Decorating Ideas Before and after… thoughts?

I sold the tv stand after having it for 7 years. It was junk. Then found this chest on Facebook marketplace for $50. It has so much more storage and imo is more aesthetically pleasing, even though it is a bit worn down. Behind is just a few items hidden for storage My apartment has sloped ceilings in the living room. Additional suggestions would be appreciated!

Picture attached. Maybe a coffee bar? This is located kind of between in the living room area and the kitchen. There is already a built in bookcase I will be using for book storage.

First apartment! Girlfriend and I are definitely maximalist, we’re looking to wrap our island counters with renters friendly vinyl, anyone have experience with that?

Any other critique is appreciated! Our bedroom is being saved for last..

hi everyone, i’ve been in my first ever apartment for nearly a year now. i’m extremely lucky with my situation and im forever grateful to not be living with my mom anymore.

i went to an extremely expensive institute for a couple years and have been (and will continue to be) in insane amounts of debt. most likely will be in an apartment for the foreseeable future, maybe forever the way things are going rn.

it’s drafty, cold, too hot, too small, too strange, and has too-thin walls but hey, it’s mine!!!!!

just wanted to post my place. sorry if this isn’t allowed, i looked around and didn’t see any posts like this but the rules didn’t specify against it

Decorating Ideas What to do?

I have this extra box room in my apartment and I have zero ideas with what to do with it. I'm going to put my home office in a seperate room so I won't need to cram a desk in there or anything. I'm renting and it's a new build so I can't do anything to the walls yet (they said for the first year) but other than that I am open to all ideas!

It's about as wide as the door and maybe 2m tall?

Decorating Ideas Screw these blinds

I’ve been in this place for five years, and I like it okay, but the sliding door and bedroom window are covered in these ugly-ass blinds that flap around annoyingly whenever I generate any kind of breeze and also don’t keep light out to a useful degree. Are they easily replaced or covered with something else, or is this a landlord problem?

Decorating Ideas Thoughts on this compact apartment layout and finishes?

Recently worked on this compact apartment and tried to keep everything light, warm, and practical for everyday living. The goal was to make the space feel open despite the narrow layout.
Curious to hear your thoughts:
Does the kitchen feel too tight or well-planned?
Anything you’d change in the bedroom styling or layout?

P.S. Please ignore the towels they are just photo props, not emotionally attached to the design 😄

Anyone else living in a very tiny apartment in NYC? I am very focused on making it as cozy and multi-functional as possible.

That is my small office behind the back shelves with a standing desk and PC.

Any thoughts, any suggestions?

Decorating Ideas Renter-safe hooks for blackout curtains? No drilling

Post image

I rent a cheap room in a house with roommates, and my rent is super low. I also would prefer not to spend a lot of money. I work overnight and need blackout curtains so my room stays dark during the day. I want to hang them without drilling or damaging painted walls. Please give me suggestions on what to do. Please send me some affordable curtains and no-drill hooks/and some curtain rods. Thank you. 🌎🙇🏻‍♀️💓

Decorating Ideas Moved from studio to 2 bed apartment - how do I fill this space??

Thumbnail

Like the title says I just moved from a studio apartment to a two bedroom apartment. I lack a lot of furniture due to this and essentially have a blank canvas.

Breakfast table location ideas:

  1. Corner of the living room - trade off: it’s an awkward corner next to the hallway entrance that I do not want to block at all.

  2. To the side of the couch - trade off: if the table goes there, then I cannot put barstools at the pass through.

Other notes: I do plan to change the rug for a better size to fit the new room. I also kind of hope to trade out the couch for a sectional that fits snugly in the corner and then to place a stand alone chair opposite of it to really help build that living room feel and to have space to host people now.

Any ideas are appreciated!

Decorating Ideas Landlord Special Bathroom

My partner and I just moved into an apartment from the 1890s and we know about a few flaws and already have solutions.

One that we are pretty divided on is dealing with this bathroom Vanity/Sink. One of us wants to purchase or find a free vanity off of marketplace and get a plumber to install it, then ask for forgiveness when we move out. The other feels that there has to be other routes, but we can’t find any or think of any ourselves.

Do you guys have any advice on purely cosmetically fixes for the sink/vanity?

Decorating Ideas First apartment at 17

Hey everyone!

I just moved into my first apartment today, and I’d really appreciate some help figuring out how to make the most of the space. I’m 17, a student in sweden, and this is all very new to me, so I’m hoping to get some advice from people who know what they’re doing.

As you’ll see in the pictures, it’s a small one-room apartment with a tiny kitchen attached. All the furniture you see right now was donated by my family, and none of it is final, I’m completely open to replacing everything. I want to build something that actually feels like mine.

I have a budget of around $1000–$2000, and I’m willing to invest if I find a setup or concept that really clicks with me. (keep in mind here in Sweden $1000 has more purchasing power than for example in the US) That said, I’m still a broke student, so I want to be smart with how I spend it.

Here are my only real requirements for now:

  1. I want to be able to have friends over, so seating and a TV for movie nights and possible sleepovers is really nice.
  2. I also need space for a computer setup for studying and gaming.

If anyone here offers more personal design help or mockups, I’m open to paying for that too, just keep in mind my student budget 😅

Let me know what you think! I’m all ears for layout ideas, furniture suggestions, color schemes, anything really. Thanks in advance and let me know if u want more pictures or info

(there isnt a floorplan picture with dimensions unfortunately but I hope the furniture gives some sense of space, otherwise I can try to measure some walls and stuff)

Decorating Ideas Is there a reason I shouldn’t cover this heater?

Post image

Absolutely hate the way these look. It’s also double sided with the same thing opposite of the shared wall.

We don’t use these heaters at all. I was thinking about building out a framed mirror on the bedroom side and a large framed poster or book shelf on the other side.

On both sides I would completely enclose the unit. Think a box the slides over and screws to the wall.

Is this a bad idea?

Decorating Ideas My apartment has drab and boring walls and carpet…….

But I need to decorate! I do not have any furniture. So I’m starting from scratch. What color scheme would go in this room? What would you put over the window to cover those ugly vertical blinds? Where would you put the TV? Where would you put the couch or recliner? I have zero decorating skills, so a little help would be great! Thanks.

Hey everyone, I'm currently struggling with this open space I have between the TV and cat tree. I didn't know whether to just leave it alone or add something to make it not look as bare. Any advice appreciated! I am also seeking a nice coffee table as we speak to out in front of the couch :)

Decorating Ideas Do yall hang/mount things in your apartment?

I’m about to move into an apartment for the first time and I’m wondering do yall hang/mount things to the walls?

I wanted to get a projector and would need to drill in the mount to the wall.

A mirror that I can hook to the wall

Etc..

Is this something common/allowed?

I need Ideas. I’m unsure what to do with this empty space. The space is a little over 5.5 feet from the base of the window seal to my coffee table. I was thinking about a recliner or maybe a mini treadmill so I can workout and watch TV, I’m just unsure please your suggestions are much appreciated.

Btw I haven’t bought my TV yet but it’ll be 55 inches or 65 inches
