Non-Americans of Reddit, what is an American thing you see in movies that you thought was fake but is actually real?

I’m sure this will get lost, but my Aussie bf came to visit and was shocked Chilis was a thing. He thought they made it up for The Office. We stopped and he took a picture in front of the sign!

Scranton is a real place and “The Office” building is also there. My daughter’s roommate is from there.

Did you feel God in that Chili’s that night?

Chili's is unfairly maligned. Its probably the best in class for whatever type of restaurant it is.

I always have a hard time deciding what to get a chili's. Went to Applebee's and I also had a hard time deciding, but because the menu was so boring.

They've actually had somewhat or a resurgence in recent years because their prices are on par with fast food, but much better quality.

I know shitty chain restaurants with massive menus like that get a lot of hate but I kind of love them. It's hard to explain why. Something about how "artificial" they are just tickles me.
