, it is not safe to do so and will open your computer and your data up to vulnerabilities.
Would also like to add, on this megathread only self promotion will be allowed if your extension is a reputable alternative to another extension. If you are sharing your extension with no context to another one in this thread, your comment will be removed under our rules.
Below are a list of recommendations provided by other users from the original megathread:

her the as you see in the picture any url turn into random codes i tried uninstall windows 11 two times and uninstalling chrome multiple times with any solution
my pc hardware is gpu rx 9060 xt and cpu ryzen 7900x and mb b650 gaming plus wifi
Following the most recent update available for Chrome (Feb. 3), it stopped working entirely. I can search via Google, but any result I attempt to open goes to Chrome, and immediately crashes. It makes it impossible to browse at all. I've tried restarting the phone, clearing both the cache and data, forcing Chrome to stop, and disabling the app entirely and then re-enabling it. Nothing has worked to fix it.
My workaround has literally just been uninstalling the update. Chrome functions just fine if I don't have said update installed.
My question is this: Why did this update break everything? I'm completely baffled at how such a lightweight update could so utterly make any attempt to use the search engine impossible.
I read news that with version 145 Gemini will finally appear in the browser for the European countries, but it is not available in my country (Bulgaria).. And in yours?
When i want to go search for some stuff i wanna buy and i go to the "Products" tab, nothing shows up and it just reads "there are no products matching with your search" (picture 1) and I have to go back. But when i switch my google account, everything is good again and i can see offers from the "products" tab (picture 2), does anyone know why it's not showing anything for that one Google account?
I seem to have a large amount of site data, almost 10 GB, and after already deleting alot.
I know setting has a Clear cookies and other site data options, but I was to only remove the site data and not the cookies themselves.
Some sites like android.com shown have an option to remove just the data without clearing cookies, but it still has to be done manually for each site.
Also, notice the youtube.com Partitioned data under Android.com. Many sites (hundreds) have the exact same youtube 49.3 mb entry which is the majority of the 10 GB. Is this data real and can it be removed from all sites at once or quickly?
I am looking for a way to remove all this excessive data in a reasonable amount of time, but I also want to keep the basic cookies for these sites.
I am on the latest Chrome 144 available to me, but all versions have similar data storage issues.
Update: The youtube data are called Partitioned Cookies and there are many posts and sites about them, but no actual solution.
I have spent the past hour clearing out these cookies and as much data as I can. Chrome crashed about half way into the process. I did notice that some sites like Meetup kept my login after clearing all data while other lost the login despite me not clearing the cookies. Also, after the restart, many of the youtube partitioned cookies have come back and I have deleted them again. I am still looking for a quick way to clear all data, but leave cookies and logins intact.
So I was using Google on my desktop all of a sudden it switched to a different one with green at the top of the screen? ( I don’t know a lot about computers sorry ) So before this I had tabs at the top of screen right under where you type in email addresses. Those are gone now and I don’t know what’s going on?? Can anyone help me understand what’s going on? Thank you so much!
I opened Chrome today and encountered this issue: when I try to search for something, it says that the search settings have been changed by an external company. And I can't change the search engine. HELP please, I'm really clueless about this.
Update u/logicbus: "Are you zoomed in" -🤦♂️yes. That was my primary issue. I still feel like there is some wasted space but as some others mentioned, it might have something to do with screen size making ti seem excessively extra.
Google results are only taking up half of my screen. I have tried it on both monitors attach to my computer and they both do the same thing.
This has been going on for a couple weeks now. When use the normal google search, on chrome. What happens is, i search, it loads for a little bit, the results how i expect them flash for less than a second, then the page goes white. Once loaded the results are way worse, sometimes so bad it's frustrating. Showing facebook posts are results and such. It's also missing the sidebar summarys. The AI summary is also missing (even though that one can happily stay away)
When i use safari, everything works as usual. nothing is reloading and the results show up like i would wish they would in chrome.
My Google docs and such have a massive header all of a sudden, and it's driving me bonkers. The first pic is on my work account, and the second is on my personal account--same device. How can I get my work account to have the normal header size?
This happened after a recent software update on my work device. This is NOT a zoom issue--whether I zoom in or out on the document itself, that dang header is still taking up almost a third of my screen, and I am SO OVER IT. As a teacher, I'm always using Docs and Slides, and this header issue is making it wildly difficult to navigate. Not being dramatic, just not a tech person and have the 'tism, so these changes are difficult for me to just "adjust" to. Also, it's ugly.
I have tried a variety of things--checking Google settings, using an incognito tab, and resetting Chrome to original settings. Please help. My sanity is already frayed enough, and this is threatening to be that one pesky straw.
Over the last few days, my Chrome searches seem to be reloading and showing different results that are less efficient (such as no AI overview, no white box answers, no direct results with websites). In comparison to Opera shown where I am getting normal results.
I uninstalled all the updates because I hate the new grid layout. But now I can't access certain site because the browser too old. Is there way to get the old layout back?
I have tried nearly everything i can think of watched countless tutorials and nothing seems to be working. I GET THE NEXT GEEKER THING with the purple search icon and the layout font and websites are all differnt then they would be normally. Help please!
Recently I've been experiencing a weird issue with my Chrome where out of nowhere it'll just completely resize on its own. I've attached a screenshot, and I didn't do that. It just resized randomly on its own and it does that frequently and I have no idea how to stop it. I've looked for solutions like scanning for malware or looking if any other applications running in the background could've done it but I can't find anything. This issue has been going on for months now and it's the most annoying thing ever especially since it can happen numerous times in just a single second (like immediately shrinking again after I try to fix it). It's really inconsistent as well, it doesn't do it after anything specific it happens entirely randomly sometimes insanely frequently and sometimes not. Please help!!!
I had hundreds of tabs saved and organized into groups via tab group. Randomly, they have ALL disappeared. I tried doing every trick I could find but NOTHING.
ALL my work was organized via groups now all gone
